Chapter 69: Let me rest on your lap

Ara didn’t know what to say, she had thought to ask help from Hamon, but didn’t want to burden him again, she was still not used to relying on anybody.

"I am sorry...I didn’t want to burden you with it..." She didn’t give him any excuses and merely apologized, because the marriage was not hers alone. The misconception could have affected Hamon as well.

He chuckled, "Burden me? If something like this happens again, let me know first...I almost killed everyone back there because of this." He said it as a joke.

But Ara could not see the joke at the man’s head rolling on the floor. She shot him a serious glare,

"Don’t ever do that again. If you kill like that, You will be seen as a tyrant to the people."

"Tyrant? The people can view me as they see fit. I was only dealing with the person who tried to torment what is mine...and besides those elites you see there are no innocent people, most of them have people’s blood on their hands."

His words were right, the elites were used to having everything go their own ways, if it doesn’t, they wouldn’t hesitate to kill to get it done.

Hamon continued, "I never really cared about what they think or call me. If they want to ruin your honor and ruin our marriage, then I won’t spare them for that. The rumors could have caused you a severe punishment."

He smiled coldly, "Then I will kill all the men who came in contact with you. All of them."

"What if they’re a lot?" She asked further testing the waters.

"Didn’t I just say I’ll kill them all? And if you don’t stop meeting them...then I’ll kill all the men in this kingdom. If I were the only man left then perhaps you’d stop and have only me."

Ara swallowed dryly. His answer was beyond imagination.

"Wouldn’t it be best for you to just kill me to end the trouble of killing the whole men?"

It was common sense, if you don’t like it, You kill the person who caused everything.

Hamon chuckled as if what she said was funny. He then pointed to himself, "Me, kill you? Ridiculous, if it takes to kill a hundred men for you, I’d do it in the blink of an eye, if it takes to kill a thousand, I’d do it without a second thought, if I have to kill every man that walks the face of this earth, I’d do it even if it takes everything I am and my whole being, even if the rumors turned out to be true, I’d kill everyone else except you ."

Ara was dumbfounded by his comment.

Hamon had killed the man who claimed to have bedded her, and almost punished Claire and the other elites. And then he said he’d kill all the men in the kingdom...

But would never kill her? It was strange.

"I’m grateful that you’ll save me in any situation. And because of you, the rumors will die down soon."

"Why didn’t you let me take this opportunity to punish lady Tudor for starting all this?" He asked curiously.

"What you’ve done is enough for now, the rumors will disappear anyway. And lady Tudor’s reputation will be tarnished, that is enough for a punishment."

"You are too soft on your punishment..." He murmured.

Ara smiled faintly. He wouldn’t understand it yet, but she hadn’t made the decision because she was soft or weak.

"And you are too aggressive. Are you forgetting the Tudor household are very important in this kingdom? It wouldn’t be a good idea to touch their daughter."

It was a fight between the noble daughters, but if Hamon laid a hand on Claire, then the Tudor family would move in to fight as well. That wouldn’t be helpful to Hamon if he wanted to be the next king.

"When you become king, then we can punish her and the rest."

Hamon now understood why she had stopped him back there. He felt a yawn trying to escape from his mouth. Why was he feeling sleepy all of a sudden?

Hamon sighed, he couldn’t remember the last time he slept well. Sitting here with Ara made all his problems feel like they’d disappeared completely.

Hamon stared at Ara for a while, then after a moment, he shifted on the bench then laid his head on her lap.

His sudden action made Ara exclaim, "What the hell do you think you’re doing?!"

"Just this once let me rest on your lap...I feel tired after dealing with those people."

Ara didn’t know what to do, she looked down at Hamon and saw that he had already closed his eyes. Was he really going to sleep on her lap? He looked...tired. She suddenly felt the urge to stroke his hair.

She raised her hand hesitantly and stroked his sliver hair, she had never seen his face this close before.

At her soft touch, Hamon adjusted himself on the bench and laid his head well on her lap, then spoke in a drowsy voice, "I will come to meet your family soon..." After he said that, Hamon fell silent.

Did he just fall asleep? Ara thought. But her mind went back to what he just said. He would come to meet her family soon? She would have to explain her relationship with Hamon to her family beforehand. They would find out soon regardless, and it was best if they heard it from her first.

As Ara thought about what to say to her father. Hamon’s steady breathing broke her thoughts. He had really fallen asleep on her lap. Was he that tired? She wondered what he did to tire him out?

Ara put aside her thoughts at the moment. Then gently stroked his hair as she watched his relaxed expression as he slept. He looked different.

_He sleeps like a baby_ She smiled faintly.

The sky was already getting dark as the sun set behind the horizon.
