Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 198: The visitor

Chapter 198: The visitor

The couple sat in the study. Hamon told Ara about everything. From what he could do with his ability after transforming. He also told her about the pain that comes with it at first, but now he could easily transform without any pain if the moon was visible. He would only feel the agonizing pain when the moon was not in sight.

He told her about his teleporting abilities, which she’d witnessed him do twice before their marriage, and how he’d killed all the assassins who attacked them that night. He could heal as well! She found it thrilling to possess such abilities.

After hearing all his explanation, Ara found his abilities not to be so bad after all. If he was born an ordinary child, he might have died by now with all the things he’d gone through. It was strange to think that the powers he despised so much had protected him through out his life. However, even he had no idea what else he could do or how far his abilities could go.

After he told her everything that afternoon, Hamon had immediately escorted Ara back to their chamber and called a physician to check her wounds. He didn’t stay in their chamber for long and immediately left saying he had something urgent to attend to. He left her with the physician in the room.

However, Ara’s mind couldn’t help but wander back to what the king had said about a human sacrifice. They’d have to kill a human and feed the blood to them? Was there no other way to avoid doing such a sinful thing? Thinking about killing a living being for her own children or child sent shivers down her spine.

Although, she wasn’t ready to have children yet, and hearing this now was making her think twice before having a child. Moreover, she was curious about why Margaret would do such thing. Did she do it for his sake?

"Your Highness?" The physician’s voice who had been examining her wounds broke Ara from her thoughts. She glanced at him questioningly, he then spoke, "Your wounds were healing fast before, but now I noticed it opening up again. It must be because you’ve moved yourself around too much. You have to let your wounds heal properly before you can start to move like that."

"Oh..."

"You need to stabilize your body by not moving around too often, Your Highness."

Ara nodded, "I will try my best to not move too much."

"Very well then." The physician continued to apply the ointment before changing the bandage around her upper chest. After he was done, Ara wore her night dress and was about to lay down on the bed to rest, when Emma came to inform her,

"My lady, you have a visitor."

Ara’s forehead wrinkled slightly, "A visitor, who is it?" She wasn’t expecting anybody to visit her.

"He said, he is Alexander from the Felstead household..."

"...!" Ara’s green eyes widened at the unexpected visitor. Out of all the families in Findara that could support Hamon, Felstead were the most favorable. And Alexander was a promising man that was said to be the next grand general of Findara. She recalled he had promised to pay them a visit at the wedding banquet, but she’d thought he’d said that to get under Hamon’s skin, however it turned out he was serious.

Ara hurriedly got out of bed, "I’ll get ready right away to meet him."

Emma looked on in disapproval, "My lady, His Highness had instructed to not let you move around too much, he wasn’t happy knowing you went to the king’s residence earlier_"

Ara ignored Emma’s complaints and instead pulled her into the dressing room with her, "Help me dress up again."

As soon as Ara was done dressing up with the help of Emma, she made straight to the parlour room where Alexander was waiting. She’d been looking forward to meeting him again actually. However, she knew if Hamon were around, he wouldn’t entertain Alexander and would instead throw him out with the excuse of her health. But she was glad he wasn’t around, no matter how much her wounds stung, she was determined to make sure to convince Alexander to bring the Felsteads to Hamon’s side.

With the grand general supporting Hamon, nothing could stop him from taking the throne.

When Ara arrived in front of the parlour room, a maid waiting outside pulled the door open for her.

Alexander, who had been sitting causally on the couch with his long slender legs crossed, turned towards the door hearing it open, his deep blue eyes brightened up. He looked as handsome as the last time she saw him. He wore a brown suit that rested perfectly on his solid figure, with his neck length blonde hair smoothly swept back. A tender smile graced his thin lips seeing her enter, he then stood up to slightly bow his head in respect, "Your Highness."

Ara also smiled, "Alex, it’s good to finally meet you again. How have you been?"

"It good to finally meet you again, too. I’ve been doing alright, you know, the usual training."

Ara nodded thoughtfully, she then gestured for him to seat, "Please, take your sit."

"Thank you." Alexander sat down on the couch he’d been causally sitting on earlier, but this time he sat elegantly straight. His demeanor was calm and relaxed compared to his father, Thomas, who always had a stern and strict self-control. Alex had a welcoming aura about him, which Ara liked about the man. She quietly studied him for more than she should, she then heard him chuckled softly,

"Your Highness, I am aware of my overall handsome looks, but I wouldn’t want your husband coming after my head when he finds out his wife fancies me." He joked.

"...!"

Ara understood he’d caught her staring at him more than she should, she quickly looked away with an awkward laugh. Alex, was indeed a handsome young man with an impressive pedigree, and had a charming personality that would make any woman fall head over heels for him, but Ara was only admiring his calm demeanor. She already had a handsome husband who could put the gods to shame, and was more than content with him, besides, if she were to compare both men, then Alex’s looks would completely fade in the presence of Hamon.

A smile spread on Alex’s face as he spoke calmly, "Thank you for welcoming me despite my sudden visit. I will be departing to Zari the day after tomorrow, and I have some things scheduled for tomorrow, so I decided to visit today before I leave, since I’d promised to pay you a visit. I hope I didn’t impose on you?"

Ara waved her hand, "Not at all. I have been expecting you to come at anytime." She fondly remarked, then asked, "So, Are you also going to Zari for the grand general’s training?"

"Yes. Though I don’t think I’d need all that training anymore as my skills are quite sufficient as It is, but general Thomas insisted I go for it, just like he did during his time." He addressed his father simply by his title as he nonchalantly sipped from his tea.

"So will you be gone for long?"

He dropped the tea cup, "No, it’s actually just for several months."

"..." A few months was no short period of time. Ara suspected that Cornell would begin his rebellion soon if her memories served her right. Now that Hamon was in Findara today, however it was still unclear how the new events would turn out to be in this lifetime. And there could be a possibility where the Felstead’s may side with Cornell or the queen in the future.

As Ara mulled over her thoughts, Alex quietly studied her pale complexion, then spoke, "I see it’s true that you were attacked with the crown Prince on the night of the lanterns festival...seeing how pale you look right now, you must have gotten badly hurt. I hope it isn’t severe though?" He asked concerned.

It wasn’t untrue that the Felstead had vast intelligence and connections around the kingdom. However, what caught Ara’s attention the most was the concern in his expression and tone.

She smiled, "Oh, You’ve heard about the attack. It was nothing serious."

"Is that so? But I heard the arrows caused quite severe injuries on you."

"...?" Ara was caught by surprise this time, but she tried to remain outwardly calm. How on earth did he know she was struck by arrows? Hamon had told her he’d kept everything about her arrow injuries strictly secret. So how did Alex know?

Some of the elites in Findara knew only about the attempted assassination, but not about her injuries. The Felstead’s connections was really this much? Was this why he came today?

Sensing Ara’s wary gaze, Alex hurriedly clasped his hands and spoke in an apologetic voice, "Please, don’t misunderstand. I just happened to hear about it from my father. So, that was one of the main reasons I came to check on you myself."

Ara answered with an, "Oh I see. Thanks for your concern..."

"You should be more carefully next time. I will be honest with you, personally, I like you and I wouldn’t want you getting hurt." He admitted with a serious face.

Ara immediately cast him an incredulous look, and he hurriedly corrected his words, "Oh no, not in that way. Don’t get me wrong, I mean I like you as a friend not as a woman." He awkwardly grinned then sipped from his tea to cover his flushed face.

"Then if you like me, why not support my husband to get the throne?"
