Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 127: Bloodthirsty demon

Chapter 127: Bloodthirsty demon

As the couple approached the hall, the guards standing at the door offered them a low bow before opening the double door. As soon as they entered the lavishly decorated hall.

All the guests, who were already mingling amongst each other stopped to look at the couple. The crowd clapped and some walked up to them to warmly congratulate the couple on their wedding day.

After the congratulations and greeting, Hamon took Ara straight to the table of the royals, Ara smiled as they approached the table.

King Fredrick was quick to glance at them and said, "My son and my daughter-in-law are finally here."

At the royal table, there were few people sitting there apart from the king and queen, sitting in their respective seats were a few people each who’d come to represent their kingdoms with gifts. The moment king Frederick spoke, they all glanced to the couple’s direction.

Queen Merona, who sat beside the king on the head table offered them a soft smile. While Ara offered her greetings to king Frederick, "Father." She bowed. He smiled warmly and gestured to the two empty seats beside him, "Oh, my child. You must be tried from all the standing, come, sit here and rest."

Hamon was taken aback by how his father was treating Ara nicely, and she even addressed him as father! Since when? He glanced at Ara curiously, but she shrugged as she smiled even further.

Ara was only doing everything to please the king in front of the guests, she wanted people to see that king Frederick was on their side, so when she’d approach anybody for alliance, they’d think twice before rejecting to support her husband!

Hamon and Ara took the two empty seats, as soon as they sat down, king Frederick turned to the guests at the table, "Shall we begin with the delegates?"

A man standing aside bowed, "Yes, Your majesty. First I will like to present the delegate from the kingdom of Bredon!"

A young woman stepped forward and gave a formal bow, Ara’s curiosity piked at the mentioned of Bredon, the kingdom was known for their strong military, their army alone was a large force to be reckoned with. The woman bowed before the royals, she looked like an amazonian with her straight posture, she had a short ear length black hair, with a small scar on her left cheek.

Delegates were usually typically men, but Bredon, as a kingdom that was known to have mostly women in their army than men, sent a woman to represent them. The woman wore a trouser with a brown body hug tailcoat, there was a sword resting on her waist, her dressing captured Ara’s interest. In these times when women were usually limited from what they could and could not do it was quite refreshing to see how Bredon had gone on to break from the norms and given women the freedom to stand as equals with men and not be suppressed.

King Fredrick sized the woman up before he remarked, "You must have found it hard to travel all the way to Findara as a woman..."

She smiled, "Not at all, Your majesty. Gender doesn’t matter in our kingdom, and it’s my honor to be the one to represent Bredon." She spoke confidently and steadily before glancing behind to signal to the others to bring the gifts forward.

"I present to you the most precious weapons made from Bredon kingdom. I hope that it pleases you, Your majesty."

A big chest was brought forward and was opened to reveal a set of shinning new, different varieties of weapons laying in it. Frederick smiled, "It’s my honor to accept such gifts, send my gratitude to your king."

The conversation seemed harmonious, but there was a subtle discreet note to it. The woman then turned towards Ara and Hamon, "We also brought a few gifts for the crown Prince, I hope you will like them?"

Another chest was also presented to Hamon, which seemed natural for a kingdom that had no special goods other than weapons. Hamon causally glanced at the opened chest before him, and gave his graduate in a nonchalant manner, "Thank you for this, send my thanks to your king."

The woman’s eyes suddenly shifted to Ara, and Ara offered her a small smile. For a moment their gaze met, but then the moment broke as she stepped away. Then the announcer came forward to call the next delegate,

"Here is the delegate from Greenwood kingdom."

The Greenwood representative stepped forward, he also brought a gift to the king as well as for Ara and Hamon. Hamon accepted the gift from Greenwood more warmly, as it was his mother’s land. As a lot of gifts were to be presented, there was no time to waste. Many delegation from different kings came forward to present their gifts one by one.

Soon the table was piled up with gifts from different other places. Ara noticed how they were all giving the gifts to the king, as if they were giving payment to not invade their kingdoms next.

Findara had been part of countless wars, and had ravaged and defeated many kingdoms because of the crown Prince, he was like a bloodthirsty demon on the battlefield. For the rest of the Kingdom who hadn’t been on a war with Findara would go to any lengths to avoid it, Findara was a symbol of fear with the crown Prince standing solidly behind it.

No one dared to challenge them. Frederick had a peaceful nature, he tried to avoid any bloodshed, but Hamon, he seemed to have the bloodthirsty streak of a demon king.

Hamon was better known among the foreign kingdoms rather than in the neighboring or Findara, as he’d encountered the other kingdoms directly in the battlefield. Even Ara knew how he was on the battlefield, from what people said he was nothing short of a demonic fiend that annihilated his enemies without leaving a trace of them.

The delegates from different kingdoms who sat at the table kept staring discreetly at Hamon. They all had the same fear in their eyes. Some had even turned pale from the sheer fright of being in the same room as the rumored demon himself, his presence and nonchalantly detached behavior further enhanced their fear of him.

Hamon noticed how the man sitting opposite him was literally trembling, he narrowed his eyes at the man wondering what was wrong with him, but the man almost shrunk down in fright.

Ara also noticed how frightened all the guests at the table looked. And saw how some where stealing glances at Hamon, she turned towards Hamon. Feeling her gaze on him, he looked away from the trembling man and turned to Ara, he bent over slightly and whispered in her ear,

"What are you looking at, wife?" His tone was playful but Ara was flustered, perhaps it because he addressed her as wife? The delegates all looked in astonishment at how the bloodthirsty demon crown Prince was whispering playfully to his wife.

Ara replied in a low voice, "I think they are frightened...look how they’re all staring at you..."

Hamon’s expression turned serious as he turned to look at the people sitting at the table one by one, they all looked away as they met his red eyes. He turned back to Ara and whispered, "You don’t like them looking at me? Do you want me to dig their eyes out?"

Ara quickly shook her head, trying to assuage Hamon’s threatening tone, "No, am just surprised. They all seem to know you well. You are really famous among the foreign kingdoms."

Hamon chuckled softly, "Maybe. Actually not all of them know me, they just heard the rumors about me, that’s why they look frightened."

"Are the rumors about you that frightening to the ear?" She made a joke about what she already knew. Hamon paused for a moment as if in thoughts before he replied in a deadpan voice,

"Not in any way. I’m hundred percent sure they are talking about how nice I am when it comes to killing and taking their things after a war...anyway, if you hear them say a word of my kindness out. Just let me know about it."

"Why should I? You want to punish them?" She already knew how Hamon’s head worked. But he laughed, "Punish them? Of course not, I only want to reason with them in my own kind way."

Ara could no longer hold back her laugh, she laughed softly and used her palms to cover her mouth. She knew him so well, the day Hamon would gently admonish anyone twice would be the day she died.

As the couple laughed and whispered to each other forgetting they were in the presence of guests. All the guests at the table stared at them in astonishment. The bloodthirsty demon crown Prince was laughing with his wife?!

Queen Merona stared at them. Her brown eyes glimmered as if she’d discovered a gem. So it was true, the bastard loved his wife? How wonderful! This would help her a lot. She’d found his weakness! She’d never seen him talk this pleasantly to anyone before, but now he was doing so with his wife. She’d use his wife to get to him in the future!
