Chapter 78: memories of the past (part 1)
He continued in a more serious tone, "Are you really going to marry him?"
"Yes, brother."
His brows furrowed, "But why him?...If he likes you, Why not make you his second wife?" He asked.
Ara was quick to refuse,"No, I don’t want that."
"Why?" He questioned displeased. He was aware of the rumors that said; the crown Prince was cursed and his first wife would die a miserable death in solitude. He wouldn’t want his sister to be in such position.
Ara resumed, "Because I want to be his crown princess." She expressed her intent calmly and clearly.
Henry’s jaw clenched tightly in anger. He never thought his sister was this power hungry, and would risk her life just for that? "Why do you desire to be the crown princess this much?" He asked.
"I don’t want to be a concubine and I don’t want someone else to take that position from me."
According to the time she’d spent after returning to the past, there was only a few months before Cornell would become king. Time was short for her to stop him and protect her family.
"Why are you doing all this? What if the curse falls on you?" He asked with a slightly trembling voice.
"That will never happen, brother." She assured firmly.
"How are you so sure? The Prince is not for you, You will only live unhappy with him. You can choose any other man out there and I’ll accept, but not the crown Prince!" Henry’s frustration was building up to a mountain, but Ara continued on with a simple smile that did not suit the atmosphere at the moment.
"Brother...how can I be unhappy when I have you all with me? Unhappiness to me would be to not have all of you with me..."
Even though she was hurt by her father’s coldness not long ago, she had still cried about him and even when he didn’t acknowledge her feelings, she still spent countless nights crying whenever she remembered him in her previous life.
Ara’s family was hers, whether they liked it or not, she’d still protect them with her life. There was no knowing what magic had turned back time, but it must be a sign from the heavens for her to protect them this time.
Henry’s displeased voice broke her out of her thoughts, "What the heck does marrying the crown Prince got to do with our family?" He asked, His angry expression gradually softened as he waited for her to answer.
"I know you don’t want him for me. But I’ve chosen to marry him, he’s the one I want and for that to happen, I want you to give me your blessings more than anything." She mumbled.
Henry didn’t reply for a moment as if he was in thoughts before he asked, "Are you sure you won’t regret this decision one day?"
Ara shook her head, "I’d never regret it."
Henry was still reluctant, but he did not protest any further upon seeing Ara’s determined expression. He looked into her green eyes and spoke softly, "No matter what...I want you to promise me you will be happy...I will always be here whenever you need me."
Ara’s throat clenched at her brother’s words. Suddenly she remembered memories from her past life. When Henry’s broad back was blocking her from the enemies who were trying to get to her. He had told her then;
_Live your life happily, don’t look back and start over with your life! Go!_
She could never forget those memories of him sacrificing his life for hers. Ara replied with a sincere smile,
"I will always be happy with all of my family with me, brother."

The next day Henry hadn’t said anything about Hamon again, Ara had been afraid he would bring it up again, but fortunately he didn’t.
Few days passed, and Hamon sent a royal carriage to the Boxton mansion to pick up the sisters and bring them to the castle just as he’d promised.
As Ara and Anne stepped out of the Boxton mansion, "Dear Lord! It’s beautiful." Exclaimed Anne at the sight of the royal carriage. The exterior of the carriage was decorated with pure gold. And Anne could hardly keep her mouth closed.
They boarded the carriage then took off towards the direction of the castle. As the carriage arrived, the two young ladies stepped out of the carriage.
"Welcome my ladies. Please, Follow me." Greeted the man assigned to show them inside.
The two followed behind him, as they walked through the gardens, "Wow! Look at those purple flowers, sister." Anne pointed.
Ara turned to the direction, "Yes, they are beautiful indeed..." She trailed off as she suddenly remembered something. Ara still had Hamon’s coat with her ever since that time they rode on a horse on that night, she’d planned to return it today and brought it with her. But she had left it in the carriage.
Ara told her sister to go ahead while she walked back to the royal carriage that brought them to the castle to get the coat. Luckily the carriage was still parked at the same place, but the coachman wasn’t there.
She quickly stepped inside and found the coat on the seat close to where she sat earlier, but just as she was about to step out of the carriage she realized that as she’d stretched into the carriage to reach for the coat, the necklace on her neck had dangled forward hooking onto one of the golden buttons on the coat. When she tried to unhook it,
"Ouch." She winced as the Sharp edge of the necklace suddenly cut her finger, a tiny drop of red quickly coalesced on the injured finger and before she knew it, a drop of her blood touched the red stone on the necklace. She squinted her eyes to see if it was just her illusion or she had actually seen a tiny glow from the necklace, but the next second...
"Haa!" She let out a gasp as her mind seemed to have been suddenly drawn Into a void.
_Coward! You abandoned your kingdom, it’s all your fault they died!_ suddenly the words rang in Ara’s head, and to her utmost surprise, the voice that said those words... were hers.
"Ahh!" She held her head with both hands with furrowed brows her eyes tightly shut as flashes of light passed through her head. It was the long faded memories from her previous life.
"...I remember him!" Her eyes suddenly shot open, shock and slight disbelief dancing in her fiery green orbs.
It took a solid moment for her to realize that... She remembered Hamon from her past life, she didn’t know how she could have forgotten those red eyes of his that looked just like the red stone on her necklace. Those strange heated eyes of his that used to be vivid in her mind in her memories, and now it all came back to her, she finally remembered that she had met Hamon before.
