Chapter 68: Have a talk

Hamon’s cold eyes moved towards Claire and her friends. He had been wanting to deal with the lady for a long time now, as she had even dared to send her men after his future wife. And then now, spreading baseless rumors about her.

Ara saw how Hamon was intimidating the ladies with his cold eyes as he moved towards them. She needed to stop him, she didn’t want Hamon to turn into a tyrant before everyone’s eyes. And if he was doing all this because of her, she needed to stop him before he did something that would make the people hate him more than they had.

Ara quickly took his arm to stop him from moving forward, "Your Highness, That’s enough...Let them be, am alright." She hugged his arm to her body to draw him back.

With Ara’s gentle touch and warm body heat. Hamon’s tensed posture finally loosened. He then said, "You are my woman, and I hate it that they’re all talking bad about you...and if anybody here dares touch you...I’ll kill them with my own hands." He gave a hidden warning for everyone to hear.

Ara quickly nodded in understanding, "Yes, I am. And am sure they’ve all understood...let’s leave this place, I don’t want to stay any longer." She pulled his arm.

Hamon furrowed his brows when she pulled at his arm. He hadn’t even punished the culprit yet, and she wanted to leave?

Without a word, Hamon allowed her to pull him away. Ara left the hall pulling Hamon along, unaware of how the people were looking at her with the same expression when the man’s head fell to the floor.

Even after the couple left the hall and the door was closed. The hall was still engulfed in a dead silence.

Claire stood frozen as a tear rolled down her cheek. She bit her lips to stop herself from crying out to further embarrassed herself. She wiped away the tear drop.

"I will kill you myself, Arabella Boxton." Claire muttered under her breath. How could she let the bitch go after this? The bitch had taken away her man from her! The crown Prince had even noticed her, he...He was going to even move closer to her, but the bitch pulled him away!

’I will kill you disgusting whore! For Stealing everything away from me!’

Claire angrily strode out of the hall, as her three companions followed behind her. The maid who had been spreading the rumors, hurriedly caught up to Claire to ask for her payment.

"Milady. Wha_"

Claire slapped the maid before she could complete her words, "Shut up, you’re useless and stupid!" She then pushed the maid, "Move away from me dirty rag. Don’t you ever stand close to me again!" She warned, then walked away.

Eleanora and Catherine, flinched at the the look in Claire’s eyes.

Ara walked pulling Hamon behind her. He followed behind her without a word, but when he noticed they’ve walked quite far away from the gathering, he spoke,

"Where are you taking me, future wife?"

"Huh." She halted.

Ara hadn’t realized they’ve walked this far, she had been walking without direction the whole time, her mind was a mess after what took place back in the hall.

She looked around and saw there were in a garden like place, then noticed a long bench beside a fountain.

"Can we sit there and talk?" She pointed to the bench.

Hamon nodded, then turned to Oliver who had been following behind them, "Guard the place, don’t let anybody approach."

"Yes, Your Highness." Oliver bowed his head, then left the place.

They walked towards the wooden bench, but before Ara could sit down, "Wait a second." Hamon stopped her, then took off his coat and draped it on the bench, "You can sit now."

Ara sat slowly, she stared at Hamon, his expression was completely different from when they were at the hall. There was something different with the way he treated her.

_Why is he being so nice to me?_

It felt strange with how his behavior and action was soft towards her. Ara shook the thought aside, that was not the point now. She had some questions to ask him.

"When did you hear about the rumors?" She asked.

Hamon’s answer was, "Yesterday."

"Was that why you sent for me?"

"Yes. Since you couldn’t meet me, I decided to come instead."

Ara paused for a moment before she said, "Lady Tudor made up the rumors based on our meeting...you should have told me in advance before you revealed our relationship to everybody."

She had put in so much effort in hiding their relationship. She once covered his hair with a veil and even went to meet him halfway in the middle town. He had bought a private box at the theater, and even rented an entire restaurant to hide their identities. So far, the both of them had made the effort, and they had even made the people to believe that their first meeting was at the grand ball.

But today, Hamon had thrown everything out in public. Now, if words spread out, she’d have to explain all that to her family.

"We’ve worked so hard to hide this, but now you..."

"Hmm. I also didn’t plan to reveal it yet, but I was not going to let some baseless rumors tarnish our wedding plans"

Ara didn’t know what to say. The breakdown of the contract marriage would be the worst of all to her. That was why she had tried all ways to bring down the rumors.

Hamon continued, "Why didn’t you asked for my help when you heard the rumors? You should have discussed it with me...I will always be there for you."

He had thought she would come to him, but his stubborn fiance tried to fix it herself, he had been so angry when Merek reported to him about the rumors and the man who claimed to have bedded her. He wasn’t satisfied with how he had killed the man.

Heck, he wanted to do it all over again!
