Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 197: The truth behind the death

Chapter 197: The truth behind the death

"That doesn’t matter now, for how long were you intending to keep all this away from me, Hamon?"

Hamon stared at her in a dazed. He hadn’t intended to hide all that from her. He’d hoped a day wouldn’t come when he’d have to tell her the ugly truth about himself. No woman would want to stay with him knowing all those terrifying things. Moreover, if he couldn’t accept that part of him wholly, Why would someone else accept him for the monster his mother had made him?

And it was easy to guess where she’d heard it from. His father, who Ara happened to return from a meeting with.

Hamon knew why Fredrick told her all this. Everybody in the royal family were repulsed of him for being a monster, but the king hadn’t. For the reasons; it was an advantage to Findara in battles. Hamon was able to defeat thousands of enemies in war because of his powers, and all the other kingdoms feared and respected Findara because of the strong powers he possessed. Moreover, he was well aware that the old man would so much like such strong bloodline to pass down to Hamon’s offspring.

Hamon glanced down at Ara with darkly hooded eyes, "Wife, let’s go to my study first."

Ara nodded and let him lead her to his study. The pair made to the study in silence. They could feel each others feelings without having to exchange any words. Ara had a lot of questions and it seemed like Hamon wouldn’t be happy to answer any of them.

They finally arrived at the crown Prince’s all brown study room. And Hamon drew his chair from under the desk for her to sit, "You’ve pushed yourself too hard today, here sit down."

"Thank you." She said with a faint smile and sat down.

"Would you like me to get you something to drink?"

Ara shook her head, "No, am fine." No matter how thirsty she was at the moment, she wasn’t in the mood to wait for him to get her something to drink.

Hamon sensed her state of mind and simply sat down on his desk instead, "So, What would you want to know first?"

She lifted her hand with the ring he’d given her, "About the stone on this ring...This one is the half to the one I had on my necklace. And both turned dark red already in my hand...I don’t remember ever making any wish on it."

Hamon brows furrowed, "Are you sure? Think again." He had been certain she was the one to make a wish to turn back the time, but now...

Ara thought through everything again, but she still didn’t recall making any sort of wish on the stone. "I don’t remember..." She murmured softly, then asked curiously, "What about you? Have you made any wishes on the stone?"

"Yes." He knew it was best to come clean about everything, "When you got struck by those arrows...you died, the physicians couldn’t bring you back and I had no other choice, so I made my wish instead."

"So that means..." A thought suddenly struck her mind. She couldn’t have survived such poisonous arrows. Realization slowly dawned on her, and her green eyes widened in disbelief. She’d thought the heavens granted her a second chance in life, but it turned out she died and it was Hamon who brought her back with his wish!

He could have made a wish for himself, but instead...

Hamon continued to speak, "I made a wish for you to come back to life, but if i had known the wish wouldn’t heal the wounds all together, I would have been more specific with my words when I made the wish..." He continued to voice his concerns and complaints, but Ara didn’t even hear it. There was something else in her mind,

"Why? You could have wished for anything else, but you chose to save my life with your one wish?"

Hamon smiled, "What else should I have chosen to wish for when you are the most important person in my life? I don’t regret making such a wish, and I would never."

"Hamon..." She felt her throat clenched tightly at the knowledge that he loved her to the extent of using his one single wish on her. "Hamon...you-you are quite stupid! You could have wished for something better, you_" her breath hitched and she stopped speaking and just stared at him.

"Wife, What else could I possibly have wished for? You, are everything to me."

Her eyes burned with tears, but it didn’t fall and only made her vision burly, she wiped it off with the back of her hand, "Stupid..." her voice was thick with tears as well. She had no idea about this until now, and it would have been unfair if she had gone on not knowing how much he cared for her.

At this moment, Ara’s head spun from all the information she’d learned today. However, the most important thing was that she loved him and he did love her beyond her wildest imagination.

Hamon glanced at Ara’s flushed face with a tensed expression, "Wife, I know you have more questions you want to ask me, shoot them out."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you haven’t asked me about my curse; about how I turned into a monster, and how much powers I possess..." His voice grew low and deeper, "What if we had children and they turned out like me, doesn’t that worry you? Or even sicken you to the very core?"

Of course, it worried her. She wondered weather the physical changes to the body were dangerous or even painful, and she also wondered what were they going to do if their future kids turned out like that, and whether there was a way to avoid the human sacrifice the king had mentioned. Those were her greatest worries.

But first, she wanted to say something to Hamon who still seemed to bear shadows of hurt in his eyes, "Hamon, stop calling yourself a monster, you are my husband."

"...!" Both relief and disbelief played on Hamon’s face. He’d thought she’d be repulsed of him knowing the kind of thing he was, but it seemed...

Ara noticed his expression, and repeated, "You are not a monster, Hamon. And it wasn’t your fault that you turned out to be_"

His expression twisted in disgust and bitter, "You have no idea what I had to go through as a child with such monstrous powers controlling me. Do you want me to tell you about my first time drinking human blood? Or how horrible it was to instinctively enjoy the taste? Oh, maybe how I almost burned the people in the palace alive when they didn’t feed me blood?" He laughed darkly, "Tell me what I am then? What should I think of myself if not a bloody monster!" He disparaged himself.

Ara stood up with a deep frown, she moved closer and stood between his legs, then cupped his face and turned his head to look into her eyes, "Hamon, Do you want me to call you a monster then?"

"...!" When the word "monster" came from Ara’s mouth, his expression turned even more pained. She gently caressed his cheek with her thumb and continued, "You are not a monster. Stop being delusional. I don’t care if you’re a demon, monster, or even the devil himself, the fact that you’re my husband still remains the same, and I will love you regardless of what you are or what you think of yourself. I accept you for who you are, Hamon."

Hamon looked stunned hearing hear words. However, Ara meant every word she spoke, it was from the bottom of her heart. She knew he had an inclination to think poorly of himself, but right from the beginning even before she knew he wasn’t completely human, she had sworn to walk any bloody path just to keep her family alive. Thus, whether Hamon was human or not didn’t matter to her. What was more important was that her husband loved and care for her.

Hamon stared at her with an unreadable expression, "...Never have I ever imagined you’d accept me being a mon_"

"No more, Hamon. Let me tell you something, even the first time I saw you transform, my most worry was if you felt pain. The thought of repulsion never crossed my_" she didn’t get to finish her words before Hamon pulled her into a cradling hug, he wrapped her body in a cradle of his arms, and though she couldn’t see his face, she felt his body slightly trembling against her. He then murmured softly into her hair, "...Thank you." The sheer intensity of his relief was conveyed in those simple words.

Ara also raised her hands to hold his waist and buried her head into his solid arms, "What were you thinking before for not letting me know about this? Did you think I’d change my mind because our children might turn out like you? That’s ridiculous. Why worry about the children who aren’t even born yet?"

"...I thought you’d mind having to deal with a husband that’s not human and kids who might turn out like him...any woman would worry about such things. Thus, I didn’t tell you, because I was afraid of losing you."

"Ha, you are such an idiot..." She murmured softly.

Hamon hugged her even more tightly. He had been afraid that she would turn away from him once she discovered the truth about him, but now he understood. The enormous fortune he had finding a woman that would love him regardless of what he was.

"Hamon, I want to know more about what you can do with your powers...Does it hurt when you transform?"

"Yes, my wife. I will tell you everything. Come." Hamon pulled away from the hug and led her to the couch in his study.
