Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 142: Tie it for me
Chapter 142: Tie it for me
Soon the sun began to set behind the horizon. As soon as Hamon returned to his residence from the royal council meeting, he strode straight to his chamber. The thought of coming home to his wife made him smile as he stepped inside the room. His residence had always been a lonely place before, he’d sometimes hated returning to the palace, but now he had a wife to return to, and soon they’d build a home, a family. Even though she didn’t love him yet, he’d wait for the day she’d fall in love with him and return his feelings, Hamon thought as walked inside his room.
He was to take Ara to the king’s residence tonight for dinner, but when he stepped inside the room, it was empty, but then he heard the sound of water in the bathroom and knew she was in the bath. A smile drew on his face as he recalled how Ara had slipped away from his hold in the training hall with her face all pink.
"How cute." He muttered, as he took off his coat and made his way to the other room to freshen up.
Soon Hamon stepped out from the room and found his wife already finished dressing up with the help of two maids. The maids quickly bowed as they noticed the Prince, "Your Highness."
He didn’t even pay any attention to the maids as his eyes were glued to Ara. She was wearing one of the dresses he’d got her. It was an orange dress with long loose sleeves but bare shoulders, it was tight around the waist and up, but loose from the waist down with a circular skirt. It had beautiful off-white patterns on the chest and at end of the sleeves.
Her red hair was divided into two halves, a straight lower half and a curlier upper half held up by a golden hairpin.
Hamon’s gaze traveled down her body and up again, he titled his head a bit as his eyes glittered in amusement.
Ara noticed his gaze on her, then turned to the maids, "You may leave." She dismissed them and they left with a bow. She turned back to Hamon who still stood on the same spot looking at her. He was also formally dressed in a fitted deep blue suit, except for his Ascot tie which was still undone. Her eyes fell on his hand and saw the black golden floral ascot tie in his hand. She looked at him curiously, but when their eyes met, she quickly glanced away, she still felt embarrassed about the kiss in the training hall. Ara avoided his gaze on her.
Hamon smiled as he slowly strode towards her, he then held out his Ascot tie, "Here, tie it for me."
Ara glanced at the ascot tie before she looked up at him, "Why?" She asked with her eyebrows knitted together.
"I heard that wives do it for their husbands every morning, so do it for me too." He mused like a child asking his mother to tie his collar.
Ara’s frown deepened, "Where did you hear that?"
"Well, I heard a man say it in the royal council meeting."
Ara cleared her throat and glanced away from him, "l- I won’t do it, ask one of the maids outside to do it for you."
Hamon’s eyebrows furrowed at Ara’s words, he narrowed his eyes, "And why should I ask a maid to do my Ascot tie when I have a wife and is perfectly capable of tying it for me?" He questioned displeased by the thought of asking a maid to do it when Ara could do it for him.
Ara blinked twice at his displeased expression, she hesitated to say something, "I..." then she pursed her lips and breathed a low sigh, then slowly admitted her inability, "I...I don’t know how to tie it."
Hamon’s eyebrows raised, "You’ve never tied it for anybody before?" He asked as he knew she had a brother and a father who used Ascot.
Ara shook her head, "You...there is no one for me to tie it for. My brother and father are soldiers, and they don’t usually wear clothes with Ascot or any neck tie...They usually wore their uniforms!"
Findara’s soldier’s uniforms already had its standing collars, so there was no reason to wear any tie. Even when her father or brother did have to wear one, they would normally ask the maids to do it for them not her.
Hamon’s lips pulled upwards, "Then tie mine, let me be your first."
Ara shook her head again, "No, I really don’t know how to do it, I might tie it wrong..."
Hamon took her hand and placed the black golden floral ascot tie in her hand as he said, "I don’t mind, am fine with it if you tie it wrong."
"But people will talk badly of me if they see you wearing an uneven tie."
Hamon chuckled softly, "Then I guess there will be bloodshed if anybody dares speak badly of my wife. I will slice their throat with my blade."
Ara was shocked by the casualness of his remark. She couldn’t tell how much of it was true and how much was a joke. As she didn’t move to tie his Ascot. Hamon gently pinched her cheek, Ara jolted and glanced at him, he then said, "Tie it for me, we have to leave soon."
Ara pursed her lips and was about to refuse again, but knew Hamon wouldn’t let a maid do it for him. She rolled her eyes, "Fine, I’ll tie it, but don’t say I didn’t warned you when I tie it wrong."
"I won’t, just tie it for me." Hamon slightly lowered his upper body to make it easy for her. Ara sighed and put it around his neck and concentrated on fastening the ascot.
Hamon gazed at her with a small smile as he watched her do his tie while she bit down on her lower lips in concentration. She looked so beautiful, heavens knew how much he wanted to lean down and kiss her, she was tempting him with how her shoulders and neck were bare. He secretly inhaled her sweet scent, she smelled so nice.
Ara felt his gaze on her, when she looked up, she saw that his gaze was fixed intently on her, "What are you looking at?"
"A moon descended from the sky."
His response came out of nowhere and Ara narrowed her eyes as she looked at him. He spoke again his voice husky, "My wife is so beautiful. You’re like a moon descended from the sky, you look more gorgeous everyday. It makes me want to keep you locked up so no one else will get a glimpse."
Ara’s face heat up. Her fingertips felt shakier than before, and she suddenly became aware of his proximity to her. His breath tickled her forehead, she didn’t want him to notice her burning cheeks, so she hurriedly tied it up then fixed his collar. It didn’t look as neat as when the maids would do it, but it was presentable enough to wear out.
"Am done."
Hamon stood back straight and carefully touched the Ascot with a look of satisfaction, "Mhm, I should have made you my wife in our previous lifetime." He hummed amused by the ascot tie she tied for him.
Ara alternated looking between Hamon and the ascot, she spoke with a perplexed expression, "Because I did your ascot?"
"Mhm." He hummed while still touching the ascot, "You are so good with it, from now on, you will be the one to tie it for me every morning." He declared with a pleased expression.
Ara glanced at the ascot, it wasn’t that good enough for him to be this satisfied with it to make her do it every day. She sometimes really wondered what was going on in Hamon’s head. She looked at him, he then extended his hand towards her as a gently smile graced his handsome face, "Shall we?" He asked.
Ara nodded and took his extended hand, and so they made their way to the king’s residence hand in hand. While Ara had completely forgotten to tell Hamon about the gift the queen sent to her.
