Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 70: Who’s the bastard?

Chapter 70: Who’s the bastard?

Gossips of what happened at the gathering was quick to spread around the kingdom. The sudden brutal appearance of the crown Prince was the the prime topic in society, compound by the fact that he’d spent years on the battlefield before coming back to the castle, and appearing at the grand ball.

Before Hamon showed up, Prince Cassius was the most talked about, but now, things were far different from the past.

However, Ara’s name also became a topic of conversation as well. The revelation that she and the crown Prince had been in a relationship for awhile now, completely took away the bad rumors about Ara.

Hamon had even killed an elite who framed Ara. Now, only the new rumors about Claire was left. Words had spread about how the Tudor’s daughter was jealous of the Boxton’s eldest daughter and even tried to ruined her face.

It was even said that Claire had locked herself up in the mansion.

While Ara on the other hand was trying to find a way to tell her family about Hamon. She had planned to tell her father that; she’d marry the crown Prince, whom she met at the grand ball...

But now, it was out in the open that she had been in a secret relationship with him for a long time.

Ara hadn’t told her sister about it yet. She’d never hidden anything from her before and she was anxious that Anne would be upset about it.

Ara stood outside her sister’s room hesitating to knock, she slowly raised her hand and knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" Came Anne’s voice from inside.

"It’s me, Anne. I want to talk to you about something..."

Anne who was sitting beside her window reading leisurely. Opened the door, "Come in...What do you want to talk about?" Anne asked as she closed the door after Ara stepped in.

"Don’t close the door! I want to say something, but...I don’t think we should talk here. How about we go to the garden and talk over a cup of tea?" Ara said.

"Huh? Are you serious? Why do you look so nervous, sister?" Anne questioned as she had never seen her sister look this nervous before. But still followed behind Ara to the outside garden.

Ara didn’t say a word even after they finished the tea. Anne was already getting inpatient to hear what her sister wanted to talk about,

"Sister...What did you want to talk about?"

"I.." Ara found herself not knowing where to begin. Anne looked at her curiously, but Ara still remained hesitant to start.

Anne knew that her sister was struggling to say whatever she wanted to say, so she poured herself another cup of tea to wait patiently.

Ara watched Anne blow gently on the tea’s steaming surface. She realized that this was really happening, her words would lead to a marriage with Hamon. She’d already made up her mind over and over again that it was the right decision. But this was the first time that she’d reveal it to her family.

"Anne..." She began.

’Heck! How do people reveal their marriage to their sister?!’

"Yes, sister?" Anne quickly answered.

"There...there is..."

Anne tried to prompt her sister further, "Go on, What do you want to say?"

After a moment of hesitation, Ara answered with a stiff voice, "I found my Prince charming, and I love him."

Anne blinked owlishly a few times. Prince charming?! She quickly came back to her senses, "W-what did you just say?! She exclaimed in a loud voice.

"There’s a man I’ve been seeing secretly for a while now...I think he’s the one I want to marry."

"What the hell?!" Anne’s mouth fell open in surprise. She could not believe it, she knew her sister was nervous and struggling to talk, but she never thought that it was because of...a man? She’d never seen her sister express any liking towards any man before.

Silence fell between them for a moment, before Ara continued to say, "I didn’t mean to hide it from you..."

"For how long have you been seeing each other, and who’s this man? I want to know the bastard who wants to take away my sister!" Anne uttered with a displeased look.

The moment was finally here for Ara. It was one thing to tell her sister that she’d found a man, but was even more nerve-wracking to tell her who the man was.

"Um...well_"

"Tell me is the bastard from this kingdom?! I will go_"

Ara hurried to say, "it’s the crown Prince."

"What?! Th-the crown Prince?!" Anne’s eyes widened even more. She’d called the crown Prince...bastard?! Was that why they danced at the grand ball?

Anne stared at her sister in disbelief as if to ask; ’Are you sure it’s the crown Prince?’ Ara slowly nodded stiffly.

"Oh my goodness! My sister is very lucky!" Anne squealed and leapt from her seat and jumped to hug Ara. She’d thought they looked beautiful dancing together at the grand ball, but she’d never thought they were already in love.

Anne finally calmed her excitement and sat back down, her blue eyes shone with curiosity, "Why didn’t you tell me about it all this while? Now, tell me everything. I want to know the whole story!"

Anne’s words made Ara even more nervous. She’d already talked with Hamon about their new fake love story, and she had been perfectly prepared this time. No matter what, she had to make everyone believe that she was marrying the crown Prince out of love or else her family would never allowed the marriage.

She didn’t want to worry her family. Ara had practiced what to say to her sister in the mirror before coming here, she spoke, "The crown Prince didn’t want our relationship to be known yet until he comes to meet father...He had asked me to keep it a secret until he comes..." Ara felt strange heaviness in her chest about having to lie to her sister, but sometimes life goes well when someone was ignorant.

"How did you first meet?" Anne asked.

"Well...we ran into each other few months ago. Since he was far away, we don’t meet often."

Anne’s smile dropped, "I feel bad, because you hid it from me all this time..."

Ara felt guilt in her heart. The whole love with Hamon was nothing but a big lie, but this situation was completely real, she never wanted to hide anything from her sister as much as possible.

"I...am really sorry."

Anne’s disappointed expression went away when she saw how sorry her sister looked. They had been together for a long time and they did not need much words to understood each other. From Anne’s point of view of the situation. Ara loved the crown Prince a lot to keep the secret from her.

"So was the crown Prince the man who sent those gifts?"

"Yes."

"Oh my! That’s wonderful!" She’d been wondering who would send all those expensive gifts, but it turned out to be the crown Prince!

"He’s not just handsome, but also a romantic man too. I know he must be so in love with you."

Ara nodded awkwardly as she suddenly felt embarrassed of her position.

"Do you also like him the same way?"

"Huh?"

"I said do you also love him too?"

"Um..." Ara paused for a moment, then said, "Yes. I...love him so much."

Hearing this, Anne felt there was no need to ask anymore questions, "Well...you have my consent."

"What?"

"Since you’re in love with each other...am ok with it."

"R-really?"

Anne nodded, then took Ara’s hands and said, "Am happy for you, sister! Congratulations. When I saw you together at the grand ball, I thought you two were a perfect match. So this is an incredible news for me!"

Ara was still confused despite Anne’s cheerfulness, "So you are not against it?"

"Why should I be?"

Ara had thought that her sister would be upset, but instead she seemed to be excited about the whole thing.

Anne continued, "All I want is for you to be happy, and as long as I know the crown Prince loves you the same. Am fine with it."

Even though the situation was fake, the warmth in Anne’s words were real. Ara smiled, "Thank you, Anne."

"Oh! Am glad you told me, but I think you should also tell father and brother Henry about it soon."

"Yes. I plan to tell father about it as soon as possible."

Anne once again gathered Ara’s hands in hers, "Let me be there when you tell father about it. You know how father could be sometimes."

Ara nodded. In the aristocratic society where political marriages were the most common. She had no idea how her father would react to the news.

"Thank you for your support, Anne. I’ll make sure to send a letter to brother to let him know."

Ara wanted to tell her brother as soon as possible, before he heard it from the people. After the conversation with Anne, Ara sat at her desk and began to write her letter to Henry. She knew how protective her brother was, she wondered how he would react to the news of her marriage.
