"If the bastard makes his first wife the crown princess, no other powerful families would want their daughters to be a concubine."

The first wife was considered the lawful wife. And women who married afterwards were placed in a lower position. If the crown Prince wanted other wives, the difference in status between the first wife and the others was huge. The more powerful the elites was, the more likely he wouldn’t want his daughter to be in a lower position.

Furthermore, to make an alliance with Hamon meant to turn their backs on Merona. Nobody would like to cross her, and no family would allow their daughters become a concubine. As long as she lived, she’d prevent him from getting any alliance with any powerful families.

"Wow! You are so smart, Sister. But I still think there shouldn’t be a crown princess to begin with."

"Aiya, Edwin. Can’t you see the king’s days are numbered? He knows he will die any time soon, and he’s keen for the crown Prince to get married before his death. Even though I stop the marriage, sooner or later the Prince will find someone we don’t want. So I can afford his marriage to the Boxton’s daughter."

"Hmm. You are right. After all the Boxton’s won’t be in the picture forever, we will get rid of them anyway, so it doesn’t matter." He affirmed.

Merona smiled at this like-minded brother of hers, "l like your thinking, brother. Everything will be ours after Fredrick’s death."

"Yes, Sister."

"We will kill the bastard before he even thinks of taking a second wife. I want him to watch our Cassius sit on the throne before we kill him. After that the crown Prince and his wife’s life will be over."

"Ha ha ha." Edwin let out a pleased laughter. While Merona smirked and murmured in a low voice, "If he had just stayed in the battlefield and not returned. At least he wouldn’t have watched his precious wife suffer such fate in the first place. I will ruin them both together."

And if by any chance the bastard has a child in their short time of marriage, she intended to kill it too. Before Hamon’s eyes, she’d kill his wife and child. And if the child was still in the womb, she’d cut open the stomach in front of him. She’d make sure he begged her for mercy for his family!

_How about I let them birth a child before killing them together?_ she thought. She had planned to kill each of the people involved with the crown Prince before finally killing him in the end. Imagining his anguished cries seemed to suppress the anger in her mind. As an evil smile spread on her face.

_This is just the beginning, Hamon!_

She then said to her brother, "If he wants Arabella Boxton, Let him have her. It will be satisfying to give him what he wants and then take it away from him later."

"Alright, Sister." Despite his expectations, his sister had no intentions to interfere with the wedding. On the contrary, she hoped that Hamon would be happy and so in love on his wedding day. That way it would be worth watching the miserable, wretched expression on his face when she takes away everything that was ever precious to him.

As Merona was discussing her plans with her brother. Prince Cassius barged into the room, her eyebrows raised in question, "What are you doing here, son?"

"Mother, I’m here to ask for your permission for my party coming up." he remarked as he made his way and sat down lazily beside his mother.

"I’m not giving you permission for that again, after what happened the last time."

"But, mother_"

"I know you like your women and you can’t help it, but you have to learn to control yourself now that you will be king. Besides, What made you force yourself on a well-known noble daughter?"

He pouted in a spoiled manner, "I am sorry, mother. It’s not my fault, I can’t help it when I see a beauty like that. And it was amusing how she played hard to get with me, so I did it my own way. But I promise it won’t happen again this time."

Merona clicked her tongue displeased, as this wasn’t the first time she was having such conversation with her son. Cassius’ appetite for beautiful women had not been fixed. She had used her power and position to keep the gossip about him forcing himself on women down, but if he continued this way, it could ruin all their plans to make him the next king.

Furthermore, they had to be more careful now that Hamon was back in the palace, "Son, I’m warning you for the last time, stay low for now. You won’t throw any party."

Edwin who had been listening, chimed in, "Sister, he is a man. Let him be, when a man is young it is normal for him to like women. You have to understand him, too."

"I know, but he should stay low for now, when he becomes king he can take as many women as he desires. Right now, I don’t want him repeating what he did the last time."

Edwin shut his mouth and didn’t say anything again. Meanwhile, Cassius didn’t care what the two were saying. He would throw his party in secret. It wasn’t the first time he’d done it, because he knew how to get away with it.

He had already written down a list of the women he’d invite to the party. And the first person on his list was; Arabella Boxton!

A smile crossed his handsome face as he thought of her beauty.

_She’s going to marry my step brother?_

Cassius had already heard what his mother and uncle talked about awhile ago, as he’d stood outside eavesdropping on their conversation. But his view to the marriage was different.

_I won’t oppose the marriage, but that doesn’t mean I won’t get to have her body before my step brother does. You are my next; Arabella Boxton!_ he smirked at the thought of having her on his bed.
