Review: Shadow Slave

What can I even say? One of the best webnovels out there, for a good reason. Premise (10 - 20 chapters) seems a little weak but it picks up speed. The lore only thickens (😏) from there. The author, G3, which is usually referred as The GOAT, by us mongrels, is very good at creating coherent story, with minimal plotholes from my observation, and fleshed out characters. The cohort, our main characters, feel like real people rather than useless characters only to uplift Sunny. The power aspects in this novel, and the general setting, give a dark fantasy vibe, similar to what games such as Dark Souls do. Sunny is rather disoriented throughout the beginning of the novel, trying to understand himself, while trying to survive out of spite for the world. No more story from me no spoilers :)There are moments which may feel like filler, and you could potentially think of them as filler. People need to understand that filler, which most people consider anything non-action, is required for a novel. Even the best of novels require information to make the story and action feel meaningful. So while some chapters look like filler, they are necessary. Regardless, these chapters may be less enjoyable to read than the action scenes, which literally REQUIRE hundreds of chapters for buildup. Nonetheless, there are no info-dumbs, except the very beginning, which is a common practise and literally required. I rant about filler content because people sometimes dont understand the difference between lore build and pure anadultered filler. Anyways, if you really read all of this, which sums to around 1.7k, you could have propably started the actual novel. Give it a try, worst case, if it is not your tea, you only wasted at best 1-2 hours :)

Review: City of Witches

This novel has slow pacing, think about the fact that the raw novel has around 1250 chapters (and 100 side story chapters). So the beginning is slow. I strongly believe though that if you liked what you read up to chapter 100, you are going to love the rest. I do not mean that the novel gets good after ch.100 but rather that everything which happens in chapter 1-100 is just teasing us with what is coming. The first 40 chapters can be a bit rough to read, but nothing too major. It's mostly the world introduction and a couple of relationships that are formed. The romance is nicely done, not too fast, neither to slow. This is a harem, however, the female characters are not brainless. Later on, his lovers inhibit some rules to our MC. Something about him not getting other lovers. So basically the lasses do not wish to share the MC (which is very humanlike behaviour, +1 point). The action is nice, not the focus but good nonetheless. The main aspect/focus of this novel is romance and human relationships, but the rest, such as world building, mana system and so on are good too. Hmm, I can not think of anything nit-picky, besides the harem part, which some people detest, but I mean what do people expect when you press on a harem novel but hate the genre. Now, if you like harems, like big ones 10+, I don't believe this is for you. The female characters introduced are tangled with the MC, but not all romantically, besides some who had a sexual relationship at the beginning may not become lovers. Hope you understand what I meant.

Our main character is a mathematician genius before getting sent into the gulag- ahem... I meant city of bitc- ahem... before being sent into the city of witches. He is smart, not street smart though and he is certainly a little naïve and dense. Nothing too major though, since as you can see, this is a smut novel. So they get down to business quite quick. Now, I apologize to the god-tier translator who has to read some amazing smut scenes while trying to translate. He is probably going to attain buddha status with this type of self-control. Jokes aside, the smut is good, quite good I would say. Our MC is kind, too kind. Not really the pushover kind though. He has a heroic disposition and would sacrifice himself to save others. It's up to you to decide if you don't like him or not, but I personally did not mind his disposition, and I detest hero stories due to their pushovers MCs.

All in all, try the beginning, if it does not hook you up, then it just might not be for you (which is perfectly fine, just do not hate on others).

Review: SON OF THE HERO KING

I have an obligation to write reviews for peak novels, and this is one of them. As all the other lads, and lasses, in the review section think, this novels slaps VERY NICELY. Smut? Amazing, Plot? Becomes even More amazing, Romance? Hits you like a truck, World-building? Check, Character Development? Check, MC? Lad through and through. Sol feels humane and like your typical brother (as in bro). His development from boy to adult is nicely done. This author knows how to write his sh*t. I cannot do this novel justice. If you plan to pick this up, do note that the smut early is a LOT. Recommended this to a friend, but he said too much smut in the beginning. Pestering him to pick it up again. Do trust me, even you may not like smut, you can easily skip it, and the plot does not derail at all for you. I believe the author did mention that somewhere. You like smut & harem, good you will love this. You dont like harem but only action and cool MC? skip the smut, the plot is golden by itself. You like harems, smut AND action? F*cking h*ll, you are eating like a king. However, there is one silver lining in all of this Peak, and its the author, specifically the authors upload schedule. Like brother wrote 3 novels at the same time, which were all very good, but had to give up on the other two, because he could not keep it up anymore. I get what he is trying, probably trying to not get tired from writing this novel, just not humanly possible unfortunately. The schedule is still incosistent as of now, but the author is juggling some other studd, so it is understandable. If you still reading, lad or lass, give it a try, this novel is a gem not getting enough recognition in my opinion.

Review: I Became A Flashing Genius At The Magic Academy

This novel is simply amazing in my opinion. The romance is very very tasteful, as in female main characters are not thirsting for MC from day 1, but slowly develop fondness before becoming something like a crush. The blue, black and white haired trio, sorry alchemist (you still peak imo though), have interesting interactions and especially characters. Enough about the rest of the cast, lets get to the spicy part, out MC. What can i say though? The man kinda a chad insert GigaChad.gif. Man is tasteful, feels refined, and is nice to hear talking, as in though process and mannerism. Now Now, I may not swing that way, but I gotta say, my man is the heartthrob. Misunderstandings do happen, and play somewhat of a big roll. Not major, but big enough I would say. Now, this is a Harem, so expect a couple of FMCs, but not brainless lasses who want a piece of our MCs D, but elegant aristoctras, expect Flame who is foulmouthed but still lovable (Me like Flame, Flame nice). Nitpicks about this novel? From what I can think of, I've heard of the ending being subpar, maybe even worse than subpar. But I still think that the majority of the experience is amazing, so having a somewhat bad ending is no reason to skip this. As of what the ending? I do not know a lot. Nobody dies though, so no tears there. Hmm ... I forgot to say the usual. Story nicely done, not too slow or too fast (as of writing). Characters have I already said enough. Fighting System, as in mana, is explained nicely. Cannot think of anything more without writing an in-detail essay. Just give it a try, you like romance&harem good, you dont like it?its not prevelant enough, like every single line is about romance, to make it a bother to you. Princess Hong Biyeon best girl though. Also it has a manhwa (read it, artstyle is peak).

Review: There Is No World For ■■

I'll begin by saying, that everything which I will be writing is from the 5-10 first chapters, so no spoilers. First of all our MC is dung beetle, crazy name I know. He is a janitor, not cleaning houses or buildings, but dead bodies instead. His life, as well as his foster brothers. was traded by the government higher-ups for 250k won (which for you americans is 179$, or 158€ pre-Trump economy). The reason is explained in the novel quite well, but anyway the murderer calls himself player and killed them for XP, yes it is what you are thinking. Our main characters dies, but is resurrected by an existence, which I'll be honest, we still do not know a lot about. Dung beetle, as you can probably guess, goes kinda insane, only wanting to avenge his family by killing the player. The existence, probably of Divine origins, grants him the talent to easily copy others, as in their martial arts. Now, I know this might sound like your typical KR novel, but do believe me, it differentiates from the other overpowered MC KR novels quite well. First of all the characters besides our MC are enjoyable to read. The feel humane, are not there to be his trophies and are capable. This is already a big plus, because this IS a harem, which can either go to heaven or h*ll depending on the authors capabilities. The romance is fleshed out, slowly coming in pieces. As of now, beetle has eloped with only 1 girl, ahem best girl, and the romance with another is shaping slowly. The raw novel has around 1000 chapters, as of writing, and so you can guess that it will be a detailed novel. The story is amusing, because historical events such as WW1 and WW2 are mushed together with fantasy elements such as elves, dwarves and so on. Hmm, the story is a bit complicated for my pea-sized brain to summarize it too much without losing your interest. So moving on from the story, I've seen people complain on the patriotic aspect of this novel. Now, as you can imagine, reading our main characters sucking up to his country every breathing moment is unappealing. Luckily, our MC detest the government due to killing his family, so yeah. The patriotic aspect is prevelant on the koreans who, are beetles enemies, so if anything, the patriotism is a key aspect in the lore, but is tastefully done in my opinion. I believe i corevered everything, some shallowly because i do not want to spoil your my brethren, so I will talk about something a lot of people cry about 'Harem'. So, I personally read Harems because I'm scared of liking a character very much but they never acquire the love of the mc. Now, I understand those who hate the genre, because in a nutshell, a lot of harems DO spiral to sh*t and basically the MC collecting pokemons/trophies who are there to stand beatifully next to him. If you hate the genre due to this, I can wholeheartedly support that. But, if you hating just for hating, get out. If you stumble across myself in other harem novels, they are propably nicely written harems, and if they are not, believe me that I will be the FIRST one to tell you that. Here, until chapter 150, it feels like a typical romance between a man and a woman. It does evolve into somehow a love triangle, legit triangle, since the third woman likes both the 1st fmc and mc. Anyways, do try this novel. I was holding onto this novel for some time to read, and it did not disappoint. Have fun reading😺

Review: Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches

Poison tester here, or i a refer to myself before crying myself to sleep, IHaveTooMuchTimeOnMyHands. This novel is peculiar, in the sense that I like what it does but does not give me the f*cking treat. A good dog deserves its treat d*mn it. Getting to the actual review, without spoiling, our MC is transmigrated (geez, I wonder where you could get that from, maybe the first word in the title?) in this world as the fake young master (... I wont continue with this skit). Basically b*tch slapping the h*es and young masters that are not himself. The plot actually goes from decent to interesting. He is trying to find his real family because he himself and another 2 children were swapped after birth and sent to the wrong families. Now, this may sound generic to some, but I believe it to be unique enough to be a standalone. Moving on to the action scenes. The actions are good enough, nothing amazing, nothing special, just really good enough. At least from what I remember. That is due to the fact that the MC is a chad skilled in martial arts and assassination. So most of the fights are either short, or mental battles. I would give the action side of this a 3.5/5. Moving to the story, I briefed on this before, and i would give it a 4/5. Lastly the characters, romance and Harem aspect. First of all the characters are nice to read. I especially liked the younger sister, who had a nice character development. There is only 1 best girl, however. I wont say who, because if you read this, its rather self-evident. Most characters outside of the cast do their job, forward the plot, but nothing else. They do become unimportant, which is fine. The main cast feels humane and interesting, moreover, there is actual emotion in this novel. You feel emotional when readings parts of it, there is an impact. Which is a significant W. With the characters and romance out of the way, the last aspect 'Harem' which people dread. The harem is tastefully done. Think about the fact that this novel is around 400 chs, and by chapter 200, there are only 3 significant love interests. The first is amazing, the second if good too. The third is less developed as of now. That is due to the fact that the first love interest had many arcs of development and the second one has always been kinda active. The third though started getting screen time at around 150chs. Anyways, using my amazing cognitize and analysing skills, I can only see a Harem 3-4 lasses. 4 is already stretching it. More than that, and the plot have taken a nosedive, or the author just cooked really well. Anyways, i ranted too much and my brain is melting from thinking. I'll give this novel 5 stars, because its focus, the characters and relationships are nicely done. Author cooked with this one. Slow start, but be patient, it gets good really fast. No bullsh*t of read at least 100 chapters until it gets good, but do not give up in 10 chapters or so either.

Review: Love Letter From The Future

I am officially here, make way for me peasants. I am here to PREACH. Father sorrow will show you lost lambs the way. First of all, this novel is unhinged. Our MC is totally mentally incapable of compassion for the first hundreds of chapters. My man sees a problem, thinks of solution, solution.exe has crashed, so instead of restarting windows, he starts beating the computer. Literally, the first problems introduced here are solved by the MC using brawn and not brain.

I really enjoy his struggles though. Our MCs special power is something most of us lazy sloths are unfamiliar with, it's called willpower. His will is rock solid (insert malphite_rocksolid.mp3). Moving on from our lovely lunatic, to the rest of the cast, concisting of females, because it is a harem, you dum-dums, they are interesting(???). Oh, i forgot my bro Leto, and the holy knight, so we actually have 2 bros in the cast as well. Where was I? Ah, yes, the female cast ... is as insane as the MC. Peas in a pond, or whatever that saying was. This somehow makes the story even better, like it IS a very unique concept. A mentally deranged hero who gaslight- I mean charms similarly mentally unstable women left and right while protecting the world.

Moving to the story, I won't write a lot about it, I do not want to spoil it to you. Basically, the MC gets love letters from the future (wow who could have thought) and uses the information from these to prevent disasters. Events unfold slowly, as well as parallel timelines which the MC gets glimpses on.

The last aspect I will talk about is the Harem. I will defend this to my last breath, cause I an avid harem-lover, but that is not important here. There ARE plenty of females after my boy, but he is clueless, which unfortunately takes away some rank points. The thirsty creatures trying to find their way to the Ian oasis is certainly amusing to read. I strongly believe the appeal of this series to be the rather unorthodox approach to the characters. They all are somewhat 'broken' due to past events or circumstances, with the exception of our main character who had the most normal childhood (or does he?) but turns out to be more insane than all of the cast combines. Now, my thought process has been all around in this review, and I am not proud of that. My parting words to ye who see the light, is to give this show a try. While some might not consider it a masterpiece, I strongly believe that anyone can enjoy this work.

Review: Cultivation Online

Lemme cook. The novel here has downsides, which ar rather self evident. The largest flaw in my opinion is it creating a huge and intricate world, and while the author is capable of managing all of that, the man does not f*cking upload to save his life. For those familiar with his other popular novel, Dual Cultivation, Cultivation Online is so different you would think they are written from different individuals. Cultivation Online has plenty of characters introduced, which some hold onto relevance, while other are slowly forgotten or have little to none screen time. The main focus of this story is our MC and his past/future. Now, the reason I gave it 5/5? It is because the novel itself is good. Action?`Good. Story? Engaging.  Writing? Good, not amazing but no large mistakes.  Characters? Here the issue.  As I said, there are plenty of characters, so it is impossible to actually juggle all of them, because at the end of the day, it is a WRITTEN novel, you simply cannot have every characters thoughs and actions without it being thousands upon thousands of chapters. So we come back to the original issue, a too large of a world. From what it is seen, the author, despite his upload schedule, does not seem to rash the story, nor give up on the story. So we should be fine. The negative reviews on this novel are not unjustifiable. To some degree they are correct. Now, depending on YOU, the reader, the intensity of these 'flaws' might be very apparent or you might not even notice them. I personally never noticed any of the 'issues mentioned. The only pet peeve I have with this novel is the slow growth of the MC. It takes time for him to grow. He is very naive at the beginning and it takes time for him to shed himself of that naivety. That being said, there is a warrant for it. Argumentably,  I believe there to be no extreme flaws with this novel, at most, some small things. Anyway, neither my nor others opinions matter here. Give it a try and see for yourself.

Review: Nine Star Hegemon Body Arts

So to begin, my feeling for this novel are mixed. I adore this show, while simultaneously feel disinterested to continue reading. It really is a love-hate relationship between me and this baddie. For reference, I've read up to chapter 4066. I really liked the premise, and the first hundreds of chapters, everything felt Unique. And do not get me wronged, the show still has unique elements, at least to me, which make me consider going on. The story is more than decent and engaging, the characters are fleshed out and humane, especially the FMCs, who usually are walking meat-bags with no personality, acting beautifully for the MC. Well, that does get worse over time, due to the fact that more characters = more dialogue and screentime to manage.

Now, moving to the spicy part ... our MC. Man is a chad to all others, but gentle to his lovers. My pet peeve with this novel are the lovers who are 'preserving' themselves for marriage. Before I get massbombed with dislikes by all my wait-for-after-marriage brothers, I do not feel a strong opinion regarding this matter, both sides are correct to feel what they wish to. I just hate how our main character is getting c*ck-blocked by his own lovers at the worst times. Like brother had an opportunity with one his lovers, but never got down to it, but the SETTING was more than perfect. The author builds it up perfectly to tease before throwing all our expectations down the abyss. In a sense, my pet-peeve is with the author and not the novel itself.

Moving on to the Harem, I would say its fine, like most of the are fleshed out in the beginning, still stay relevant later on, and will continue getting stronger to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with MC. So nothing really to complain there. Due to the fact that there are multiple female characters to manage, they don't all manage to get as much screen time as I would like. However, among the Chinese web novels, the females characters here are written definitely better. You may digress with me, and that is fine.

My though process got jumbled, so I will stop here. All in all, among the chinese novels about cultivation, it shares some similar traits (such as many chapters and somewhat repetitive parts, but I still like it. Slap 5 stars on that thing and give it a go. You will either go to cultivation novel hell and meet me there, or choose to keep your sanity and leave. Good luck.

Review: Civil Servant in Romance Fantasy

Well, Well, Look who we have here? Another lonely soul, seeking warmth from digitally written scriptures. Oh, and yes, I too am one such soul. Anyways, enough cringe, I am here to spill the tea. I personally stopped reading this novel, it just did not keep me hooked up. From whatever of the premise i can recollect, this show screams at my subconsciousness. So why did I stop? Do not remember, but probably some real life stuff. It do be like that sometimes. I yapped enough about me, you are wondering about the novel and not me, so I'll get straight to it. This novel has a rather basic premise, but successfully pulls it off. The main part of this novel, from my understanding, is regarding romance (who would have though) and relationships, so not action. So if you are here for action every chapter, you are going to be disappointed.  Now, the romance is nicely done from what I remember. It is a slow burn for the most part with the male characters thirsting after this girl, who is refered to as a capybara(?), I may be wrong. Anyways, this girl is enthralled by the civil lord governing above all civil peasants, who is coincidentally our MC. This review might actually be my shortest one ever, I legitimately cannot remember anything even if I was held at gunpoint. I have let you down my fellows. Anyways, if you are considering reading, I plan on rereading because I remember enjoying this novel, so you should consider giving it a try too. 🤗
