Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 267: Curse of a wish

Chapter 267: Curse of a wish

Ara lay in bed with her eyes wide open, she stared at the ceiling dazedly. Her mind filled with countless thoughts, she did not know what to think of all the information she had learned from Emma in the afternoon. She couldn’t believe everything that she’d just discovered.

Just when she thought that after dealing with Cornell, things would be fine, and their lives would become forever peaceful, but unfortunately it seemed she would have to face the curse of a wish...

She had told Emma about how she got to have half of the magic stone in her previous life. And Emma had said that the old woman who gave it to her was none other than Helga herself. She had given it to her because of the kindness Ara showed her. Everything was just too complicated to digest. Wasn’t it said that Helga was dead, then how come she gave the stone to her in their previous life?

Nevertheless, Emma had said that if Ara hadn’t died in their previous life and only made the wish to turn back time, there wouldn’t have been much of a problem even after Hamon made the wish to bring her back to life again that night she died in this lifetime, because he also had some part of the magic stone’s powers in him.

However, now that she had messed with mother nature by turning back time with the magic stone, and also tricked death twice...She would have to pay the price, the stone’s powers were slowly dying, it wouldn’t grant anymore wishes to anyone again since it had began to turn completely dark. Which was the reason for her chest pains even though the arrow wounds were fully healed and closed up. And the moment the stone turned completely dark...

’...it either it takes my life, or the world loses it balance...’

Emma had said it wouldn’t completely lose it’s powers so soon, it might take up to a year before it completely darkened. However, was she supposed to be happy to know she might only have a year to live now?

Ara subconsciously placed her hand on her abdomen again, "Does this mean I won’t get to raise my child myself?" She felt her throat tightened at the thought of dying and leaving the people she loved behind. Just like how Margaret had sacrificed herself, she would have to do the same in a year?

And Hamon...how was she going to leave her child and her husband? And also her beloved family, she would lose them again if the world loses its balance, everything would be in vain...It really seemed like no powers can change the cause of time. And fate was really playing a wicked joke on them.

Even though Emma had assured her not to worry, and also promised to find a way to fix it before the time comes. She still couldn’t help but worry. What if Emma never found a way to destroy the stone before a year? Does that really mean she would die with the stone to keep the wish permanent?

Tears filled Ara’s eyes, blurring her vision, she blinked it away and it rolled down her cheeks and absorbed into the pillow. Her heart felt too heavy she couldn’t bring herself to even eat dinner, and only remained laying down on the bed.

Ara had told Emma that she wanted to be alone for awhile, and it been almost two hours she still couldn’t digest all the information. It felt like some kind of a nightmare, just this morning she was happy to learn about her pregnancy, but now, everything had shattered into pieces...

If she had known this earlier, she wouldn’t have let herself love Hamon this deeply, or even let him get too attached to her, not to mention getting pregnant. If she happened to die in a year, he would be lonely, and would have to raise their child alone.

Ara cried silently as she curled up in bed like a ball. Her lips trembled as the sobs slipped out, she tried to stop the tears but it kept pouring out uncontrollably.

As Ara continued to cry, far away on a desolated road, where the royal carriages were seen moving with royal guards through the forest roads. Inside the carriage, was Hamon, who clutched his chest tightly as he suddenly felt a small ache.

Oliver, whose horse was moving beside the carriage noticed Hamon’s strange expression and his hand on his chest, he slightly leaned beside the carriage window to ask, "Your majesty, are you alright?"

Hamon slowly nodded his head as he sat back straight on the seat, "...Yes, I’m alright. I just feel a bit uneasy." He murmured with his thick brows deeply drawn together in a frown. Why was he suddenly feeling restless? He felt the urge to turn back and return to the palace for some unknown reasons.

"Should we make a stop at some inn for the night then?" Oliver asked as he noticed Hamon didn’t seem to look alright. However, the king shook his head, "No, there’s no need to make a stop, it would be best to continue moving, we can’t afford to waste time resting." He remarked firmly.

"But, Your majesty it isn’t safe to continue our journey late into the night, what if we get ambushed by the night bandits?"

"Are you scared of some mere night bandits?" He deadpanned calmly, "What could possibly go wrong with soldiers trailing behind us. There shall not be any stops until we reach our destination."

Hamon could not wait to reach Bredon to get on with his meeting with the king. The earlier they arrived there, the faster he’d get it over with and return to his wife at home. They hadn’t even reached half of their journey, not to mention reaching Bredon. However, he was already missing his wife. And for some reasons his mind kept wandering back to her, and it was making him feel quite uneasy.
