Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 128: Warning
Chapter 128: Warning
As the celebration continued, people were having fun and interacting with each other. At the far end table, Claire sat with Eleanora and Catherine, the two ladies worryingly stared at Claire, who had been drinking ever since they’d arrived at the hall.
"Claire...I-I think that’s enough_"
"Shut up, Catherine! You can’t tell me what to do...that treacherous, liar of a queen promised me, she...She said he will be mine...but..." Claire’s eyes filled with tears as she watched how the crown Prince was pleasantly talking to the bitch. That was supposed to be her place, but that Arabella took it from her again.
Ever since they were young girls Ara had always stolen her place. When Claire used to go to dance classes, before Ara joined, Claire was the queen of dance, she had the attention of everybody, until the bitch came into the picture and stole the spotlight from her! Ara took everything from her including all the praises from the teacher. Even when Claire tried to impress their dance teacher with her beautiful and elegant dance skills, Ara had beat her to it! She’d hated her ever since then.
"Claire, you can’t call her majesty names, if someone hears you, you’d be in trouble." Eleanora said in concern.
Claire looked away from the couple and shot a glare at Eleanora, "I don’t care! And I don’t want to hear a word from both of you again." Claire warned through clenched teeth, and continued to drink. It’s not over yet, even with the vow of loyalty the crown Prince gave the bitch, she’d do everything and anything in this world to separate them! Even if it meant killing Ara, she’d do it. Nobody can take what was meant for her, the crown Prince was hers! She’d have him at all cost.

Back at the royal table, king Frederick who had been conversing with a man beside him suddenly started to couph violently, all the people seated at the table turned towards him, he then managed to say,
"I am sorry...I think I need to rest for sometime...I’ll head to my chambers to take my medicine."
Hamon and Ara rose straight from their seats. Hamon quickly went to support his father, "I’ll take you there."
Frederick raised his hand in protest, "No. You should stay back, it’s your day today. Enjoy it." He said then turned to Merona, who had been sitting wordlessly next to him, "I need a company, so come with me and get my medicine." He knew his wife disliked his son, so he wouldn’t want to leave them alone in the hall while he was gone, Merona might end up saying something she shouldn’t in public.
Merona glanced up at him with a forced smile, "You don’t think I’ll do something wrong while you are away, do you?" She asked with a smile, but her tone was churlish. However, Fredrick seemed accustomed to it. He replied, "I don’t think so, since you are my wife you are the only one who can take care of me. Not my son or servants."
"Alright, I’ll go with you." Merona smiled warmly and stood up as if she had no choice, then in a graceful motion she supported Frederick. On the outside the scene didn’t seem strange at all, but Hamon knew better.
Hamon had nothing against his father, but he’d blamed him for letting his mother go back then because of Merona’s schemes. He knew the queen had something to do with his mother’s death, but he had no proof against her.
But he was also well aware of his father’s up coming death... The hands of time might have turned back, but there were some things that couldn’t be changed, in his past life while he had still been in Greenwood, Hamon had later heard of his father’s death, and comparing the time from his past life to the present, it wouldn’t be too long from now. Even if it hadn’t happened yet, that knowledge pained him immensely.
Ara just stared at the pale king, she also knew his death was coming soon and was sure the queen had something to do with it. Ara bowed to Frederick, "Take your time to rest, father."
Frederick smiled, "Thank you, my child. Enjoy your time at the celebration."
Ara turned to bow to Merona, but she brushed past her without a second glance. Hamon had a cold expression on as he stared at Merona’s disappearing figure. The woman was too cunning, it was hard to know about her plans, but he’d do everything to make her pay for what she’d done.
After the queen and king were gone, all the attention was now turned towards the couple. Ara turned to Hamon and asked in a low voice, "I want to go and greet some of the people who came from far to attend our wedding...are you coming?" She asked, but Hamon said, "You should go first, I want to meet someone, I’ll be right there." He pointed to a direction, "Come and meet me there when you’re done."
Ara nodded, "Alright, I’ll go ahead first."
Hamon gave her a nod and Ara stepped away from his side. She spotted lady Elizabeth from far gathered around women, so she made to walk there but halted when she caught sight of someone.
Hair as black as the night, with her milky white skin slightly flushed. It was Claire, who was gazing mournfully at Hamon from where she stood. She wore a bluish dress. Ara had caught sight of her at the wedding ceremony, so she was not surprised to see her at the banquet. More importantly the Tudor were quite powerful in the kingdom.
As Ara gazed at Claire for a moment, as if sensing her gaze Claire turned towards her and began walking staggeringly in her direction. The click of her heels getting louder as she neared, but Ara strode towards her to meet her halfway, Claire appeared drunk, her hostility was obviously written on her face from the way she glared hatefully at Ara, but Ara spoke first, "How have you been lady Tudor?"
The corner of Claire’s mouth quirked up as she replied, "Why? Are you here to mock me...Your Highness?" She addressed her with the new title, but her tone was laced with sarcasm.
Ara smiled,"Why should I mock you? I was only here to congratulate you on your new position as the queen’s right hand lady."
"Oh, so you’ve heard of my new position in the palace. How wonderful we both will always be in the palace, aren’t you excited?" She asked. Her face was triumphant at the thought of always being in the palace. But Ara scoffed, "Feel happy all you want about your position in the palace, but let me warn you, if you try anything stupid with that position of yours...I won’t spare you this time."
"Are you threatening me, lady_ I mean Your Highness?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. Claire laughed internally at the threat, what could she possibly do to her?
Ara stepped into Claire’s space and spoke in a low voice barely above a whisper, "Yes, and I also heard you have your eyes on my husband...take your eyes off him, because if you try to do anything stupid this time...I won’t let it pass again."
Ara didn’t know why, but she didn’t like how Claire would always gaze at Hamon. And she knew Claire wouldn’t stop with her schemes that easily, especially now that she was working with the queen and could go and come into the palace at any time she pleases. She’d told Hamon to not punish Claire because she didn’t want the Tudor family to get involved, but if she continued with her scheme, Ara wouldn’t stop Hamon from punishing her again.
Ara stepped back and gave her final warning, "Keep that in mind, stay away from me or anything related to me...I don’t even want you glancing at my husband." She offered Claire a smile then turned to walk away, but halted when she noticed Eleanora and Catherine approaching, Ara recognized them as Claire’s minions.
Somehow, Catherine seemed more detestable than Eleanora. The ladies hurried to bow their heads when Ara’s gaze fell on them. They gave their respect befitting for any royal. Ara gave them their own warning, "I hope your eyes opened to see the right path, if you go ahead and join her in doing whatever it is she’s planning...consider yourselves dead, I won’t spare any of you." Ara brushed past them towards the center of the hall.
Claire’s face was furious red in anger. How dare that bitch threatened her?! Claire clenched tightly to the glass of wine in her hand before she angrily threw it to the floor, the glass broken fragments scattered across the marble floor. All the people standing around turned towards her direction with the sound. Some started to whispered to each other.
She clenched her fist tightly, her knuckles turning white. She even dared to threatened her to take her eyes off what was hers?! The crown Prince was hers! He was sent from heavens to her, she can’t let him go just like that.
