Chapter 295: Impossible to destroy

Chapter 295: Impossible to destroy

Hamon left Ara in their chamber sleeping, while he made to his study room after sending someone to get Emma. He paced around the study room impatiently as he waited for the head maid’s arrival. He did not know what Ara was trying to hide from him, but since she wasn’t telling him what it was, he had decided to find it out from Emma since she was the closest person to his wife.

Furthermore, Ara had mentioned Emma In her sleep.

Knock knock

At the sound of the knock, Hamon glanced towards the door and called out, "Come in."

The door pushed open, then Emma and Oliver walked inside the study room. Hamon frowned upon seeing Olivier, he had only sent for the young lady, and not Olivier. So what was this Olivier doing here?

Hamon raised a questioning brow, "I didn’t send for you, Olivier, why did you tag along?"

Olivier laughed awkwardly, he was with Emma when a maid came to report that the king wanted to see her in his study room. And Oliver didn’t know if Emma had done something wrong for Hamon to suddenly send for her, to be safe, he had tagged along with her instead.

"Well, you see, your majesty...I was on my way to report something to you when I saw Emma heading here, so_"

"You are not needed here, you may leave. I’ll send for you when am done speaking to the head maid." Hamon cut him off, he had a lot on his mind to have time to deal with Oliver’s nonsense talks at the moment.

Olivier glanced towards Emma, and she gave him a small nod of her head to assure him that she would be fine. Only then did he bow to Hamon and reluctantly left the study room.

Emma bowed to the waist, "Your Majesty, you sent for me?" She asked politely.

Hamon spoke with an indifferent expression, "Remind me, how long have you been with my wife?" Hamon questioned out of the blue.

"I have worked at the Boxton mansion for a long time, however, I only got close to her majesty much later, but regardless of the amount of time I’ve spent with her, I care for and respect her immensely." Emma replied honestly.

Hamon nodded solemnly, "Good." Hamon said getting up from his seat behind the desk, he strolled over to another side of the room with his back turned mysteriously to Emma. "I have some questions to ask you. And I want nothing but the truth...I know my wife cares about you, and wouldn’t want you to meet any harm but if you dare lie to me..." His red eyes glinted dangerously, even if Emma couldn’t see it since he had his back to her, she could feel the coldness radiating from him, "You won’t live to see the sunrise."

Even though Emma knew the questions he wanted to ask her, as she had already foreseen this moment in her dreams days ago. She couldn’t help but feel nervous and a bit terrified of being in his overwhelming presence, it was the first time she’d ever been alone with Hamon before. She had already mentally prepared for this moment, but yet her heart was beating fast as if it would rip out of her chest.

Emma composed herself, "I dare not lie to you, your majesty. I will say nothing but the truth." She nervously clenched tightly to the side of her dress as she waited for his questions.

"...I have noticed something suspicious about you. Who are you? And what lies have you been feeding my wife about dying?" He asked calmly, but Emma could tell there was a rising volcano beneath that calmness, if she dared to trip, he would surely end her.

She didn’t know how to begin explaining everything to Hamon, it was easy to explain it to Ara, but this man in front of her was a demon who could burn her with a snap of his fingers.

"You better start talking, young lady if you don’t want your head rolling on the floor. I will ask you this one last time... What lies have you been feeding my wife?!" Hamon turned around, his voice turning even more chillingly stern as he felt a flash of irritation stirring within him.

Emma tried not to flinch in the face of his fury, and spoke calmly, "Your majesty, if I tell you the truth, you might not believe me, but I can show you everything if you allow me."

Hamon’s brows snapped together, as he subtly narrowed his eyes, "And how do you plan to show me the truth?" He asked with an irritated expression masking his amusement. He found this maid quite interesting, she was the first servant to stay calm in the face of his rage. She had some guts though! She dared lie to his wife, and now putting up a front?

Hamon didn’t want anybody feeding his wife with some lies that could affect her mentally. And this particular maid, was still alive because she was close to Ara, if not for that reason, he would have gotten rid of her from the palace.

"What do you think you’re doing?!" Hamon rebuked as Emma approached him instead of answering his questions.

"Your majesty, I want to show you the truth, and I can only do that if you give me your hands. Believe me, this is important, and it’s about the stone of Helga...it has been misused and would perish with your wife within a year." She blurted out in one breath, before Hamon could interrupt her.

"What do you mean by it would perish with my wife? How do you know about the stone of Helga?...who are you?" Hamon asked in bemusement.

Emma stretched her hand towards Hamon, "Please give me your hands, your majesty, and you will get all the answers to those questions. I mean no harm."

Hamon didn’t know why, but he felt that he could trust the young lady. There was still suspicion marring his face however he placed his hand on hers, "You have five minutes to prove yourself." He said indifferently.

Emma nodded, "I understand, your majesty. Please close your eyes."

Hamon glared at her suspiciously, before eventually closing his eyes.

Emma’s hazel eyes began to change to pure white. Bluish light glowed from the hand she held Hamon with, it shone so bright as she passed some memories to Hamon.

Hamon’s brows knitted together as he began to see some unknown images flash into his head. He began to put them together, it was a dark underground basement, where a pregnant woman writhed on the floor in pain, the woman seemed to be enduring unbearably torturous pain, the images flashed and he saw how she later gave birth to her child who looked dead, the newborn cold and lifeless in her arms as the woman painfully mourned her infant’s demise, but her mourning only lasted for some time before with determination she used the stone of Helga to bring her dead child back to life.

Throughout, as the memories flashed to his mind he felt recognition wave over him the more he looked at the woman. When Hamon focused and looked closely, he was shocked to find out that the woman was none other than his own mother.

Hamon wanted to snap his eyes open as he watched how much his mother suffered in that basement. And also why and how she made him what he was now. However, the images changed to when Ara was killed by Cornell in their previous and also when she made the wish on the stone.

Everything played in his head until the moment when Emma told Ara about the consequences of the stone of Helga. He was also beyond shocked to find out that...Emma was not just a witch, but his own cousin as well?

Not just that, Ara would perish with the stone in a year! Hamon’s eyes quickly snapped open.

"Have you found another way to destroy the stone?" Hamon asked Emma immediately he opened his eyes. He had seen everything in her memories, he had also seen how Emma was trying to destroy the stone with her powers, but she ended up coughing out a mouth full of blood instead.

Emma glanced down at her feet, "...I am sorry, your majesty, but I have tried everything and also contacted my grandmother about it, but... it’s impossible to destroy."

Hamon’s heart dropped to his stomach on hearing that. They had misused the cursed stone of Helga, and now his wife had to pay for it with her life, just like his mother gave her life for him. Ara would have to do so to restore the balance of the world. How could he let that happen?

Hamon had believed that now that his wife was back to him, nothing could ever separate them again, but it seemed fate wasn’t done playing it’s cruel games on them.

How could he watch his wife perish with the stone? No! He wouldn’t let that happen, if he had to turn the earth upside-down to find someone who could destroy the damn stone, so be it, he would do it before the span of a year!

Hamon glanced towards Emma and asked, "Is there anybody else who has the powers to destroy the stone?"

"Yes..."

Hamon felt a ray of hope at that, but her next words immediately shattered his hope to pieces.

"Only the maker of the stone has the power to destroy it, Helga. And she is no more."

THUD!

Hamon angrily slammed away the books on his desk, then roughly ran his hand through his silver hair in frustration.

"...I am really sorry, your majesty. I tried everything, but I couldn’t destroy it..." Emma apologized with tear filled eyes.

"I know, you’ve tried your best, thank you for your help." He thanked Emma genuinely he had seen how she had kept trying despite throwing up blood. She had done her best. It was left for him to take it from here on. As long as he lived, he wouldn’t let his wife die.

"I can’t let my wife die, I can’t..." He murmured as he covered his face with his palms, despair filled his heart. All of a sudden he just learned that his wife might not live up to a year, the weight of the news shook his heart, but no matter what happened, he couldn’t let his wife die.

Emma glanced towards Hamon, then spoke hesitatingly, "... your majesty, there is another way to save lady Ara from dying..."

Hamon’s head drastically jerked towards Emma, "What other way is that?!"
