longing can b translated as desire, so once the nameless sun lost her desire she gave into the corruption, the void; she lost her direction and wanted for nothing
(apologies in advance for greek myth nerd s*it) okay so in aristophanes' comedy 'birds' he (speaking as a bird) says that 'we' birds were born of 'chaos' (void) and 'eros' (desire) and that them having mated 'thus hatched forth our race, which was the first to see the light.' reminds me of the vile theving bird. thats a s*it theory tho i js thought it was cool. also also the primordial personification of darkness (erebus) was borne of 'chaos' and so too was his wife 'night' (nyx) so smarter ppl than me pls piece smth tgt from that
again, the concept of "desire" being (one of) the first thing to come outta the void is (once again) related to greek mythology !! yay !! in hesiod's theogony the universe was the void, was a primodial chaos, a chasm, then came gaia (earth), tartarus (underworld) and eros (desire). eros is a fun character in the myths, to me at least, cos of the implications of his diff birth stories. He's either this primordial and therefore more mystical and ancient sort of desire or a more sexual(?), more comprehensible, closer concept to mortal 'love', as the son of aphrodite. I like these differences because 'desire' bringing 'direction' reminds me of the ton of myths that have journeys that happen as a result of god-induced love spells, like the medea, like the fall of troy (paris and helen's whole debacle), so this isnt really theory but just smth i thought ws cool. Also also it leans into the idea of desire not being eternal and unchanging as the roman ver 'cupid' is a changed version of 'eros'
