Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 99: Protective brother
Chapter 99: Protective brother
The couple rode together on Hamon’s white horse. Ara was in front, while Hamon was seated behind her, with his hands below her waist holding the reins. She’d intended to take the carriage, but that changed when Hamon ordered to get the horse ready. And she was glad he chose the horse instead of the carriage.
Ara wondered if he remembered the last time they rode together when leaving the restaurant. She could still remember that night as the wind blew past her, but this time they were riding in a slow pace, and the wind was still cool.
"Did you choose to go on a the horse because of me?" She asked.
"Mhm." He hummed, "I remember when we were in Greenwood, you used to like riding horses with me at first before you learned, and after you learned you started to race with me." He
reminisced then asked, "Do you remember?"
Of course, She also remembered those moments when she first joined the army, she’d always stick with him like a glue, as he was the only person she was familiar with then. She’d always insisted on riding with him on his horse.
"No, I don’t remember. I don’t know how you could still remember those trivial things." She remarked.
Hamon replied with a bitter smile, "How can I forget such memories...I remember everything about you, to when you would follow me around like an adorable puppy."
Ara didn’t realize that he would still remember all that. Her face flushed in embarrassment, she turned to steal a glanced of him, but her cheek touched Hamon’s firm chest, she didn’t know he was sitting this close to her the whole time on the horse until her cheek came in contact with his chest.
"What’s wrong?" He asked as he glanced down at her, she slowly shook her head, "Nothing...I was just surprised that you remember all those memories." She remarked and turned her head back ahead.
Hamon replied with his husky voice close to her ear, "I will always remember, future wife. So keep watch." She felt his warm breath brushed against her ear, and could feel his body heat behind her. Suddenly the image of his exposed muscled torso from earlier flashed to her mind. Her face was quick to heat up even more.
_Ara! Stop thinking of that again!_ she shook her head to toss away the delusions in her mind.
The horse finally arrived in front of the Boxton mansion’s gate. Hamon swiftly dismounted the horse and was about to hold Ara’s waist to bring her down when a low threatening voice came from behind,
"Don’t you dare touch my sister!"
Ara quickly looked towards the direction and saw Henry staring at them with a disapproving expression.
Hamon knew who the person was even before he turned around. There was still one Boxton family member he hadn’t met yet. He turned around and saw the man who just spoke, glaring daggers at him, if looks could kill, maybe the man’s glare could had killed Hamon and buried him right there and then.
"Brother..." before Ara could even say anything, Henry had strode towards her, and brought her down from the horse, And treated Hamon like air. Her eyes widened at his actions. She noticed Hamon’s red eyes flared at what Henry did. What was her brother doing, disrespecting the crown Prince?!
Henry looked at his sister then shifted his gaze to Hamon, who was as stiff as a stone, "Arabella, why are you with this man? You shouldn’t trust men, as you’re too young to understand their intentions."
Although, Henry had not met the crown Prince before, but he knew the man in front of him was the crown Prince, as the horse they rode was a royal horse and had the symbol of the royal family, but he didn’t like the man and was pretending not to know who he was.
Ara felt a drop of cold sweat gathered on her forehead, she quickly replied to her brother,"This is the crown Prince, brother."
At Ara’s words he bowed his head, pretending as if he’d just found out it was the crown Prince, "Your Highness."
Ara couldn’t believe her brother didn’t know the man with her was the crown Prince. Her father had overly respected Hamon, while her brother treated him first like a nobody.
Hamon gave Henry a nod of his head. Ara then said, "Oh...right, Hamon. Meet my older brother." She anxiously introduced.
Henry’s face twitched slightly at the revolution that his sister addressed the Prince by his name.
Hamon then remarked with a faint smile, "I finally meet my future wife’s brother, interesting."
"Hmm. I’m Henry Boxton, Ara’s older brother."
Despite the superficial introduction between them, Ara couldn’t shake off the feeling that she was watching a fight between a tiger and a jaguar, each of them an equally immovable force. They both were glaring at each other. Seeing that none of them was willing to look away, she uttered, "Um...Brother, Hamon just came to drop me home, I’ll come inside after I bid him farewell."
"Mm, don’t stay out for long and come back inside." He instructed her then turned back to Hamon with a slight bow, "Goodbye, Your Highness."
Ara forced a smile after her brother left. There was silence for a moment. She glanced at Hamon, his dangerously red eyes were flared, but surprisingly he didn’t act as she’d thought, and remarked nonchalantly, "Your brother doesn’t seem to like me."
"Honestly, he was against our marriage at first, but if you are offended for his earlier behavior. I apologize on his behalf."
Hamon shook his head, "It’s alright, but I just hope he won’t try to keep you away from me next time..." He deadpanned.
He continued, "But, I quite like him. Am relived that he cares about you, at least now I know there is another person in the family who loves you."
Ara was speechless. Did he perhaps notice her pain when her father easily gave her away? She couldn’t help but feel moved at his comments, she then said, "Hamon, thank you..."
He glanced down at her, "No more thanks, like I once said. I don’t do things for free. You will pay me back in the future."
