Chapter 93: Take your hand off!

Ara knew Hamon was strong, but she had never had the idea to go up against him or saw him spar with his men in her past life. "I didn’t know he’d spar with his men..." She muttered.

"Of course he does. And in all my entire life, I have never seen anybody as strong as his highness. You should see him on the battlefield, man. He fights like a hungry beast!...Even I’m terrified sometimes..." Den’s voice trailed off, but his words stayed in Ara’s mind.

She recalled some of the memories of Hamon on the battlefield. All drenched in blood, defeating hundreds of enemies. Suddenly, another memory flashed to her mind, it was the time when she went to find him on the battlefield to propose. She remembered how he looked different, he had long dirty claws, with big fangs and how his eyes shone like burning flames. She recalled, how he used his claw to rip off the opponent’s head.

She recalled his words.

_ Let me ask you this...you know I could be a monster, right?_

Hamon had always called himself a monster, but now that she thought about it, she wondered why he’d transformed like that? Could it really be that he was...a monster?

Ara lingered over those unanswered questions in her mind. She was lost in thoughts not even realizing they’d reached where Hamon was standing waiting for them until he spoke,

"What took you this long?" He asked with his eyebrows raised in question. Ara glanced up at him then looked around to see that some of the soldiers who had left before her were yet to return, so in what way did she take long?

Ara didn’t protest and just said, "We couldn’t capture them earlier, as they have already scattered around the place. So it took us time to get them."

Den dropped all the five unconscious men onto the ground, and immediately ran to Ara’s side and hugged her shoulders with one hand, then said to Hamon, "This new guy is really good at_"

Hamon’s face was quick to darken as he threw a hostile glare at Den, "Take that off right this instance before I rip it off your body." He warned in a dangerously low voice, but Den was taken aback, "W-what?"

"I said take you hand off his shoulders this instance!" Hamon’s tone was deadly this time, a hint of murderous intent swirling in his deep crimson eyes that seemed it be aflame. Den shivered slightly and innocently glanced down at where his hand was hugging the new guy’s shoulders, to him, it was a normal thing to do with a friend. And it wasn’t the first time he’d held a soldier by the shoulders. So why was His Highness threatening to rip his hands off for doing it now?

Before Ara could say anything, Den had quickly withdrew his large hand from her shoulders, as Hamon was emitting such a deadly energy that looked as if he’d really cut Den’s limb if his hand remained on her shoulders.

Ara stared at Hamon’s darkened eyes for awhile, but didn’t comment and just continued to report as if nothing happened, "We didn’t get to capture all the men back there. Den and I will go back to help the others."

Den was quick to agree, "Yes, my man. Let’s go_"

Hamon cut off his words, "Den, you go alone, you don’t need the soldier to come with you."

He was a bit disappointed but with the glaring look in Hamon’s eyes he was quick to agree, "Yes, your highness. I will go alone!" He exclaimed in a bit high pitched voice, then bowed and rushed into the bushes they’d came from earlier.

Ara immediately moved a step closer to Hamon to say, "Why did you do that? It’s not like if we go together I’d stay long." She muttered.

"Don’t you think you should praise me for standing here patiently and not coming to drag you out of that place for staying long?" He questioned in serious tone as if that was the right thing to do.

Ara had wanted to retort back but just decided not to argue with him out here, she shook her head in disbelief instead. Just then Oliver came running towards them gasping for breath as he said,

"Your Highness! We finally found Merek!"

As soon as Merek left the building where Anne was staying, he saw the crown Prince’s men nearby. He had came out not knowing if he would be captured without Anne’s protection, but when he saw the crown Prince’s men were everywhere, it meant he was safe for now.

Hamon and Ara hurried to where Merek was sitting leaning against a tree as he was still bleeding badly. Oliver brought them there and returned to where he was watching over the queen’s men.

"Your Highness..." Merek tried to stand up to greet the crown Prince. But Hamon gently pushed him back down, "Don’t move, how are you feeling?"

Despite the burning pains Merek was feeling, he said, "Am feeling fine now."

"Thank you, Merek. I really appreciate your hard work." Hamon said. But Merek shook his head, "No. don’t, your highness. I’m sorry I failed the mission you gave me."

"Nonsense, Merek. Don’t waste your thoughts on that and only concentrate on your health now."

Ara watched as Merek weakly dropped his head down, it seemed he felt embarrassed for not completing the mission. She stood behind Hamon as she watched the two with a faint smile under the helmet, she was glad Merek was safe.

However, Merek’s black eyes fell on her, "Your Highness, who is that in armor?"

Hamon turned his head back towards Ara, who was standing at a bit distance, then replied nonchalantly, "He’s my new bodyguard."

Ara offered Merek a light nod in greeting.

"Oh, I see..." Merek stared at her with a blank expression. He didn’t have the same attitude as Oliver, but he didn’t seem to welcome her presence either.

_Well...I guess none of them wants me here...But._ Den’s face flashed to her mind. There was still a long night to capture all the men, maybe she should just go and hang out with Den instead of being here.
