Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 265: You are pregnant!
Chapter 265: You are pregnant!
Ara’s stomach growled loudly again, and she placed her hand on her abdomen. "I am really hungry." She murmured to herself. At this point if she did not eat she might pass out before Emma returned with the physician. She contemplated for a second, and decided to go and get herself something to eat.
Ara went to the kitchen, all the servants were taken aback as she went straight on and selected some snacks, the snacks filled the plate in her hand, but she was too hungry to even care about all the eyes on her as she munched on the snacks before even leaving the kitchen.
"Carry on with your work." She said nonchalantly to the shocked servants then walked out of the kitchen.
Ara returned to her chamber, and still yet Emma wasn’t back with the physician. Thus, she clicked her tongue in annoyance as she continued to munch on the snacks while nervously waiting for the physician to come. She soon emptied the plate of various snacks she’d mixed together in the kitchen and restlessly sat on the bed.
"Where are they?" She murmured impatiently, she couldn’t wait to know what was wrong with her. And fortunately, Emma soon returned with the physician following behind her.
Ara explained to the physician her symptoms, and he checked her pulse, then beamed, "Congratulations, your majesty, you are pregnant!"
"...I am really pregnant?" She asked in disbelief and the middle-aged physician nodded his head, "Yes, you are."
Emma happily clapped her hands, "Congratulations, my lady!"She exclaimed as she ran to hold Ara’s hand.
However, Ara just stared dazedly. She had suspected her nausea to be due to pregnancy after Emma pointed it out awhile ago, but she was still shocked to confirm it from the physician. She subconsciously placed a hand on her flat stomach,
’...am I really carrying a child in me?’
She couldn’t explain her emotions at the moment. It was strange, she did not know if it was happiness or anxiety, it felt too complicated to define.
Although, she could feel the thrill of joy stirred in her at the physician’s confirmation. There would be a part of Hamon inside her, nothing made her more happier than the thought of carrying the child of the man she loved, her husband.
"This good news should be shared with the officials immediately!" The physician’s enthusiastic remarks soon snapped Ara out of her dazed state, and she hurriedly waved her hands, "Huh, please don’t tell anyone about this yet, my husband has to know about it first...After his majesty returns from Bredon, the news will be formally announced to the officials."
"Oh, Yes, of course. I have forgotten his majesty is not present at the moment, I wasn’t thinking. I won’t tell anybody yet." He bowed.
Ara stared at the jovial physician and also Emma, she then said to the both of them, "please keep my pregnancy a secret, not even any of the servants should know about it until his majesty returns."
Emma hurried to assure her, "My lady, you needn’t worry, nobody will hear of this." She made a gesture of zipping her lips.
The physician also nodded in agreement, "Yes, your majesty. Once I go back, I will prepare some healthy herbs that will help you with the morning sickness."
"Thank you." She thanked the physician, he then bowed, "It is my job, your majesty. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave. You should rest more, and don’t work yourself out too much."
Ara nodded in acknowledgement, then he bowed again and left. As soon as the physician left the room, Emma sat down beside Ara on the bed, "You know what, my lady...last night I had a dream that you gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl! But look, I think my dream will come true soon!" Emma exclaimed enthusiastically.
"...twins? Really..." Ara glanced down with flushed cheeks. Giving birth to twins would mean having two children at once. She smiled, it was just Emma’s dream anyway. She wondered if Hamon would be as happy as Emma was at the moment. They’d be having a child...
Although, Hamon never said he didn’t want a child, but she could tell he was afraid of letting her carry his child, because he wouldn’t want her giving birth to a little demon like him. There was a night she talked to him about having a child, and she could still vividly recall his reply,
_’I don’t mind never having a child, it would only cause you trouble carrying it and also that damn blood sacrifice. And besides, we still have enough time, let’s not talk about having a child yet, my lovely wife.’
’...I wonder if he would be happy to know that am pregnant now...’ she thought to herself. She would really love to have a child who looked like her husband, those red eyes, silver hair, it would have been wonderful. However, the problem was, if her child happened to inherit Hamon’s powers, they would have to perform the sacrifice and also feed human blood to the child at the age of seven, and without doing that...
’Why would Margaret do such a thing to Hamon in the first place?’
Ara had been curious to know how Hamon’s mother had made her son the way he was now. She knew rumors had it that the woman was a witch, but then what made her do it knowing it would forever pass down to her son’s offsprings. Ara knew Margaret must have done it to protect Hamon, but why the human sacrifice?
She had wanted to know more about Margaret from the late king, So they could avoid making any sacrifices in the future, but unfortunately, Frederick was killed before she could even get her answers.
Ara sighed heavily. She raised her hand to cover her mouth as a yawn slipped her mouth.
"My lady, I think you should sleep some more. You look tired."
"I want to take a walk in the garden, I’ve been sleeping too much lately. But first, help me out of this dress, it is so uncomfortable. I want to wear something comfortable today. Come with me to the dressing room." Ara pulled Emma along with her to the dressing room.
And Emma began to look through Ara’s wardrobe for a comfortable dress without a corset. She found one and took it out, however as she turned the dress around, it hit a brown box sitting on the cabinet. The box fell to the ground and it opened, the things inside fell out.
Emma quickly crouched down to pick it up, "Oh, I am sorry, my lady I didn’t_" she stopped dead in her tracks as her eyes fell on the jewel sitting on the floor, which had fallen from the box.
’How is this possible...stone of Helga?’
With a dumbstruck expression, Emma slowly picked up the necklace and the ring, which had both halves of the magic stone. Her face suddenly turned pale as she saw how dark the stone was.
Ara noticed the necklace and ring in Emma’s hand, and without wasting time, she swiftly took it from her hands, "...you shouldn’t touch this."
With a dumbfounded expression, Emma pointed at the jewel, "...my lady...where did you get that from?"
"...?" Ara looked at Emma questioningly. Could it be that Emma also knew about the stone of Helga?
Instead of answering, Ara asked her own question instead, "Do you know about these stones?" She asked cautiously. She couldn’t risk telling anyone about the magic the stones contained, Hamon had warned her not to let anybody know of it. Which was why she hadn’t been wearing any of the jewelry. If it gets in the wrong hands, it might bring destruction to the world.
Emma nodded her head at Ara’s question, "...Yes, it’s a magical stone." She murmured softly. All this while, she had thought it was just her dreams and that her mistress doesn’t have the stone in her possession, but... she happened to possess the two halves, and they had turned completely dark red, to the extent that it didn’t change color even when Emma held it in her hands.
This only meant one thing; ’...She has made a big wish on the stones, a wish that wouldn’t last forever...’
Ara’s eyes widened at Emma’s words, "How do you know about the magic stone?" She asked slightly shocked to hear that Emma also knew about the magic stone.
Emma hesitated for a moment before she finally opened her mouth to speak, "My lady, there is something you should know..."
"What is that?" She urged as Emma looked hesitant to continue.
Instead of speaking, Emma pulled out a stool from under the mirror table, and then placed it behind Ara, "You should sit first, my lady."
Ara, who was already impatient sat down without a word of protest, as she was curious to hear what Emma wanted to say.
Emma inhaled deeply, "...my lady, I...I am a witch, and also the niece of his majesty’s birth mother, Margaret."
