Chapter 324 - 333 Unlocking New Abilities
Chapter 324: Chapter 333 Unlocking New Abilities
Just like that, Chen Tingquan spent a blissful three hours in the game.
In these three hours, he unlocked various abilities; and although he hadn’t leveled up yet, he had acquired enough skills to deal with various emergencies in the wilderness. He cleared several monster camps and got some decent weapons and equipment; he visited a few small villages and completed some short side quests; he even managed to catch the white wolf from the promotional video and took it to a nearby stable to register it, joyfully galloping across the plains.
During the three hours of game time, Chen Tingquan also did not skimp on his praise, giving "Legend of Infinity Fantasy" a 360-degree, no-dead-angle commendation.
"This is freaking amazing, buddies, this game is freaking amazing!"
"So many aspects of this game are really imaginative; I can only say it’s like genius-level design.
"Especially the interactions between elements, it’s not that simple, the interactivity between elemental abilities, but also with elements in the map!
"For example, you can use a Flame Bomb to ignite grasslands and trees, cook the apples on the trees and the meat of wild boars, and then use the Power of Wind Element to fan the flames and burn towards the monster camp.
"Once the grass catches fire, it can automatically produce upward currents of air, at which time you can directly harness these upward currents for a stronger propulsion effect and open your Glider Wings to fly into the sky.
"Of course, sometimes you might get burned. It’s not like other games where you can roll on the ground a few times and extinguish the fire. Here, if you roll on burning grass, it will just burn more intensely, and you’ll be burned to death quickly.
"At that point, you have to find a nearby water source and directly use the Power of Water Element to extinguish the fire.
"Or you could directly use the Water Element’s ability to enlarge, carrying some water with you in advance, such as a greatsword of the Water Element. When the fire comes, you can just slash with the greatsword of the Water Element and extinguish the fire.
"However, a greatsword of the Water Element will also evaporate a bit after being burned."
"What’s especially interesting is the Time Element!
"Those general strategies like total Time Stop for infiltration are just basic. The really awesome strategy is to freeze elements in the game with Time Stop and then continuously strike to store kinetic energy!
"For example, time-stop a tree while cutting, hit it a few times, then climb on it, and you can fly far away.
"You can also throw a Boomerang, then use the Power of Wind Element to bind it and keep it flying around you. Then you time-stop a tall tree to take flight, achieving an automatic cruise mode. Any monster that flies towards you from the sky will automatically be taken down, which is extremely thrilling!
"In short, the playability of this system is just too strong. There’s nothing you can’t do, only what you can’t imagine!
"I highly suspect that the gameplay possibilities I’ve discovered are just the tip of the iceberg for this game, with much more content to come!
"Take these puzzle ruins, for instance. There are five or six in the newbie zone, which is quite small, so given the current size of the map, wouldn’t there have to be dozens of them across the entire map?
"And the system hints that some special enhancement abilities of the Power of the Elements can be unlocked, so there might be even more variety possible.
"It’s just hard to imagine how much fun the game will be in the mid-game!"
Chen Tingquan didn’t mention the later stages of the game, as the endgame is often not as fun in most games. It’s already pretty good if the game remains enjoyable in the mid-game.
Most games drive players in the endgame with numerical goals, such as acquiring a specific costume set after completing a challenge or getting graduation equipment that doesn’t offer a significant attribute boost.
After all, there’s only so much game content and so many gameplay mechanics; there are very few games that can keep people playing for hundreds of hours without getting tired of it.
In this context, for a game to still be fun and have new gameplay in the mid-game is already no small feat.
And so far, Legend of Infinity Fantasy seems to be the kind of game that can keep players hooked for a long time!
At least, the content displayed in the first three hours of gameplay could be described as "invincible."
Even Chen Tingquan felt that if this game were to enter any game awards, it would stand a good chance of competing for something like Game of the Year.
As for bugs, he hadn’t really seen many so far.
As everyone knows, this game was made using the Myriad Editor, which is still quite unstable. But the game experience has been normal up to this point, and he hadn’t seen as many bugs as in "Ascension."
This was a pleasant surprise for Chen Tingquan. It made him feel that Nitiandang must have put a lot of effort into optimizing the game engine.
Originally, Nitiandang’s games were criticized for their sluggish early gameplay experience, but as hidden mechanics were discovered, the gameplay experience improved by leaps and bounds, getting more and more enjoyable as one progressed.
Now that Nitiandang has improved on this weakness, has the early gameplay experience taken off as well?
All he could say was, invincible!
Chen Tingquan spent his beginner’s privilege period with the mindset of "praising to the skies."
...
"Alright, buddies, there’s another relic ahead—let’s go check it out!
"Hmm? This relic has special patterns on it that seem to enhance the power of the Water Element. Now we really must go!
"Next, I’ll show you what it means to be a relic harvester, a puzzle-solving prodigy!"
With his confidence inflated, Chen Tingquan walked straight into the relic.
In this game, the relics on the map also undergo slight changes in appearance. The five different Powers of the Elements each have distinct main color schemes—for example, Water Element is blue, Fire Element is red, Earth Element is yellow, Wind Element is white, and Time Element is gold.
They also have different patterns, such as water waves for the Water Element and lines of wind for the Wind Element.
These are all displayed on the relics, enabling players to discern at a glance which Power of the Elements is needed to unlock them.
Meanwhile, the architectural designs of these relic entrances vary, with some being large and others small, some looking obviously more majestic.
If it’s a small relic, then it most likely only contains some conventional rewards.
If it’s a large relic, the interior structure tends to be more complex, and upon completion, it often grants an enhancement of abilities.
The enhancement of the Power of the Elements might involve the increase of certain attribute values, gaining new abilities, or unlocking special mechanisms, such as being able to use the Time Element on monsters instead of just on scene objects after an upgrade, and so on.
At this moment, the relic Chen Tingquan saw was clearly very majestic, promising significant upgrades.
As expected, this was a Water Element relic, and the entire puzzle-solving process was quite extensive. It required the proper use of water control abilities to navigate between several rivers, unlock mechanisms, grow a shield from the scenery into a boat to sail upstream, and defeat several specific Water Element monsters.
And the reward for this relic was also quite generous: an unlocked ability to freely combine multiple items!
