Chapter 130: Two men on the balcony

Hamon had also been surrounded by a few people ever since Ara left his side, but soon enough they all scattered away from around him, and he made his way to the opened balcony. Nobody approached him again, perhaps it was due to his aura that made all the guests avoid his direction. His eyes alone were able to scare them off.

As Hamon stood on the balcony, with his hands causally in his pocket as he watched the sky that was already turning dark, the sun had long set and evening was approaching. He sensed someone’s presence behind him, he then turned his head and saw a familiar face.

It was Henry, Ara’s older brother. He thought.

"What are you doing here by yourself, Your Highness?" Henry asked as he walked and stood beside Hamon on the balcony.

Hamon had once been given a cold reception by Henry, but the latter was in a very different mood now than that night. Hamon replied in a voice equally as flat as Henry’s, "I’m obviously waiting for my wife." He deadpanned.

Henry’s blue eyes shone brightly for a moment, a faint smile drew on his lips. He was pleased with how the crown Prince addressed his sister as his wife. It only meant he really cared for her. Henry, who had been trying to avoid the crowd and his younger sister, spoke calmly,

"If you don’t mind...can I stand here with you for some time?" He asked.

Hamon replied, "You are free to join me in watching the sky, I don’t mind. You’re my brother-in-law after all." Saying this, Hamon turned back to the view outside the balcony. However, he did not initiate any further conversation with Henry. And neither did Henry.

Henry had come there to have a talk with the crown Prince, but didn’t know where to start. So they both stood watching the horizon without exchanging any words.

As the silence passed for minutes, neither of them seemed uncomfortable standing without a word. Others might find it awkward, but as they were both used to silence, the silent atmosphere did not seem to feel awkward.

Finally after a long silence, Henry turned towards Hamon, "Your Highness..."

Hamon didn’t turn away from the horizon as he spoke, "I know you came here to say something, just say it."

"Take care of Arabella, she means the world to me."

Hamon glanced sharply towards Henry, his red eyes glowing dangerously, but despite the prince’s intimidating looks, Henry continued on calmly with his hands behind his back, "If you promise to take care of my sister...I will swear my loyalty to you, and the Boxton’s will forever be behind you."

Hamon chuckled darkly, "You say it as if the Boxton’s are not already a servant to the king. Are you forgetting your father the general is still under the king, and if I become king, I can control you? So are you trying to tell me if I make your sister, my wife unhappy, you will go against your king and go around?"

"...!"

Henry did not deny it, that was exactly what he’d do. He’d be the next general after his father, he would command all the army, and if Hamon made his sister unhappy...He wouldn’t think twice before going against him, even though he becomes king. His sisters were more important than anything in this world. He’d willingly give up everything for them, just like he’d promised their mother.

Hamon understood why Henry was here to negotiate with him, it was because he cared for his sister. Hamon smiled and continued, "I want you to listen to what I have to say, because I will only say it once, and I will not repeat it to you again. Your sister is now my responsibility, and I will do anything and everything to make her happy and comfortable in my palace."

Henry’s blue eyes flashed in doubt, "Do you mean your words?"

Hamon raised a brow, "What did I just say? I won’t repeat it to you again."

Henry frowned at Hamon’s arrogant attitude. He never thought the crown Prince was this way, but Anne had once told him that; if he looked into the crown Prince’s eyes, he would see how much he cared for Ara. Henry narrowed his eyes to look into Hamon’s red eyes.

Hamon’s eyebrows knitted together at Henry’s strange behavior, but didn’t say anything about it. He wondered, maybe something got into his eyes. Hamon then turned back to look at the horizon again.

As Henry saw he’d turned away. He didn’t know what was in the crown Prince eyes or heart, but he understood a little about what his crazy sister meant. After a few minutes of contemplation, Henry spoke,

"From now onwards, you have my loyalty on your side, Your Highness."

A smile graced Hamon’s lips as he thought of how Henry’s loyalty was tied to his sister’s happiness. He glanced over at Henry, who was standing next to him, if what he said had came from anyone else, other than his wife’s brother...He would not have tolerated it and cut off the person’s tongue, but it was Henry.

Hamon turned back to the sky again with an indifferent look and remarked, "Good, I look forward to working with you then."

Henry’s lips tugged up, "You can always depend on me, Your Highness."

They both continued to watch the sky in silence again. And so an unexpected relationship was made between the two men. Henry and Hamon stood together on the balcony with their firm broad back to the people in the hall.

The elite women in the hall kept stealing glances at the two handsome men on the balcony. It was a sight worth seeing.

At the far away corner in the hall, where they were only few people at the area. Cassius, had made an arrangement for his own special guests. He sat causally on the couch with two women on his both side, his front shirt buttons were left undone exposing his firm chest.

Under the table were dozens of empty wine bottles. Some of his friends also sat on different couches with women beside them, one even had a woman on his lap as they all drank.

One of his friends, who sat not too far from him remarked, "Prince Cassius, I thought the crown princess attended our party the other time...are you sure she didn’t see our big secret? What if she told it to your bro_"

Cassius cut him off with his hand in the air. He didn’t want to hear anybody mention his step-brother, "She didn’t see anything, because the bitch didn’t stay long even after I added it in the incense in the room, it didn’t affect her the way we planned." He said, "And even if she did see it, there is nothing she can do about it. She’s just a stupid woman with luck on her side."

"But, still. I think we should lay low for now be_"

THUD!

Cassius slammed his bottle onto the table, "Shut your mouth, Ian! You’ve been bothering about this same matter for days now. If you are feeling uneasy, then deal with the matter on your own and don’t bother us again."

"Yes, Ian. We don’t want to hear your concern again, if you are worried, you are free to step out of Prince Cassius’s group." Said the man with a woman on his lap.

Cassius continued, "You shouldn’t worry about such matter. Nobody can harm me when my mother is alive, not even my step brother, I will finish him up with my grandfather’s army if he dares to confront me. Who would dare lay a hand on me when I have this much power behind my back?"

"My apologies, Prince Cassius." Ian apologized with a slight bow.

Cassius face darkened even more as he suddenly recalled how the bitch had twisted his arm. He did not intend to let her go after such humiliation, but there was a time for everything. He’d interfere with the wedding planning before, but if his mother knew about it, she’d get mad at him again. As the queen had already ordered to let the wedding go through, but he wasn’t so stupid enough to let her know about what he’d done or planned to do.

Even if his mother found out about it, he would deceive her as always and enjoy himself.

_I am not done with you yet, Arabella. The more you resist me, the more I come after you, I will take you by force if I have to._

A crooked smile drew on his handsome face at the thought.
