Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 110: Watching the sunset

Chapter 110: Watching the sunset

As they reached the place Hamon said. Ara couldn’t help but smile at the sight in front of her. She admired the breathtaking scenery. Sometimes she wished she could see what was inside his brain.

She glanced down at him, "Why are we here?"

Currently, he brought her to a log cabin built closer to a river bank, with a short length wooden bridge attached to the small cabin and lead to the river. And she was standing on the bridge at the moment while Hamon was already seated at the edge of the bridge with his trouser folded and his feet dipped inside the flowing river.

He stretched his hand from where he sat, "Come here and join me."

Ara slowly bent over and took off her shoes before placing her hand on his and used the other hand to slightly lift up her dress before sitting down beside him and also dipping her feet into the river.

The sunset created a breathtaking beautiful scenery around them, with the two of them sitting at the edge of the bridge, the sunset created a beautiful halo around them, from behind, one could see a broad back and a slimmer one both seated side by side bathed by the golden lights from the sunset, the image was quite captivating. But Ara couldn’t help but wonder the reason for bringing her to a place like this.

She glanced towards him. As if he felt her stares, he said, "You must be wondering why I brought you here? When I was younger, I used to come here whenever am stressed, the sound of the flowing river is always soothing and makes all the worries go away."

"Did you bring me here because you think am worried?"

She felt warmth spread through her body at his words. She stared at him with a faint smile, they were the only ones on the bridge. The water beneath her feet felt so cold as it flowed past her feet. It made her feel like all her problems were slowly fading away.

"Mm, I just wanted us to be alone." He responded with his eyes ahead looking at the sunset, she also glanced away from him and gazed at the sunset. She never thought Hamon was the kind to sit and watch the sun go down.

"Sometimes, I want to open your head and see how you think..." She murmured.

"Go ahead."

"What?"

He shifted his gaze to Ara, "You don’t have to open my head to know, just ask me anything you want to know. And I’ll answer you honestly."

At his comments, she suddenly couldn’t think of what to ask him again. She gazed at him as the sun slowly sinking behind the horizon. Spectacular shades of red creeping onto the sky, and it glowed on Hamon’s handsome face. Making him look like an angel, it was then that Ara realized that there was no one else around but just him. And it felt as if they were the only ones who existed. Yet she somehow felt no solitude, the fact that it was just him with her at this moment calmed her in a way that astonished her, she felt completely at ease.

The calm sound of the river flowing made her heart shiver. Hamon stared at her with an expression she couldn’t read, she then asked, "Tell me what you are thinking right now?"

He turned his head behind him towards the log cabin and answered, "I am thinking of living in a peaceful place like this one."

Ara also gazed at the log cabin with her forehead creased, "A place like this? What do you like about such small cabin?"

Hamon’s red eyes flickered, he then removed his feet from the flowing river and sat to face her, "Because it’s small." He replied.

"Huh? Because it’s small?"

He continued with a soft smile, "I like it because it’s so small that there’s no place to run away or to look at someone else."

"You are really strange, Hamon."

"Hmm, I know. How would you interprete that?"

"That? Well..." She paused and gazed at his crimson eyes and continued, "It sounds like you want to lock up something in there?"

As soon as she said that, Hamon let out a burst of laughter. He looked so happy that Ara’s eyes rounded at the sight of his joyful expression, "Your answer is really unexpected, but you are almost there." He said.

Almost there? It definitely sounded that way to Ara. A small house where one couldn’t run away or think, wasn’t he trying to lock something there? She felt quite uneasy at the thought. But he continued to speak with a smile,

"But you are not completely wrong on that. Future wife. I wouldn’t lock it up yet, but as I am rather selfish, I want to capture it’s whole before I lock it up for myself."

What the heck does that even mean?! She thought.

He resumed, "Which is why I will wait until it accepts me wholeheartedly, however, I don’t know when that day will come."

_What in heavens name is he saying?_ she stared at him with confusion, "I am not getting a single thing you’re saying. What do you want to keep or lock up so badly that you will wait for it to accept you wholeheartedly? Can’t you just chase after the thing and lock it up?"

Hamon parted his lips to answer, but stopped.

_it’s you I want to keep with me so badly. To live a peaceful life, but I will wait for the day you will accept my heart and learn to love me the same._

He stared at her with a smile and said, "I can’t tell you. It might run further away from me again."

Run away? What was he talking about? She thought.

"If I say out my feelings to it. It might push me away and reject me, and I won’t be able to handle a rejection and I might end up doing something that will further make it hate me instead of accepting me."

Ara glared at him displeased, "What are you saying? Didn’t you just say you will answer any questions I ask you? But why are you speaking in riddles making me get more curious?"

He chuckled, "But am being honest right now, and I can’t tell you everything."

Ara was taken aback by that. She never knew being honest meant not revealing his thoughts, and he’d said he would answer all her questions, but here he was not making her understand a thing he said!

Despite Ara’s annoyed glares, Hamon continued to speak in a bright mood, "It’s so easy to understand if you think it hard enough...think again, What do I want to keep so badly? If you guess it right, I will give you whatever you wish for."

"Really?" She asked, "Let me think then."

She placed her index finger on her chin, while she think. The situation felt similar to when Hamon had refused to tell her about their past life. Ara reversed the words Hamon had said. Something he wanted to keep, but it would run away from him if he says his mind.

Which meant it’s a living thing that could move by itself. So that meant it could be an animal too. Ara thought long and hard, then immediately clapped her hands together as if she’d figured it out.

"I know what you mean!"

Hamon’s face brightened in anticipation, but her next words was definitely unexpected, "You want to keep an animal in the log cabin as a company!"

Hamon fell back on the wooden bridge and burst into a fit of laughter, he turned over as if he couldn’t control his laughter.

"Why are you laughing?! Did I guess it wrong or right?"

"Ha ha ha, Your imagination is really much sillier than I’ve thought. An animal? You are really something else, future wife." He laughed.

Ara also removed her feet from the river and moved to where Hamon laid down on his back laughing, she loomed over him and send a gentle punch to his chest, "You dimwit! Tell me what you mean right now or I will push you into this river, Hamon!" She threatened with a playful tone.

"Go ahead, but even if you do that, I still won’t say it out."

Ara repeatedly hit his chest, but despite that Hamon continued to laugh. Soon the red glow of the sun was falling behind them. If anybody should see them in that position, they looked like a perfect pair of lovers having fun with each other on the wooden bridge.

While Ara was here with Hamon she was unaware of what was happening at the Boxton mansion.
