Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 112: Meeting Cassius

Chapter 112: Meeting Cassius

The next day as the warm morning sun rose up. Ara had decided to take Merek with her in case of anything. Not that she couldn’t handle the second Prince herself, but she had to hide her fighting skills as Hamon had said.

Ara had summoned Merek and told him everything, but not entirely everything. She didn’t tell him about Cassius’s threat.

"His Highness is not going to like it if you don’t tell him, My lady."

Ara nodded in agreement and continued, "Yes, am aware of that, but I wanted to attend seeing it was Prince Cassius who invited me himself, I have no reasons to refuse." She didn’t reveal to him that the prince had invited her before and she had refused and that he’d sent the second invitation with a threat.

Merek slowly nodded, "I see..."

_That doesn’t mean I won’t tell His Highness, it’s an order to report everything to him._ he said internally.

"When is the party?" He asked.

"It’s tonight, I want you to be around."

Merek’s expression quickly changed as he heard her words. _Tonight? I need to report to His Highness immediately._

"Alright, My lady. I will be around." He replied with a bow, and left.

Merek quickly slipped out of Ara’s window, he needed to report it to the crown Prince as soon as possible. He was only a few steps away when he felt someone’s presence behind him. But when he turned, there was nobody there.

Merek walked towards the direction he sensed the presence, but whoever it was keeping watch at Ara’s room early in the morning was gone.

He checked the surrounding but there was no sign of anyone. He was sure someone was here a moment ago. His forehead creased, there were not many people who could escape from his over sensitive sense. Whoever was hiding there awhile ago must be a highly trained person.

But he wouldn’t risk it, someone was watching over Ara’s moves apart from him. He had to report this to the crown Prince.

Merek hurriedly left the premises in no time, he moved at such a speed that if one didn’t look well, you’d think he disappeared. Immediately Merek was gone, a slender figure emerged from behind a wall.

The person was none other than Ellyn who was hired at the Boxton mansion under false pretense.

"He’s not bad looking, I wonder who he is?" Ellyn smiled in amusement, such handsome man had come from Ara’s room at this early morning. Ellyn’s interest couldn’t help but be piqued.

"I know he’s one of the crown Prince dogs...what a pity I will have to get rid of him when needed."

Ellyn was a highly skilled warrior. She was one of the slayers, she was an extremely deadly and skillfully trained assassin who Cornell had trained and could kill with her eyes closed, but she couldn’t do it without an order. She was here on a mission, but she’d report this to Ulric first.

"This is really getting more interesting! I haven’t killed in awhile now, I miss the smell of blood and watching a helpless victim squirm for their lives, I need to get the order." She beamed excitedly.

The evening of the party eventually arrived. Ara stood by the carriage with her sister and the butler. As she stepped inside the carriage, the butler bowed, "My lady, please be careful."

His grim expression told Ara that he was aware of the second Prince’s threat, but she replied calmly, "Thank you, I’ll be back before you know it, butler."

Anne, oblivious to what was happening or what was in store for her sister, looked all smiley as she waved her hand, "I hope you enjoy yourself at the occasion, don’t stay long."

"I won’t..." Ara waved back, and then the carriage began to move forward. It drove to another direction, not the palace, but to a place she never knew existed before now.

The road was so deserted with no passing carriages or people in sight. Ara watched the passing trees through the window. She remembered the night she and Hamon had once rode on a horse through the forest road.

She sighed as she looked away from the window, she had to get all this over with. But her chest was suddenly feeling heavy for some unknown reason.

After a long ride in the carriage, they finally arrived at the address written on the card. The coachman opened the carriage door for her, and she carefully stepped down and said to the man, "You can park around here somewhere, I won’t stay long."

"Yes, My lady."

Ara did not plan to stay long anyway. She just needed to talk to Cassius to end all his games. She glanced up at the building, which stood tall alone in the place. As Ara walked to the entrance, the people standing around the place, all turned their heads towards her. But she walked past them and went straight into the building.

Inside it was filled with people, it was strikingly different from any other events she’d attended before. It looked so abnormal to her. The gathering she usually went to, had large hall with people mostly standing while discussing, but this one...

There were sofas and tables scattered all around the hall with dim light, some people were already mingling with each other. While some were sniffing something and behaving strangely.

Her green eyes curiously glanced around, but immediately regretted doing so as her eyes fell on two people. A woman seated on a man’s lap passionately kissing. She quickly averted her eyes from them and looked around. Much to Ara’s embarrassment, the place was filled with only young men and women behaving lascivious.

There was an open space on a platform up ahead and a few women in strangely exposing clothes were swaying, moving with a snake like agility to the music, their clothes showed their chests, their waists, the skirts with incredibly high slits, it was obvious they were from a brothel.

This place doesn’t seem like a place where a decent person would come to. She hadn’t expected to come and met with all this.

_Maybe am seeing wrong because of the light._

The lightning was so dim that she couldn’t see anybody’s face clearly.

_Where is Cassius?_

Suddenly she heard footsteps behind her, Ara turned around and saw it was Cassius approaching with a wide smile on his face.

He seemed to recognize her immediately as well, "Wow, My beautiful sister-in-law has finally arrived." He announced as he stood in front of her with another man beside him who was looking her up and down.

The corner of Ara’s mouth pulled up, "Of course, you were so persistent with your invitation, so how could I have refused, Your Highness." She responded so causally without showing her inner annoyance while drawing the line by addressing him that way.

Cassius laughed, "Oh I would have really been disappointed if you didn’t show up today. Welcome to my world, sister-in-law."

Ara gave him a small smile while he also smiled back, giving each other amiable smiles, but inwardly they were testing each other keeping their true thoughts hidden.

Cassius turned to the man beside him and said, "Go ahead, I’ll join you guys later after I’m done discussing with my sister-in-law."

The man whispered something to him before he sized Ara up and down, then walked away from there.

Cassius said to Ara, "Let me take you to a place where we can have a talk. Come this way, sister-in-law." He motioned for her to follow him.

Ara followed behind him quietly, but she couldn’t help but noticed how he had been addressing her as "Sister-in-law" the entire time hiding his true intentions. She knew Hamon could be mischievous at times but he was always straightforward, he never hides his true character to anybody. But Cassius was nothing like him.

Cassius halted in front of a door, and pushed it opened. But the moment she entered, there was a thick smell of something in the air, whatever it was, was disturbing to her.

The room was decorated luxuriously with a sofa and a table filled with different kinds of refreshments.

"Have a seat." He gestured for her to sit at the sofa, and she did just that and she asked, "Why are we the only ones in here?"

Cassuis also took his seat across from her with a crooked grin as he fixed her with his burning gaze, "Oh, I arranged this so we could talk privately. Don’t you like it?"

Ara didn’t like the strange strong smell she was perceiving, but answered calmly hiding her dislike, "No. So what do you want to talk about?"

"Why are you in such a hurry? Are you going somewhere else?" He asked with amusement.

He seemed to find glee in playing with her, but his glibness caused her a level of discomfort quite unlike Hamon.
