Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 256: The queen shall die tonight!

Chapter 256: The queen shall die tonight!

As soon as Hamon’s men broke down the gate locks, Ara hurriedly walked inside and saw Merek approaching her, "Merek send more men to support the soldiers wearing the same clothes as mine!"

Merek, who was yet to reach her stopped in his tracks, "Ah, yes, your highness." He immediately turned towards the rest of the soldiers on the parapet walls and yelled, "You heard her highness! Support the soldiers in black uniforms."

"Aye!" At Merek’s words, Hamon’s soldiers took their bows and arrows, they stood in orders behind the parapet walls and began to shoot down arrows to protect the soldiers in black who came with the crown Princess.

Soon, they took down almost all the queen’s men, at least all the soldiers who came with Ara were saved and able to make it to the crown Prince’s residence unharmed without a single one losing their lives.

Oliver, who still looked shocked, slowly descended from the wall. He stared at Ara as he approached. Why does it seem like he’d seen her in disguise before? Her figure in military uniform looked somewhat familiar to him. Oliver suddenly halted as realization began to dawn on him.

’No way! She couldn’t be the one...’

She couldn’t be the new guy the crown Prince had threatened to replace him with countless times. Could she?

Oliver stammered as he tried to ask Ara, "Y-your highness...were you the soldier the crown Prince..."

Ara understood what he meant, she then spoke for all to hear instead, " Yes, I was the one disguised as a soldier that night when Merek was missing, who most of you knew as the new guy."

"...!" Most of them had never met the new guy, but heard about it from their subordinates. However, Oliver and Merek, including Den had met her when She was disguised that night. To make matters worse, Oliver had gone as far as to be openly hostile towards the new guy. His expression immediately paled, and he looked away in embarrassment.

Ara had already decided not to hide her fighting skills anymore, it was time for a change in Findara. Women should be allowed to wield any weapon if they so desired. And once she becomes queen, she’d make that happen. But right now, they needed to finish with this battle first.

Ara continued with a booming voice, "Everyone, we must assist the crown Prince immediately! He is currently fighting a battle outside the palace walls, we need to take over from the inside so we can open the gates!"

"What? His highness is fighting a battle?" Merek wasn’t the only one surprised at the unexpected news. Everyone one exchanged astonished glances.

Seeing their surprised expressions, Ara explained, "King Frederick is no more, he passed away a week ago, and the queen is in control of the palace. She almost succeeded in her plans of killing his highness and I. We have managed to gather some troops, and they are outside the palace gates with the crown Prince trying to break through. We must open the gates for them from the inside!"

It was a brief explanation, but enough to give them a grasp of their current situation. With determined looks in their eyes, all the soldiers bowed in unison, "Aye, your highness!"

"Everyone take position! Grab your weapons!" Merek yelled to the rest, and they began to take their weapons immediately. It was time they assisted their Prince.

Meanwhile, outside the palace, Hamon and his troops hadn’t yet broken through the gates of the palace. The palace was designed to withstand a long siege. Furthermore, the queen’s army were too many, and despite Hamon and Henry’s impressive army, it was still insufficient to defend the thousand strong army situated outside.

Hamon’s steel swords pierced through the flesh of the enemy soldiers, they gurgled blood and collapsed dead to the ground. His face was covered in the blood of his opponents.

Henry, who had been fighting at the other side of the entrance, managed to fight his way to Hamon’s side. "It won’t be as easy as we’ve planned to get through those gates with this much soldiers blocking our way." Henry said as he continued to cut down the soldiers in front of him.

"I thought so too. These soldiers are so persistent in blocking the gates." Hamon said through clenched teeth as the soldiers kept coming at them like ants.

"Your Highness, how are we sure my sister made it inside safely, she’s taking too much time. There is no sign of her nor your soldiers...What if something has happened to her inside while we’re here?!" Henry spoke this time with worry laced in his voice. Ara was supposed to release the crown Prince’s soldiers, and fight from the inside to open the gates for them to enter, but then there was no sign of anybody fighting from the inside, and his sister wasn’t here yet as planned.

Despite Henry’s worries, Hamon calmly turned towards the closed gates, then spoke to Henry in a steady voice, "...give her more time, my wife is moving."

"How are you so sure, your highness? What if she’s hurt or worse?"

Henry couldn’t understand how the crown Prince could be this calm when his wife might be in danger or even hurt. However, Hamon had no intentions of explaining and instead continued to swing his swords at the enemy.

’My wife, you must not get hurt.’

Hamon had faith in his wife’s ability to fight, and knew she could easily get through, she was his warrior woman after all, however, he couldn’t help the anxiety creeping up on him as she was taking long to open the gates as they’d planned. What if Henry was right and his wife was hurt? What if she didn’t make it inside?

As those thoughts crossed his mind, Hamon’s face darkened like a stormy weather, his red eyes blazed, ’if anyone dares to lay a hand on my wife...hell shall come lose tonight!’

Ara had died from the ambush set by Merona in this lifetime, and also died at the hands of Cornell in their previous lifetime; and all the while the magic stone had been the one to bring her back to life, which was a miracle that it worked on her twice. He couldn’t afford to lose her again. He had sworn an oath to make all those who made his wife suffer die a miserable death after he took the throne.

First, he would gladly make sure Ara killed his uncle with her own hands, while he took care of that damned queen. He would certainly repay the debt and infinite upon Merona and Cornell a hundred times more than his wife and his mother had suffered.

’My wife has to be unharmed and safe, she has to be, or else...’

The more blood Ara lost the colder his heart would be. And if she died again...Findara would have to repent for making him king. Purple veins began to appear on his neck and forearms. ’Ara hurry, come back to me!’

Ara had to come back to him safe to keep his brutal nature asleep and hidden from the rest of the world. He couldn’t afford to transform in the eyes of the world now, and the more he worried about her, the more his demon wanted to surface and destroy every single one of the people around him.

Hamon tried to suppress his demon as he fought. The battle continued to roar fiercely outside the palace walls. Just when Hamon thought he couldn’t take it anymore, there was a loud noise and to everyone else’s surprise, the palace gates slowly began to open one by one.

As the last gate opened with a cloud of dust stirring up from the ground, a figure emerged from the dust. Her red hair swayed with the wind, her sword edge dripping with blood, followed by her contrasting dark clothes, and a pale face beautiful enough to stop people in their tracks.

Ara walked out the gates like a battle goodness. And on both her sides, were Oliver and Merek, and behind them they led more soldiers. The crown Prince’s soldiers had arrived, and opening the gates only meant Hamon’s victory.

"Rooar!" Hamon’s soldiers roared as they rushed forward and began to take down the queen’s men. As the battle was going on, Hamon’s eyes were on his wife Who was approaching him. He walked to meet her halfway, and immediately drew her into his embrace, "You scared the devil out of me, My wife. What took you so long to return?" He asked as he pushed back from the hug to examine her body for any injuries, but there was none, and he sighed in relief.

Ara assured him, "I am fine, nothing happened to me, I took long because we had to fight some of the soldiers inside as well. What about you, are you hurt?" She asked in return as she saw his bloody clothes.

Hamon grinned, "Not even a scratch, My wife." He cupped her cheeks, then pressed his lips on hers lightly, "You did well today, My wife. And I am proud of you. Now let’s kick some more ass."

Ara beamed, "Aye, commander."

And so, the couple stood side by side with swords dripping red liquids. Anybody who saw them couldn’t help but think the two were a match for each other. They looked incredible together, their movements were almost the same. Even Henry couldn’t hide the smile that graced his lips watching his sister and her husband. He would have so much loved to see their father’s reaction, knowing that the crown Prince had taught his daughter how to wield a sword and fight like a soldier.

Henry’s smile slowly fell as he recalled his words with Hamon before they arrived here. The crown Prince had told him,

’Brother-in-law, I need you to do me a favour.’

’What kind of favour, your highness?’ Henry had curiously asked.

’Once we have the chance to get into the palace gates...I want you to get my half-sister to safety, I don’t want her witnessing this. I have a score to settle with her mother once we invade the palace.’ Hamon had told him. And Henry didn’t need to ask to know that the crown Prince planned to kill the queen tonight. Henry would have refused if it was anyone else, but then he recalled the princess had even lost an arm saving him at the tournament.

Not just that, he hadn’t been in peace after learning that the princess’ arm would never recover as it was a permanent paralysis, and to make matters worst, her own mother had locked her up in her room all this while. Thus, when the crown Prince had tasked him with this, he didn’t hesitate to agree to take care of her and take her away from here once they got in.

Henry turned towards Hamon, and as if sensing his gaze, the Prince also turned to him, and gave him a nod of his head, which meant he could go ahead. With that signal, Henry moved towards the gates and soon disappeared from sight.

Hamon stared towards the gates, then commanded his soldiers, "Move inside!" It was time to end this game and take back his rightful position.

The queen shall die tonight!
