Chapter 94: Will have her body before my step brother does (part 1)
The next day as the sun rose from the horizon. It was a busy morning for the crown Prince. As the queen’s men had came into his residence without his permission. He had the right to punish them all, and was busy with them at the moment.
Ara had not seen Merek since last night, but she was sure that he was recovering well. She’d thought that Oliver would spread the words of her visiting the prince’s chamber, but there was no such talks. Everything went well, not until she heard something unexpected from her sister.
"What did you just say?!" Ara asked.
Anne’s face was a bit different from usual, as she continued, "They broke in while I was taking a bath last night..."
"They broke in and saw you in your chemise, right?" She inquired, but Anne hesitated, "Well...um."
At Anne’s hesitation Ara slammed her clenched fist on the table, she had thought everything was alright last night, but it turned out to be wrong! How dare they have seen her sister’s body!
"Anne, why didn’t you let me know about this immediately last night?" She questioned, but then remembered she wasn’t in the room last night. Even if Anne had come, she wouldn’t have found her. Ara bit her lips in frustration, while Anne put on a lighter face.
"Oh, sister. Don’t worry, I don’t care about that at all right now..."
"If you don’t care about it, why did you look like you haven’t slept a wink?"
Anne didn’t know what excuse to give at the moment. It wasn’t like she didn’t care about her body being exposed, but she didn’t want her sister to worry about it. And more importantly, she didn’t want to mention Merek’s name, as she’d promised not to expose him. She had no idea if he’d managed to escape last night.
"You know how I always get homesick. I didn’t sleep well because I miss my bed at home. But I’m fine, really." She lied.
Ara nodded, "If you say so then, I won’t worry or report about it." She assured, but deep down she was burning in rage, her green eyes were steaming with anger. She thought about the men they’d captured yesterday, she should have punished them with her own hands.
Ara clenched her fist tightly as she tried to control the anger.

Inside the humongous building of the queen. Merona was seen seated gracefully on her chair with a backdrop of grey drapery. The profusely decorated room was filled with thick smoke of fragrance made by Merona herself.
A man was seated opposite her, he said, "Sister, you should not let this slid lightly, it’s better to take actions at this moment." The man before her was Merona’s younger brother, the sixth Prince of Dumbarton, Prince Edwin. He had long raven black hair, which was tied behind his head. With his dark orbs which gave an impression of a warrior.
"What do you want me to do about it now? That useless bastard never listen to me." She said.
"You should immediately summon the crown Prince. How dare he kill some of your men, and even tortured some of them to the point they couldn’t walk or even hold a sword. He also should be punished the same way!" Edwin bellowed angrily as if they were his men.
Merona raised her hand to stop her angry brother from talking, "Enough, Edwin. I can’t punish him, as he didn’t permit them to enter since they said he was asleep at the time."
More rage erupted in Edwin’s black orbs when Merona recounted the report brought by her subordinate, "That is ridiculous! Sister. Can’t you see they made up a lame excuse for what he did to your men! Am sure that bastard was awake at that time."’
A smile drew on Merona’s beautiful lips, "I know. And I also know the fugitive was sent by the crown Prince. He escaped, so am sure he was covering up for the man." She said nonchalantly.
The way Merona was talking as if it didn’t concern her, seemed to inflame Edwin even further, "Sister, you are talking_"
"Enough, Edwin."
He immediately snapped his mouth shut at her warning. She then continued, "isn’t it quite amusing how the Prince seems to have grown up more formidable? I never expected he would turn out this way. He’s straight...I have never seen anything like that before."
"What straight? He will forever be a low life bastard! I can finish him up with a snap of my fingers." Edwin grumbled, he was dissatisfied with how his sister was praising the Prince in his presence.
Merona tapped the table lightly with her fingers and muttered in a low voice, "I never expected him to return from the battlefield. I have planned to make Cassius the crown Prince after killing the duke and the king, but the son of a cow suddenly returned and ruined everything for me!"
Edwin noticed her troubled face and quickly replied, "Don’t worry, Sister. We are still figuring out how to get rid of that pain of a Prince." He assured, "And...is it true that the Prince will marry the eldest daughter of the Boxton household? I heard he personally visited the Boxton mansion to ask for her hand in marriage."
"Oh, is that so..."
A marriage between those two would mean that the general would be directly obligated to the crown Prince. Nevertheless, the rumors about the curse on the Prince had repeated imploded his relationships with any powerful families, and they had been elites who avoided giving their daughters to Hamon because of Merona as well.
"I see." She continued to tap on the table with her nails. Edwin, resumed with a confident voice to please his sister, "I have plan in advance to ruin the marriage. It will never happen_"
"You don’t have to interfere with it."
"What?" He was taken by surprise, he hadn’t even explained his plans yet. Merona continued, "Let them get married if they want to. Don’t ruin the marriage in anyway, understand?"
"Sister, do you even hear yourself? The Boxton’s families have raised generals for generations now, If he marries their daughter, they will join forces. We can’t ignore that_"
"It is better than the crown Prince joining forces with a princess of another land or a daughter of a more powerful family in the kingdom...And I heard the daughter of the Royce household has interest in him"
At the mention of the Royce household, Edwin turned quiet. The family was one of the powerful families in the land apart from the Felstead family. A frown drew on his forehead, "But, all the daughters of the Royce were already married...unless you’re talking about Luella Royce?"
"Yes, that’s right. Someone told me she has eyes on him after meeting him at the grand ball."
"If he takes her as his first wife..." He trailed off. At present, Luella was the only eligible person in the Royce household, who could marry Hamon. The rest were already married with children, but the problem was that Luella was few years older than Hamon and rumors had it that she had affairs with different men, everything about the lady was bad news.
Luella Royce, judged men by their appearance more than anyone else did. Hamon was a handsome man, that any woman would be on her knees to beg him for marriage.
Merona continued, "If the crown Prince wants the throne, he would marry just any powerful family’s daughter. And if Luella comes to him for marriage, he may agree. So why not let him take the Boxton’s daughter instead? They are not that powerful anyway."
"Oh, Sister. I didn’t think that far. But after he marries Lady Boxton, he can still take another wife. What if he gets a second wife from a more powerful family?"
The corner of Merona’s lips crept upwards, "I thought you’re smart, Edwin. But it turns out you’re not."
"...?"
"If the bastard makes his first wife the crown princess, no other powerful families would want their daughters to be a concubine."
