Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 109: A place for us
Chapter 109: A place for us
Ara had experienced this several times with Hamon, she wondered how much wealth he possessed to spend this much. Hamon had wanted to purchased the rest of the unfinished gowns, but Ara had managed to stop him from doing so.
However, he had already paid for the six gowns, and Ara couldn’t do anything about that. She had mixed feelings as she observed lady Millicent’s overjoyed expression.
"Please do come back to get your dresses from our shop next time, My lady!" She bid them farewell at the entrance with a beaming smile, and the four finally emerged from Teawe dress shop.
Anne and Eadlin, were busy discussing about the wedding the whole time, Anne turned to Ara and asked, "Sister, are you fine with any of the six gowns? You’ll wear one of them on the wedding day right? If you want we can check the other shops"
Ara shook her head, "No, am fine with the ones we bought, there’s no need to check the other shops."
They had already brought this much, and if they went on to another shop, Hamon might further purchase everything.
Hamon interjected, "Oh, you don’t have to be hasty with your decision, future wife. There is no harm in taking a look at the other shops, you might see other things you like." He suggested nonchalantly with his hands in his pocket.
Ara was bewildered to see him talk so idly even after this massive purchase.
"Do you plan to buy just as much from the rest of the shops in the town?" She asked.
He shrugged, "If you like it, I don’t see why not to buy them. And besides it doesn’t have to be for the wedding day either, you can add them to your wardrobe after our marriage. Take it as a wedding gift from your husband to be."
Wedding gowns were far more expensive than any other gowns, and were more likely to be worn on the wedding day rather than any occasion. Even though all elites dreamt of a designer wedding gown, the prices were so high that only a limited number of shops could make them. And yet Hamon so causally suggested to buy more after already buying six of them.
No matter how much she grew up as a noble daughter, his ways of spending was alien to her. "We are only having our wedding once, but look, we brought six wedding gowns already. There is no need to check for more."
He lifted an eyebrow, "Do you want us to hold a few more encore weddings in the future?" He asked, "We can do that too, so the wedding gowns will come in handy."
"That’s not what I meant, Hamon."
He sighed, "I want to spoil my bride so badly, but she doesn’t seem to like it." He complained, then tucked a strand of her red hair behind her ear as he asked, "Don’t you want me to spoil you, My sweet bride?"
"...!"
For a moment Ara couldn’t find her words. She had never expected such sweet remark and gesture from him. A blush crept up her cheeks. While Anne and Eadlin who were at the side watched them with different expression. Anne had an envious look, while Eadlin had an awkward expression on her face.
The atmosphere turned warm, while they were forced to eat dog food.
"Hamon...I appreciate your thoughts, but I will be seen as a crown princess who wastes money on unimportant occasion. And an encore wedding is not needed."
It wasn’t a matter of frugality, having an encore wedding would be wasting the royal wealth on unnecessary things. In fact, she was determined to contribute to the wealth, and not drain it away.
Hamon smiled then patted her head gently, "What are you thinking? It doesn’t matter what or how much things I buy for you, because everything were purchased with my own personal fortune. And secondly, the royal finances aren’t so strained to collapse just because I bought these little things for you. And lastly..." He paused, his red eyes bored into her green ones, "I want you to get used to this to the extent you won’t ever think of leaving my side again. I will buy you everything in the world just to have you stay by my side."
Ara’s green eyes widened, it sounded like if he could buy her heart, he would pay any price for it. She suddenly felt her heart skip a beat. They both stared at each other in silence without a word.
Eadlin cleared her throat to gain their attention, "Ahem."
Ara quickly came back to her senses and glanced at the two girls, who wore slightly embarrassed looks on their faces.
"I apologize for interrupting, brother. But I think the six gowns are enough." Eadlin said, and Anne supported, "Yes, they’re enough for the wedding, brother-in-law, they is no need to buy more."
Ara also nodded in agreement, the three ladies stared at him, waiting for his response. Only then did Hamon relented, "Alright, the six is enough. But Anne, If there’s anything you need for the wedding preparations, make sure to send me a letter to let me know."
"Yes, brother-in-law."
Anne had no intentions of rejecting Hamon’s offer, If they needed help for the preparation, she’d surely contact him. Ara glared at her sister, but Anne winked at her.
Eadlin stepped closer to Anne and whispered something in her ears, which the couple didn’t hear, Anne eyes lit up at whatever the princess had whispered to her. She then cleared her throat, "Sister, Eadlin and I will return to the Boxton mansion, I want to show her some of my favorite books."
"Alright, since am done with choosing the gowns, let’s go back_"
"No, Sister. You’ve been so busy preparing for the wedding, you haven’t been able to spend some time with your fiance. It’s a beautiful day for couples to have fun. We will leave you both."
Anne tugged Eadlin’s hand and moved away. Hamon responded pleasantly, "I’ll see you next time, sister-in-law." He said then turned to his half-sister, "And you, I’ll send a carriage to pick you up later."
"Yes, brother. Thank you for bringing me out with you today." Eadlin beamed and pulled Anne towards the Boxton carriage.
Ara just stared at the two as they stepped inside the carriage. She knew it would be useless to stop her sister from going. Hamon then turned to Ara and spoke softly, "Your sister and mine seem to get along quite well."
Ara was also thinking the same, but she wondered how the princess was so different from her mother and brother. "Does the queen know she came out with you?" She asked still looking towards where the carriage had disappeared.
He shrugged, "I am not sure, she sneaked up to me when I was about to leave the palace. She’d been insisting to go with me, so I bought her along. She’s a nice girl, you can trust her."
"I can see that..."
But Ara didn’t completely trust the princess, knowing she was the daughter of Merona. And she wanted to protect her sister from any slightest harm that would befall on her in the future. She couldn’t trust anybody now, she would never let Anne die before her in this lifetime. And if it meant to limit her contract with people, she’d do just that to keep her safe.
As Ara was gazing mournfuly at the direction the carriage left in. Hamon’s hands turned her chin towards him, she stared questioningly at the look of dissatisfaction he wore on his face.
"You are gazing over there while am right here beside you. You worry too much about your sister and it makes me so jealous whenever you do that."
Ara was about to ask him what he meant, but before she could do so. Hamon took her hand and pulled her to the opposite direction from where the carriage left.
"Where are we going, Hamon?"
Hamon glanced sideways with a grin, "To a place for only the both of us, where you will only worry and focus on me alone, My future wife."
