Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 111: Cassius’ threat

Chapter 111: Cassius’ threat

Back at the Boxton mansion, Jacob the butler had been facing hell and was so anxiously awaiting Ara’s return. Ara had made arrangements for workers to decorate the Vollorbe square hall, she’d even spoken to the florist who’d deliver the flowers to the venue, but the man had sent a letter this afternoon saying they weren’t available again.

But that wasn’t all of it, all the workers decorating the venue had also left the work unfinished saying they were ordered to stop. A lot of people assigned had all backed out of the wedding preparations.

Soon after all that, a servant from the royal palace had come back to deliver another letter to the mansion. It was from the second Prince, the servant had said while giving the letter,

"Take this and pass it on to lady Ara. Tell her she couldn’t refuse His Highness’ orders to attend, she must come or face the consequences of her actions."

Jacob looked at the letter with trembling eyes. He didn’t need an explanation to understand the situation they were in at the moment. Prince Cassius was behind all this, the workers wouldn’t suddenly refuse to assist them just like that.

"Where are you, lady Ara?" He mumbled. He knew something like this would happened from the moment Ara had returned the invitation.

It was already getting dark, but Ara wasn’t back yet. Where was she?

Just as Jacob was wondering where Ara was, he heard a sound of carriage outside. He quickly ran out, and there he saw Ara walking in with her face slightly flushed with a small smile on her face.

But the moment she saw Jacob worried expression the smile fell. "What’s wrong, butler?"

Jacob hurriedly strode towards her, and explained everything that happened the entire day, he then said, "This is the letter he sent again."

Ara immediately took the letter from his hand and opened it, but her face hardened after reading it.

[Aww, too bad, you are too busy with your wedding planning. But don’t worry, I have helped you with it, I have made it easier for you now. But if you still refuse me this time even after my help. You are not going to like what will come your way, Arabella. Please refuse me this time if you dare!

From you kind hearted brother-in-law- Cassius.]

Ara crushed the letter in her fist. Jacob glanced at her in shock, but she ignored the butler’s reaction and tossed it away into the trash.

"No, My lady. You shouldn’t have done that..."

Ara scoffed, "Shouldn’t have done what? Prince Cassius is really testing my patience, and he’s really finding his little games amusing!"

All the workers in charge of decorating the venue had stopped, and this letter only meant one thing; if she did not accept his invitation this time, he would sabotage the wedding. Ara was struck dumb for how he dared try to do such thing. This was not just her wedding but Hamon’s. But Cassius was daring enough to threaten them?

However, Cassius still seemed determined to make a demonstration if she choose to refuse him again. Furthermore, she was more annoyed to have to deal with his silly little games he was playing. And if she went to report it to the king, the workers wouldn’t dare testify that it was the second Prince who made them stop.

Because Cassius had the support of his mother and Dumbarton, not even the king himself could lay a finger on his own son, so who was Ara to go against him when even the king couldn’t? And if she happened to tell Hamon...

Hell might break lose, he won’t take it easy and might even end up doing something to his half-brother. Ara had been with Hamon for long enough to know how he’d react to the situation.

If he found out that Cassius had stopped the preparation for the wedding, he would use extreme and wicked means to punish him. But that wasn’t something she’d want to happen now that he’s still just a crown Prince.

Cassius had only done all this to make her attend his party, but if Hamon got involved, it would be an all out war, and there would be no telling what Merona would do if he did something to her son. It would not stop at a childish play like it started. But if the wedding preparations were to be stopped for long...

Hamon might soon find out about it and confront his brother, and that would be a big trouble.

_Why in heavens name is he insisting I attend his stupid party? What is my presence going to do to him?!_

Ara felt the uneasiness return again, she’d felt this way when he sent the first invitation, but she couldn’t understand why he was so obstinately wanting her to attend. Was it because she was marrying Hamon? Or...

Jacob, who had been quiet spoke with a concerned expression, "My lady...are you going to attend it?"

She sighed, "Yes, he wants me to attend, then I’ll go there."

"Milady, I think you should let the crown Prince know first before you go there tomorrow. It doesn’t seem right to me that he insists you attend."

Ara’s green eyes flickered at his words, "No need, I can handle this myself. So the crown Prince doesn’t have to know about this, I want to personally meet Prince Cassius anyway."

She’d wanted to meet the second Prince and know who he really was, so it would be easy to remove him when Hamon becomes king. She’d met the princess and somehow knew she was kind, but Cassius would be number to cut out.

A lot of elites in Findara were supporting Cassius as he had backing, and they said he was more responsible than Hamon, she’d wanted to see in what way he was more responsible, so it would be easy to remove him from the picture. So why not just meet him?

Ara suddenly recalled Cassius’ words at the grand ball.

_’Dance with me next time...I’m a good dancer, much better than my step brother.’_

Her lips pulled up in a smile. To her, Hamon was beyond anything, he was strong, bold, smart, most importantly, caring. She wouldn’t exchange him for anything in this world. Even though he was just her best friend.

_it’s time to end Cassius little games, I will meet him if that’s what he wanted._ her green eyes glimmered as a smile grace her lips.
