Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 35: Going out

Chapter 35: Going out

Ara immediately came back to her senses when she felt his warm breath brush past her ear. She took a few steps back, then shook her head, " I don’t think it’s a good idea to go out together, when we’re not yet married."

"Why do you think so? I thought we’re already engaged?" He asked with a raised brow.

"We aren’t officially engaged. And in reality, right now we have nothing to do with each other yet, Hamon..." Ara paused when she saw the somewhat disappointed expression in his eyes, then continued to say, "besides, I can’t go out when my family soldiers are outside guarding the house." She explained softly using that as an excuse while trying not to offend the Prince. Ara heard him ask,

"Are you worried about what people would think if they see us together?" At his question, Ara looked up to see an amused expression in his eyes, with his lips pulled up in a smirk.

Of course she was worried about what people would think, wasn’t he also worried? He’s the crown Prince. He should be worried about any more bad rumors about him. Ara slowly nodded at his question, but his next words left her mouth hanging open.

"Hmm, I’m curious to know what kind of rumors would spread about us. How about we give them something to gossip about?" He remarked in a nonchalant tone.

Ara’s breath caught in her throat for a moment. She wasn’t sure if he was joking or being serious, because in order to be a king, one had to maintain their behavior in public. And it was a taboo for a man and a woman to spend time together without being officially engaged or married.

"Haven’t we decided that our first meeting will be at the grand ball? We can’t be seen together before then!" Ara exclaimed with a serious expression. She was being practical, and the Prince was acting childish.

Hamon chuckled at her expression, "Seeing you mad is more difficult than fighting a battle...I don’t plan to stay long anyway, I just came out to see you, but am not forcing it on you to come out with me. You can choose to refuse if you want to." She couldn’t understand the expression in his eyes as he said those words.

It was difficult for Ara to comprehend why he came to the mansion just to see her, amidst such a tight schedule, especially when they would meet each other at the grand ball, he came all the way just to see her face? Everything didn’t make sense to her. but somehow, it made her feel guilty to refuse. However, with the soldiers outside, she wouldn’t be able to go out with him. When she wasn’t saying anything. He said,

"I’ll get going then, have a goodnight’s sleep."

After a short moment of struggling internally, Ara quickly ran to Hamon, who was already planning to step out through the window, she caught his arm to stop him. At her slightest touch, Hamon stopped and turned to look at her with his burning red eyes with a questioning expression.

Ara quickly withdrew her hand before saying, "Don’t go, I’ll come with you."

At her words, Hamon felt a strange sweetness engulf him, he smiled with his dimples visible. His face lit up like a kid who just received a Christmas gift. Ara’s lips couldn’t help but also tug up a little at his childish looking expression, who would have thought the Prince everyone thought to be a scary monster would smile like that just because of something so little? Ara heard him ask, "Are you sure?"

"Yes, but on one condition...you’ll have to cover your hair so no one would recognise you when you show up at the ball." She said as she walked to her suitcase.

People might not recognise him as the Prince now, but they will know when he appeared at the grand ball. She needed to be careful, she wouldn’t want to ruin their first meeting at the ball for this little mistake.

Hamon didn’t say anything else and behaved more compliantly. He had a gentle expression on his face as he watched her look through her suitcase, as he saw Ara brought out a black veil. Puzzlement flickered over his face,

"What do you plan to do with that thing in your hands?" Hamon asked with his brows knitted together, as if it wasn’t obvious what she was going to do with it.

"To cover your sliver hair of course." She stated the obvious.

"What?" He asked surprise.

At Hamon’s confused expression, Ara didn’t wait for his permission, and strode to the longest area in her room and drew out the little tea stool, she placed it in front of Hamon then climbed on top of it, Ara swung the black veil over his head. Their face drew closer.

Hamon who initially had a surprised expression now watched her with an amused smile on his face. Ara was too busy trying to tie the veil over his head and was unaware of how close she was to him. He could smell her sweet feminine fragrance wafting into his nose, her breath blowing lightly against his cheeks, She had a focused expression on her face, as if she was doing a very important work and doesn’t want to be distracted. Hamon couldn’t hold back his chuckles.

"I can’t believe you want the dignified Prince of Findara to hide his identity from his subjects?"

Ara’s hands paused at his deep low laughter, she felt his warm breath on her face, that was when she realized how close they were. As her eyes met his, her breath caught for a moment. Ara quickly took her hands off his head and was about to climb down the tea stool, when suddenly Hamon leaned in a little more, his face was just an inch away from hers. Her heart skipped a beat when he held her waist to pull her upper body towards his, and said in a deep husky voice,

"If you want me to wear the veil to hide my identity, at least finish tying it up with your own hands, or I won’t wear it."

Ara stared at Hamon with wide eyes. The two were so close enough that they could feel each other’s breath at the slightest exhale. Ara stood frozen on the stool, she could feel his strong arms around her waist, unable to move away from his hold. The prince still had a smile on his face.

After a moment of hesitation, Ara decided to do as he wanted, at least to escape his simmering gaze, with faintly trembling fingers. Ara grabbed the veil and tied it on his head concealing his rare sliver long hair, now his hair was completely hidden under the veil,

"Do you like it this way?" Ara finally released her halted breath as Hamon had moved a little, but not that much because his hands were still around her waist keeping her in place. As he used his other hand to touch the veil on his head, "That should be good, wife." He teased.

Ara felt a blush creep up her cheeks up to her ears as she heard him address her as ’wife’ "We’re not married yet, don’t call me that." She said softly.

"Oh, I almost forgot we aren’t married, as this moment feels like my wife is helping me get ready for an outing, and with the way am holding you right now, made me think we’re already married." Hamon had his mischievous smirk on his face as he teased her, but there was a scorching heat in his gaze as he stared at her, it made her feel uneasy.

"Shall we leave already?" Ara asked coming to her senses as she quickly smacked his hands away and climbed down the stool.

His words didn’t sound like a joke to her, and the way his gaze burned deep into hers, made her more confused. Hamon was a enigmatic man, every time she met him, her curiosity about him seemed to grow, he confused her to no end, she still hadn’t figured out how he was able to come and go anytime he wanted to. Did he also teleport to her room today? She had a lot of questions for him, so going out with him tonight might make her understand him better.

She heard him say, "Yes let’s go."

Ara had suggested they went out through the gate, Hamon didn’t argue and followed behind her, as expected, "Who is this, my lady?" The soldiers were wary of Hamon’s appearance. Ara blocked any of the question they would ask by saying,

"Father sent him to get some important documents from here in the mansion, he’s one of father’s right hand soldiers, so I asked him to escort me out to get some things."

Hamon glanced at Ara disbelievingly, him? Her father’s soldier? She couldn’t have come up with a more dignified and noble identity for him but a soldier? And not just any soldier but one used as a messenger and an escort? He scoffed internally, this future wife of his was really amazing.

As the soldiers guarding the holiday home were all Henry’s men, and they weren’t that familiar with all of the general’s soldiers, they didn’t argue or try to question Hamon, because she’d said he was general Richard’s right hand soldier, that meant he was superior to them, as they were still training and had never been to the battlefield.

The soldiers moved out of the way, they were so scared to not offend a higher ranked soldier, that they didn’t even question how he got inside the mansion.

Seeing their slightly petrified expressions, Hamon who had wanted to protest felt slightly better, well, at least there was that revering look in their eyes.
