Emma inhaled deeply, "...my lady, I am a witch, and also the niece of his majesty’s birth mother, Margaret."

Ara’s eyes widened, she was stunned beyond words. How was that possible? How could Emma be a witch, not just that...She was related to Hamon’s mother?

"...She made a wish for Hamon to be born a demon?" Ara asked in disbelief, then what was with the human sacrifice if she wasn’t a witch?

Emma began to narrate the whole story to Ara, she told her how Margaret moved to Findara and started working in the palace, and also how she fell in love with Frederick at first sight. And because of Margaret’s rare beauty, Frederick had taken an interest in her instantly. He treated her differently from the rest of the servants, she became his personal servant, who prepared his bath everyday, helped him into his attire.

And with that, they became so close, almost like lovers, however, it was a one sided love. Margaret was aware that the king did not love her, but yet she was ready to do anything for him. And one night, Frederick was drunk and she was supposed to attend to him, however they ended up sharing a passionate night together the day before his wedding with the princess of Dumbarton. And that was how she had conceived the crown Prince.

Ara listened to the story quietly. Emma also told her about how Margaret was poisoned by the queen, after Merona learned about her pregnancy.

"...But how did she survive in the basement for months then?" Ara asked curiously as Emma told her about how Frederick had agreed to lock Margaret up in the basement. She couldn’t imagine what the woman must have gone through being locked up while she was poisoned and also pregnant at the same time. Merona was really heartless...

"Aunt Margaret was supposed to die with her child, but then she used the witches tricks to survive in those months in the basement, she suppressed the poison. She might not possess the witches powers, but she still had the witche blood in her." She explained, "Before aunt Margaret left Greenwood, she had one half of the magic stone with her, she took it from my grandma, with the intentions of making the king fall in love with her...However, she never used it on the late king, and so it came to use when she was in the basement."

"Stone of Helga might be a magical stone, however, it had originated from black magic. And anything made from black magic...never fulfills a purpose for free, black magic works by strict principles of give and take, it would give something priceless for another equally priceless thing. It also doesn’t work on the same person twice, regardless of who made the wish. And most importantly, it doesn’t grant a life without taking another life in return."

Ara’s eyebrows furrowed deeply, "...what do you mean?" She asked slightly bewildered.

Emma continued, "Aunt Margaret’s child had died in her womb from the toxic poison years ago."

"...?!" Hamon died? All this was really beginning to make her head spin.

"Aunt Margaret had tried to suppress the poison, however the child couldn’t withstand it’s effects. She lost him, but then she refused to accept it, due to her anger coupled with grief...that was when she made the wish on the stone, she brought her son back to life and made him a demon. And due to her grief, she unleashed her witch powers in the basement, she used the stone and her powers to bring him back."

"However, she knew the aftermath of the stone, it was either she gave her life or it takes back her son’s life. Aunt Margaret tapped into the black magic, and made a deal with the black powers. And the black magic always deals with a human sacrifice to stabilize it’s powers. Furthermore, since she used the stone of Helga, She gave her life in return to make her son’s life longer...But then, she could only live for no more than seven years."

"...Do you mean to say the queen wasn’t the one to kill Margaret?"

"No, aunt Margaret knew that she would die after seven years, thus after seven years she decided to leave the palace to not cause her son the grief of seeing her die. However, even before she died from the curse of the stone, the queen had sent someone to kill her."

"..." Ara didn’t know what to think of all this information. Hamon was part of the magic stone. And also his mother had given her life to make his longer.

Emma didn’t speak again, and let Ara digest the information. However, her eyes fell on the dark red stone on the ring again. She frowned deeply,

"My lady, Did you perhaps make a wish on the stone? It looks too dark, as if you’ve made some kind of a big wish..."

Ara was taken aback for a moment, then glanced down at the jewelry in her hands. Realization began to dawn on her. Emma had said... it gave a life for another life in return, but the stone had brought her back to life twice. Could it be...

"Yes, I made a wish on the stone..."

Emma’s heart skipped a beat, "What did you wish for, my lady?"

Ara contemplated whether to tell Emma about living another lifetime before. However, it would be best to tell her as she wasn’t sure what it could cause.

Ara took a deep breath and began to tell her own story. She told Emma of how she’d lived another lifetime before, and how her family were destroyed by Cornell, and also how she died from his hands, to when she made the wish unknowingly.

Emma just quietly listened, her expression was unreadable the entire time. Ara also told her of how she had died and was brought back to life by Hamon. And finally, Emma reacted, but her reaction wasn’t something good at all.

"...my lady..." She called with her eyes widened in shock or was it disbelief.

Emma’s reaction only made Ara even more anxious. Just what had they done?
