Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 98: Take you home
Chapter 98: Take you home
Ara sat in Hamon’s study room waiting for him. Eventually, he appeared, but this time he was fully dressed with his sliver hair let down his shoulders to dry, as he’d just showered, it seemed he didn’t have enough time to dry his hair before coming to meet her.
He sat across from her, "I received your letter last night, what’s the important thing you want to discuss? Your letter really made me worried, I almost wanted to come to you, but decided to wait until today." He uttered seriously.
She was glad he didn’t come last night then, she didn’t want anymore rumors in the society again, all she wanted now was the wedding ceremony to take place without any more major incident.
"I’m glad you were patient enough to wait." She said then took out the envelope from her dress pocket, "I received this invitation from the king yesterday when I came back from the palace." She handed the golden envelope to him.
Hamon immediately took it and opened it to confirm if it was really from the king. His eyebrows drew together, "Heck, I haven’t seen this in a long time now. Father, hasn’t sent a personal invitation for years now."
"Is it really from, his majesty? Do you know why he sent it to me?"
"I think he wants to meet his future daughter-in-law."
"Oh, Are you going to come with me to meet him?" She asked. But Hamon laughed, "Well. I think he wants to meet you without me there, as the invitation was secretly sent to you without my knowledge. So I won’t be able to go with you as am not invited."
Ara’s expression turned nervous, "Do you mean I’ll have to go and meet him alone without you?"
"Yes."
Ara felt her stomach turned out of nervousness. She hadn’t thought that the personal invitation meant she couldn’t go there with Hamon but alone. What does the king want to talk about?
Hamon spoke again as he noticed her expression, "He’s not going to eat you, future wife. Just go and meet him."
"What?"
"Well, My father is somewhat desperate for me to get a wife. As you already know, he had tried to match me up with different noble daughters, but because of the rumors, none of them were willing to give their daughters...And because of the hag!"
Hamon’s red eyes flashed dangerously at the thought of the queen. Ara understood what he meant, the queen was obstructing his opportunities to get married as well.
He continued, "And you don’t have to worry, I’ve already talked to my father about us. You needn’t worry unnecessarily, you just have to go and meet him."
"Really?" She never thought Hamon had already told the king about their relationship. But then it was a good thing that he’d told him, so their wedding would take place as soon as possible. Yes, this was even much better! At least now that Hamon had spoken to him, all she had to do was just meet him and let him know how much she was looking forward to the marriage.
"One more thing...If you want my father to approve of my marriage with you, all you have to say..." He paused, then removed the ring on his finger, the same ring with the red magical stone, then stretched his hand forward and said, "Give me you left hand."
Ara stared at him with a questioning expression, but then she slowly placed her left hand on his outstretched hand, he grabbed her smaller hands in his larger ones for a while, he then slipped the ring into her finger. As he said, "All you have to say to him is; I proposed to you with this ring, and gave you my words of blessings that whoever becomes your husband will be the next king of Findara."
It wasn’t a long line so she memorized it easily, but she couldn’t help but wondered what the ring got to do with the king.
"I don’t really understand all this, Hamon. If I say those words to the king, will he agree to our marriage?" She asked.
Hamon sighed, "You don’t have to understand it now, but I assure you that after you say those words to him, our marriage will take place as soon as possible...I’ll explain everything about this to you some other time."
Hamon didn’t seem like he’d explain it to her at the moment. So she decided to just do as he instructed and not question. She wondered what the ring had to do with all these. Furthermore, she’d been curious about the rumors about Hamon, and what he really was. She’d once seen him teleported and transformed into...well, she doesn’t have a name for what he really was, but she knew he had no intentions of revealing his secret to her. She heard him say,
"By the way, keep the ring and the necklace safe with you for now, and don’t let anybody know about what I told you to say to the king. Keep that in mind." He instructed, reminding her to keep her necklace safe once more, she wondered what her necklace had to do with all of this again, but she gave him a nod of her head, "Okay."
Ara buried down her curiosity for the time being, she’d definitely find out about everything after she was crowned the crown princess.
"Strange, for the first time you came to me for advice. Up until now, You like to solve things on your own." He remarked.
"Actually, I think it’s better if we solve our problems together. It is more easier that way, and now that I already remember our friendship in the past, I feel more at ease sharing my thoughts with you." She stated honestly, she couldn’t keep on doing things on her own, besides, apart from her family Hamon was the only person she could talk to. If she had went ahead without coming to him, she wouldn’t have known what to say to the king. Things could had gone wrong.
Hamon’s lips pulled up in a satisfied smile, "I must say, I like it that you came to me first. But I hope you continue this way in the future. We can easily solve everything together...After you’re done talking to my father tomorrow, come and let me know what you talked about, will you?"
She nodded, "Sure, I’ll come and let you know immediately." She assured. However, Hamon’s smile dropped as he asked, "You’ll be meeting tomorrow, right?"
"Yes."
"Mhm." He hummed, "I’ll be waiting for you outside the king’s residence then, make sure to come to me straight afterwards."
Ara couldn’t help but think that, something about his tone reminded her of Henry. Was it because he was also trying to hide the fact that he was worried? She then asked curiously, "Are you worried about my meeting with the king?"
"Of course I am. I can’t help but feel uneasy when am sending you alone to meet my cunning old wolf of a father. I really want to go there with you, but the old man won’t even let me anywhere close to the door if I come along without the invitation."
However, unlike Henry, Hamon immediately expressed his feelings. Ara couldn’t help but grin, "Hamon, I’ll be here immediately after am done, so don’t worry." She assured with a smile.
Hamon gazed at her smiling face. She rarely smile like this. In their previous life, he did a lot of things just to see that smile on her face, but no matter what he did, she was like a stone back then. He wished he could forever keep that beautiful smile on her face in this lifetime. He asked in a low soft voice,
"Will you be going back to the mansion now?"
"Yes, now that we’re done talking, I should probably return home."
"Can’t you stay here a little longer, you’re returning this quick?"
She sighed, "After our marriage this place will be my home, and I won’t get to see much of my family after that..."
Hamon was dumbfounded by the sad tone in her voice. What was he thinking! She’d definitely miss her family after she moved to his house. He quickly arranged his expression and replied, "Alright, let me at least take you back home then."
"Huh, no no, you don’t have to do that, My carriage_"
"I insist, you want to be with your family, but I want to be with you. So if I take you home I can get to spend more time with you on the way." He remarked nonchalantly.
Ara was tongue tied at his words. He wanted to be with her...wasn’t that something a real lover would say?
"What_"
"Cough! cough!"
She wanted to ask him what he meant, but heard someone coughed behind her, she turned her head, and saw Oliver at the entrance with an awkward expression on his face.
Could it be that Hamon said those words because Oliver was in the room?
_Oh, he was only acting, because of Oliver._ she thought, and glanced back at Hamon, he really was a good actor after all. Their future marriage would work out really well with his acting.
"Alright, you can take me home." She affirmed. Then Hamon turned towards Oliver who still stood awkwardly at the entrance and ordered, "Get Astral ready."
