Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 75: Inviting lips

Chapter 75: Inviting lips

As the door opened slowly with a creak, she was expecting to see her sister. But to her surprise, it was Hamon who entered.

Ara leapt out from her bed, she didn’t expect him to have already finished talking to her father this early. What in heavens name was he doing here?

"How did you know my-"

Hamon interrupted as if he already knew what she was going to say, "I know it’s your room, I’ve been here before, remember? But then I asked your maid to show me to your room in case of any suspicious." He uttered calmly.

_How forgetful was his future wife?_

"...!"

Her mouth fell open and she stiffened on the same spot. She’d forgotten he knew her room when he’d come to take her out on a night outing. Although they were supposed to be lovers, it was not their true relationship. She was already feeling uncomfortable in his presence after what she’d overheard.

She remembered the conversation she heard in the study room and couldn’t help but feel more awkward and uncomfortable than usual.

"May I step in?" He teased.

Ara nodded, "Co-come in..." It was rude of her to keep him standing at the entrance, she cautiously allowed him into the room.

Hamon looked around as he walked in, "I didn’t take note of your room the last I came...It looks simple."

"..."

It was a simple compliment, but he wasn’t wrong. It must look frugal in the Prince eyes.

He continued, "But I like it. I like how simple it looks...completely My style of room."

"Eh?" Ara looked at him surprised.

"It smells like you..." Hamon sniffed the air as he glanced around. He’d so much want to stay here longer.

Ara awkwardly smiled. To avoid being alone with him, she hurriedly uttered, "How about I get you something to drink or snacks?"

"No thanks. I’ve had some refreshments with your father in the study room." Hamon causally sat on her bed, as if it was his. Then patted the space beside him, "Come sit here."

"Huh...O-okay." Ara dragged her feet to the bed and slowly sat a distance away from him. She glanced down at her slightly trembling hands. For a moment there was only silence between the two.

Hamon had a way of making people nervous, but the position she was in, was particularly uncomfortable for her. She heard him say.

"Why are you fidgeting so much?"

"Huh? Am I?" She asked unsure.

"Hmm. Are you nervous because am here to meet your father?" He questioned in a gentle voice.

Of course, she was nervous about that, but that wasn’t the only reason. It was about what he had said to her father in the study room. Everything was supposed to be lies, but his words remained lodged in her heart and mind. It was confusing her even more.

After a moment of hesitation, she replied a beat later. "No, that’s not_"

Hamon chuckled, then leaned his upper body towards her. Currently she was sitting a bit far from him on the bed, but as he’d leaned closer, the space between them was little. The two were so close they could touch each other.

As Hamon narrowed the space between them. Ara reflexively leaned back. He then said in a low husky voice, "How adorable you are."

Ara’s eyes widened, such a word was meant for a charming and lovely little girl. Up until now she had grown up listening to people call her ’Smart’ ’reliable’ not adorable.

"You don’t know what you’re saying-"

"I know what am saying. You look so cute and adorable when you’re nervous. " he paused for a moment then continued, "I know you’re thinking I’d hurt your family, Aren’t you?" He asked.

Of course, she’d been worried about that when he went to the study room with her father. And before he came to visit.

He continued, "Don’t worry, it’s not like they are against our marriage. I won’t harm them." There was something strange in his words, as if he’d harm them if they’d been against the marriage.

Hamon moved even closer to her, "W-why are you m-moving closer." She stuttered nervously. She prepared to leap out of the bed as he’d moved closer, the space between them was now long gone.

Hamon chuckled at her nervous expression. "What’s running in that little mind of yours, future wife? I just want to remove a spider web from your hair."

"Spider web?"

"Where did you go to when I was away? This wasn’t on your hair before..."

She suddenly remembered that she’d passed through the narrow alleyway on the way to the study room window. The servants normally don’t clean those areas most of the time. She had been absorbed on her thoughts and didn’t check what had gotten onto her hair.

Ara raised her hand to her hair,"I’ll clean it myself..."

Hamon gently smacked her hand away, "Don’t move, I’ll do it."

Hamon’s long fingers touched her long red hair, his palm looked thick and rough from spending a long time on the battlefield, but they were delicate. The tendons on the back of his hand looked attractive. Ara quickly looked away innocently, not knowing where to keep her gaze.

He gently brushed away the dirt on her hair, but paused and stared down at her trembling long eyelashes. When he didn’t move his hand, she raised her eyes at him in curiosity. Their eyes met in midair.

Hamon’s red irises were staring straight at her green ones, his eyes burned with a mysterious heat she couldn’t understand. She swallowed dryly, her little action made his eyes fall to her lips. Why was he looking at her like that?

Suddenly, his large hand that was on top of her head, slide down to the back of her head. He slowly bent his back and their faces were inch away. Ara quickly shot her eyes closed at how close he was.

Hamon smiled at her cute reaction. What was she thinking? But he really wanted to taste those lips of hers. And she didn’t seemed to push him away? Her lips looked inviting. Damn! He moved in to have taste...

Bang!

Ara’s eyes flew open at the sound of the door.

The door made a loud noise then followed by voices from the entrance, "We brought you some refreshment- Oh Lord!" Anne halted her steps the moment she saw the position the couple were in. The room was quiet as if it had been doused in cold water.

To Anne and the maids standing outside; it looked like the couple were kissing before they opened the door, "W-we didn’t mean to interrupt! Am sorry!" Anne yelped and hurriedly ran back outside to meet the maids.

Ara quickly came back to her senses and pushed Hamon away from her. He fell off the bed with a loud sound, She shot him a glare, before looking towards the door, "You can come in, it’s alright. You didn’t interrupt anything." Despite her invitation, none of them stepped in. They seemed to think they would get in the way of the couple.

Ara could hear them arguing with each other. "Aiya, I told you two we shouldn’t come now, but you insisted!"

"It’s not my fault, I didn’t know we’ll find them in a situation like this..."

Anne turned back to the maids, "You two hush! I think we should just leave."

However, Ara felt embarrassed to send them away and be left alone with Hamon, she had no idea what came over her earlier, she didn’t want to be left alone with him again. And she had to clear the misunderstanding. Why did she even let him come that close to her?!

Ara glanced towards Hamon who still sat on the floor, the one who started everything. In contrast to her utter embarrassment, he looked so calm as still lake. No, not calm. Actually, he seemed to be really displeased to have been interrupted so suddenly.

Hamon sat back in his original position as he’d been pushed away so hard off the bed by his future wife. He then looked towards the door, "Just come in." There was a sense of pressure in his words.

Anne and the maids slowly entered the room as if they had no choice. Ara sensed the uncomfortable atmosphere and said, "I hope you didn’t misunderstand anything? He was just cleaning some dirt off my hair..."

"Hmm..." only Anne nodded awkwardly.

Ara glared at Hamon again. It was all his fault, but he looked so calm. She shifted her gaze to the tray of snacks her sister was holding. Hamon had said he didn’t care for snacks, but the delicate looking snacks looked quite tempting to her.

"Anne, let’s see what you brought here."

After a moment of hesitation, Anne walked towards the table and put down the tray she’d been holding, she then turned towards Hamon, "I am sorry we interrupted you. I just came here to bring you something to have..." She bowed slightly.

"It’s alright." He said as he strode to the table and sat on the chair, he then glanced up at her and continued, "You are my fiance’s younger sister, Aren’t you?"

Anne nodded."Yes, Y-your Highness."

"Hmm. Your sister has a lot of praises for you when she talks about you." He laughed.

A blush crept up Anne’s cheeks, "I-I’m flattered, Your Highness..."

Ara felt a great load lifted off her mind as she saw how Hamon was speaking warmly to her sister. She had a strong feeling that he would not treat Anne coldly.

He resumed, "How about you sit with us? I want to get to know you better, since it seems my future wife loves you more than she loves me." He teased.

Anne was quick to agree, "Y-yes, Your Highness." She sat apposite him with her face brightened in excitement.

As they started to talk, Ara stared at them for some time before she sat down close to her sister. Hamon was blunt but attentive to what Anne was saying. While Anne was nervous at first, but she grew more and more comfortable as she kept blabbering to the Prince.

Hamon was even smiling at some of her words as he ate the snacks she’d brought. Ara who had joined into the conversation, started to treat the Prince naturally as well, she even poured his tea and handed it to him without realizing it.
