Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 107: Surprise!
Chapter 107: Surprise!
Ara quietly considered Cassius’s invitation for some minutes, and then made up her decision. Cassius and Ara could never be on a good page with one another. He was another obstacle to Hamon for the throne. And would be removed immediately after Hamon becomes king.
She had no reasons to try to be on good terms with him or attend his useless party either. And she had a bad feeling about Cassius suddenly inviting her to such thing.
Ara returned the card and the letter inside the golden envelope, then glanced at the butler, who had been waiting for her reply, "Butler, please send someone to return this to the second Prince, and inform him; am too preoccupied with my wedding preparation to make it to the party." She ordered as she handed him the envelope, but the butler hesitated to take it from her hand, with a worried expression on his face he responded,
"My lady...it’s a sign of disrespect to reject an invitation from any royal family...do you think it’s alright to return it?"
Jacob, the butler was worried, he’d received many kinds of invitation for the young lady, but this was the very first time any royal servant had personal came to delivered an invitation. And was also worried that rejecting it might cause Ara problems with the royals after her marriage.
Ara replied without a second thought of the consequences of her rejection, "Yes, return it. I am too busy to have time for such thing, I don’t care what the second Prince will think of it."
She was aware of how Cassius’s parties were always extraordinarily extravagant. As many kind of rumors swirled about it, some people say; the second Prince parties were like a life in paradise and noble children who attended it, get to enjoy different kinds of fun.
However, Ara had no interest in such things. Even less when Cassius was not on good terms with Hamon.
"Alright, My lady. I’ll send a servant to deliver your message right away." He bowed and left the room to go do as he was told. Ara had felt a sense of dread when she saw the invitation, but felt at ease after declining it. The second Prince could go to hell with his party!

The day Ara and Anne had planned to go to the dress shop finally came. The Boxton carriage halted in front of the Teawe’s dress shop. Ara who had been busy planning for the wedding for days, was relieved to eventually be outdoors.
She took in a deep fresh amount of air and exhaled as she stepped out of the carriage. She could sense that the season was changing. It was a sunny afternoon, and the sun was in full view in the sky, not like the cloudy weather in the past few days.
"Am really glad the weather has gotten warmer now." Ara remarked as she’d been worried about her sister, who was more comfortable in the warmer season than cold. Anne also interjected with her own different concern. "Yes, me too. A wedding in spring is much better than winter."
"Why do you think so?" Ara asked.
"Well there’s something extra special about getting married during the spring season, as it’s all about rebirth and renewal, it’s the best season to start your new life together with brother-in-law as a married couple." Anne expressed her thoughts. And Ara smiled at her sister’s sweet words, "Yes, that’s right..."
It had always been Ara’s responsibility to lecture Anne, but now that was changing little by little. And Ara felt proud to see her sister all grown up now.
"Anne, You’ve really been acting more mature this past few days."
"Really?! Thank heavens then, I want to be mature and not childish anymore."
"But, it’s still alright to act childish as you are still young." Ara said but Anne shook her head, "No, I don’t want to be childish, I am a grown woman and I want to be seen that way..."
For a moment, Anne wore a sombre smile and a distant look on her face. It was so different from her usual loud and crazy self that Ara couldn’t help but question, "Is there someone you like and don’t want to look childish for?"
"Huh, someone I like?! No, No, it’s nothing like what you’re thinking." She denied with a wave of her hands. She couldn’t let her sister know about her crush on mister thief, and she had been disappointed he didn’t show up for the interview even though she’d waited for days now...
Ara had noticed her sister’s strange behavior for the past few days but hadn’t said anything on it until now, she gave Anne a side glare, "You must not hide things from me if you find someone you like, let me know about it first, alright?" She instructed with a firm tone, but Anne scoffed, "Oh like you told me about your relationship with the crown Prince, right?" She asked in sarcasm.
"What? Mine is different, Anne."
Her contract relationship with Hamon was way far from what Anne thought. Not just that, Ara couldn’t imagine sending her only sister to just any man, No matter who he was. Her sister was more precious than anything in this world, and she wouldn’t let her fall for any man just yet, not until she was sure the future wouldn’t repeat itself.
Anne forced a smile at Ara’s sudden change of displeased expression, "Okay, I don’t have anyone I like, Sister. Let’s go inside the shop already." She assured and pulled Ara’s hand forward. Only then did Ara’s displeased expression turn to normal and followed behind her.
As she pushed the entrance door, it opened with a clear sound of a bell. And the moment they stepped inside, they were met with all the workers lined up at the entrance with their heads slightly bowed in greeting.
Lady Millicent quickly walked towards them and bowed her head deeply to the waist, "Welcome, My ladies. We’ve been awaiting your arrival since morning."
Ara was taken aback by the extraordinary welcoming, she wondered why the spacial treatment. Was it because she was getting married to the crown Prince?
"Thank you for welcoming us...Are the wedding dress samples ready?" She questioned going straight to the point of what brought them to the shop.
Lady Millicent was quick to nod her head, "Yes, My lady. Follow me this way, please."
The sisters followed behind the woman. But Ara couldn’t help but notice how dead silent the entire shop was. The last time they visited, there were sounds of sewing machines all around the building, it was strange how everything was quiet today.
"Lady Millicent, your shop seems quiet today, What happened?" Ara asked curiously.
"Yes, we have some special guests at the moment, and the sound was bothering them, so I ordered to clear the entire building."
Ara wondered who those special guests were.
Lady Millicent halted her steps when they reached a door to a room, she pushed it opened before turning to the sisters, "Please come in."
The moment Ara walked inside, she was met with people she never expected to see here. She stopped in her tracks, but Anne ran past her into the room and exclaimed, "Surprise!"
