Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 141: Conspiracy
Chapter 141: Conspiracy
Oliver soon gathered the entire servants in Hamon’s residence in a hall. The servants knew an assembly would be held soon with a princess in the building, but they didn’t expect it to be this much sooner. Since the wedding just took place yesterday, and now this?
The hall was filled with hushed whispers of the servants, as they all wondered what the assembly was for.
Oliver quickly ran to inform Ara, "It’s done, Your Highness."
"Alright, Thank you."
Ara made her way to the hall with Emma following behind her. As they reached the hall, Ara carefully ascended the platform Oliver had prepared, taking in the view of the large amount of crowd than she’d expected.
As the servants noticed her on the platform, the hall went quite and they all bowed together, and greeted in unison, "Hail the crown princess!"
Ara turned her head to survey the group and spoke in a calm voice, "As you all know, I’m the mistress of this residence now. And it’s my pleasure to meet you all today. I’d like to make some changes in this residence, and I hope you will all stand by the new rules."
"Yes, Your Highness!" They echoed in unison.
Ara turned behind and gestured for Emma to step forward then turned back to the crowd, "I’ll like to introduce Emma the new head maid of this residence, and I hope you all treat her with the respect she deserves as the head maid."
To the servants of the palace, the head maid was their immediate superior, who they would encounter the most than the mistress of the residence. Everyone’s attention turned to the young woman standing beside the princess.
Emma smiled at the crowds, "It’s a pleasure to meet you all. From today onwards, You can come to me when you need anything, so please feel free to ask me for anything. And I hope we all stick to the new rules the crown princess will set."
They all bowed to Emma, even though some wanted to protest as Emma looked younger than most of them, they had no choice but to bow in respect, "We understand, head madame!"
Ara watched them with a satisfactory look, she studied their faces one by one. Some of them she’d already seen several times before. Her green eyes soon fell on the maid who brought the perfume box to the parlor. Ara pointed towards her, "You, what’s your name?"
The maid immediately bowed, "My name is Camilla, Your Highness."
"Hmm, Camilla from now on you will be part of my personal maids." She declared.
Camilla’s eyes rounded in astonishment at the declaration, she lowered her head further down, "T-thank you, Your Highness."
Ara’s face looked calm outwardly, but secretly she exchanged glances with Emma. They’d already talked about this earlier, so Emma knew what Ara was doing. She wanted to keep the maid close to see if she was really associated with the queen. It was best to keep her close, who knows Camilla might be useful someday.
Ara resumed with her declaration. And soon she announced the new rules to all the servants. They all listened with full interest.

In the queen’s residence, Merona was seen going back and forth with five scented sticks in hand. She paced around with a calm aura. A spiral of scented smoke drifted around the air. She halted when she heard someone’s footsteps approaching her silently from behind,
"Your majesty." Came a soft voice from behind her. Merona turned her head at the voice, and saw Hera, Her head right hand lady stood before her.
Hera was a woman in her mid-forty and she was Merona’s head adviser, she lowered her head, "The crown princess accepted your gift, she didn’t suspect anything, Your majesty."
Merona chuckled softly, "Oh, wonderful, She’s as stupid as I’d thought then." She mused.
Hera continued, "The man mixed the thing to the perfume bottles as you’ve instructed. And since she didn’t noticed it, I guess the crown princess is just as dumb as we’ve thought."
The corner of Merona’s mouth tugged up, "I like the sound of a dumb crown princess, since she didn’t suspect anything, then I guess we have nothing to worry about now."
Merona’s light brown eyes glitened. She sent the gift as to test Ara, she wanted to know how dumb Ara was, however it turned out she was as stupid as she’d expected. Merona could have tried something more elaborate of course, but for now a little test to celebrate the arrival of the crown princess would suffice.
If Ara didn’t notice the bottles of perfume, that was fine. After all it wouldn’t be good for her plans if Ara were to get pregnant before she successfully finished killing Frederick with the poison she’d been feeding him. Just like she did with Margaret, the crown Prince’s mother!
She could still remember clearly how Margaret had easily fell in her trap, and now the bastard’s wife was just as naive as his mother. Merona wondered how they’d react if they knew what was in those perfumes. Insolent fools!
As if realizing something, Merona asked Hera, "Has Eadlin left with Edwin to Dumbarton already?"
Hera nodded, "Yes, Your majesty. They left awhile ago."
Merona turned and walked towards the couch, she gracefully sat down with a pleased expression. She knew her daughter was still sneaking out to meet the crown Prince. And her brother had suggested they take her to Dumbarton for awhile to strengthen her head. She wouldn’t want her ruining her perfect plans for the crown Prince and his wife.
Merona sipped from her cup of tea before she relaxed back on the couch like a fisherman waiting for a fish to get caught in his trap, "I like where all this is heading, I can’t wait to see how the bastard would react when he found out his wife would never be able to birth his child." She said and clicked her tongue, "What a pity, the lovely couple will not have their own child anytime soon." An evil-like smirk graced her face.
