Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 339: Hamon!
Chapter 339: Hamon!
Ara eventually took Hara back home, however Hara had cried all the way back to the palace insisting that she wanted to go back to the place where her father was. Ara was also finding it hard to not believe her daughter as well. After seeing the dead body on the snowy ground, she was also convinced that her husband had done it judging from how the head was sperated from the body. Only Hamon killed like that with his claws.
Could it be that Hara was right? Even Ara herself felt the urge to go back and search the place herself, but she didn’t want her daughter to get the thought too hard on her head again. However, if it was really Hamon, shouldn’t he be here by now? But...
Now that Ara thought about it, she had been warned by Emma that even if her husband returned, he might not be the same again. He could return without any memories or even return as a completely different person, so could it be that the person who saved Hara was really Hamon with no memories of his life? If that was the case, she needed to find him and help him remember.
Ara, who was currently in her children’s room now turned towards Hara who was still sobbing and telling her twin brother about how their father had saved her,
"...Raha, he also teleported just like me, he also killed the bad guy with one snap. Father is very handsome and, his-his hair is just like yours. I...But mother refused to believe me, she..."
"I believe you Hara." Ara said without even realizing it until the words had left her mouth. The twins turned their heads towards her at the same time. She inhaled deeply then approached them on the bed,
"Hara, you said your father doesn’t remember me or you two?" Ara questioned, she needed to know if it was really her Hamon who had no memories or someone else.
Hara bobbed her head, "Yes...he said he doesn’t have a wife nor a daughter when I told him I was his daughter. But I told him we miss him, and also told him to celebrate the winter’s celebration with us. We could go back and..."
Ara gently stroked her daughter’s hair, "Listen, Hara, we don’t have to go back to search for him. If he is really your father, he will be here for the winter’s celebration."
Raha also hugged his sister from the side when he noticed tears pooled up in her red eyes again, "Hara don’t cry anymore. Mother is right, let’s wait for him to come."
With a trembling voice, Hara said, "But what if he doesn’t remember the way back home?"
"That won’t happen, Hara. If he is really Hamon De Biville, he will know the way back home." Ara wrapped her arms around her twins, "Don’t cry anymore, we will make this winter celebration grand to welcome your father back home."
Ara could feel it in her heart that her husband was back. She had waited for seven long years holding on to the belief that; if two hearts were meant to be together, no matter how long it takes, no time was too long, no matter how tough it seems, fate will bring them back together again to share their love forever.
---
The day of the winter’s celebration finally arrived, as Ara had decided to make it a grand celebration, she invited a lot of guests from various kingdoms. She stood in front of the large mirror in her dressing room as she stared back at her reflection in the mirror. Ara wore a beautiful deep blue dress, it was one of the dresses Hamon had gifted her after their wedding.
It had several layers underneath it’s skirt making it look big, it hugged her waist tightly, emphasizing her slim waist. It was hard to believe that she was now a mother of twins, given the slimness of her waist and slender figure. Her red hair poured down her back In waves.
Ara looked at the woman with dark green eyes who looked back at her in the mirror. It was astonishing how she still looked the same as she was seven years ago, but she couldn’t remember the last time she’d dolled herself up this way ever since Hamon left her.
She couldn’t help but feel anxious at the thought that Hamon might show up today at the event. Ara took a deep breath and stepped out of the dressing room.
picking up Hamon’s portrait which, Raha had made for her few days ago, she sat on the armchair without taking her eyes of the frame. In the portrait, Hamon looked happy, he was smiling ear to ear as if he’d got everything in the world. She hugged the frame against her chest as she stared at the fireplace which cracked with logs of wood burning brightly, fighting with the fire until it gave up to form into a dark residue ash.
With the sounds of carriages arriving and pulling over in the palace grounds, Ara could tell that she had to go down to greet her guests soon. Though small events were celebrated in the palace for the past seven years, however it was the first time she was holding a grand winter celebration after Hamon had passed away.
Ara slowly ran her slender fingers against Hamon’s portrait as her eyes stung with tears. Life had been unfortunate and unfair right from their previous life in so many different ways which made Ara smile bitterly as she recalled her fate with Hamon.
It felt like only yesterday when Hamon had left her in this world alone, and today she was looking forward to seeing him again after seven years. For all those years, it had been hard, it felt as if a huge hole had been formed in her heart after Hamon had left her side. Even though years had gone by painfully, excruciatingly slow, Ara hadn’t tried to fill up the hole like Hamon wanted her to. She silently carried the pain and emptiness which reminded her of his presence, not wanting to let go of the memories with him. like a book being flipped, seasons had changed one after the another and here was another winter season...
The same season they got sperated.
As Ara was deep in thought while staring at Hamon’s portrait, several knocks on the door interrupted her thoughts. Her two angels, Hara and Raha who came running inside the room to inform her,
"Mother, it’s time. All the guests have arrived in the hall, and they are waiting for you!"
Ara smiled, "Are they." She got up from her bed, keeping the portrait back on her bed, she took each of her children’s hand in hers and went down to greet the guests.
Ara wore her charming smile on her lips as she walked down the stairs with her kids, greeting the guests as she walked across the nobles of crowds in the hall. She occasionally stopped to speak to some of her acquaintances on the way. Music played softly in the background along with chatter and laughter in the hall.
Seeing that her brother, Henry, and also Merek had arrived with their families, Ara excused herself and walked towards them, "What took you this long to get here?" She asked with a smile on her lips.
"Apologise for arriving late, it was Anne who suggested we drop by the Boxton mansion to come along with brother-in-law." Merek replied with one of his arms wrapped protectively around Anne who had a big rounded belly, while he held Maurin in the other arm, with the boys head resting on his shoulder as if he was sleeping.
"Sister, we would have been here earlier if brother Henry hadn’t been wasting time romancing with..." Anne didn’t complete her words as Henry shot her a warning glare, and she beamed, "Relax brother, you shouldn’t glare like that to a married, and a pregnant woman."
Merek shook his head in disbelief at his wife’s teasing words, Anne would never change. He thought. With her pregnancy in the last stage, he couldn’t help but worry more about her. He could still vividly remember what it was like when she was giving birth to Maurin, it had been a total chaos in their mansion. He still had the scar she’d left on his arm with her nails on that day.
"Merek, you should caution your wife more, she should behave more like a woman now that she’s a mother." Henry said to Merek as Anne stuck out her tongue at him.
"My husband doesn’t mind my behavior, so that shouldn’t be your concern brother." Anne murmured as she hugged Merek’s arms and stuck her tongue out again.
"You...!" Henry wanted to snap at her, but Eadlin also pulled his arm and gave him a stern look for him to behave. He laughed awkwardly and returned to his position next to his daughter.
Daphne, who had been quiet the whole time, finally spoke as Eadlin gently touched her head, "Good evening, your majesty." She bowed respectfully to Ara.
Ara smiled at the little girl who looked so much like her brother, "Very good evening to you too, Daphne. I have told you not to be so formal with me anymore, sweetie." Ara reminded her niece with a warm smile.
"I am sorry, your ma...I mean aunt Ara."
"Much better." Ara gently patted her head, bringing a smile to the girls face.
Daphne liked her aunt so much despite all the fights she’d had with Hara. Her blue eyes soon moved to her cousin, who was staring at her blankly, she then said, "Hi, Hara..." She waved her hand, but the little princess replied flatly, "Hi."
Daphne nervously interlocked her fingers as she seemed to struggle to speak to her cousin, "Hara, I’m sorry for always picking a fight with you...will you build a snowman with me outside?"
Hara’s red eyes brightened up, but she quickly composed herself and said, "Promise me you won’t bully me again?"
Daphne raised her hand to seal her promise, "I promise, I will be your best friend from now on."
Hara beamed, revealing her two cute dimples, she then glanced up at her mother, "Is it alright to go outside to build a snowman with Daphne?" She asked.
Ara gave a nod of her head,"Yes, but you can only do that in the courtyard not outside the palace grounds."
"Yay! Let’s go." The girls jumped excitedly as they held hands. Raha also went after them as they ran out of the hall.
The adults only stared at the kids as they left the hall. Ara then gestured for a servant to go after the kids, so they wouldn’t wandered off too far.
Merek and Anne soon excused themselves and went to greet some of their acquaintances in the hall. While Henry, a wife magnet also followed his wife to the food stall in the hall, leaving Ara by herself again.
Ara walked towards the open balcony of the hall. She inhaled deeply and exhale, looking up at the snowflakes fall, she then took a few steps forward on the balcony and stretched her hand for one of the flakes to fall on the palm of her hand.
As the snowflakes melted in her hand, she was about to stretch her arms forward to catch another one when her eyes fell on a fancy looking carriage pulling up not far away from the hall. She didn’t think much about it and was about to look away from the direction, when she noticed a man’s long leg stepped out of the carriage.
Ara felt her eyes widened when the man emerged completely out of the fancy carriage. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized who it was immediately. He wore a black overcoat, and also had sliver hair.
No matter how much time that had passed, Ara could never forget that person.
