When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 90 - 91: Meeting Teacher
Chapter 90: Chapter 91: Meeting Teacher
Cail went back to his own nest thinking about what he had seen from Zishi’s hotel room. The five of them were there, looking very oblivious that someone was squatting on the floor, silently listening to their conversation.
The figure wasn’t hiding. It was visible in plain sight, at least in Cail’s perspective. The person was wearing a weird bonnet that looked like a mosquito curtain.
"I wonder how he will react. Will he notice it?" Cail muttered. He infused his void energy into the mirror inside the wallet. That void energy will probably dissipate later, but if Zishi is lucky, he would discover the surprise.
"But I’m not seeing anything." He had been eavesdropping the conversation of the people inside the room. They said it was a bind artifact? Cail was not seeing anything. He was not even seeing what Zishi was mentioning before. Either something is wrong with his glasses or everything that was happening is not like what it seemed...
He went back to his room. He could have left after sensing the problem, but again, his curiosity mixed with impulsiveness started to mess with his head.
"Then you shouldn’t lament that you are lacking rest," the entity inside his bracelet said. Cail was talking to him.
"I’d still complain. Nothing is stopping me from complaining," Cail said willfully.
He was sitting on the couch, making his ’modified’ bullets that are infused with his void.
After that messy battle, his void energy increased. He reached Warden. Although it felt very unstable and still in the early stages, his capacity to absorb void energy increased.
As for any mutations that would occur, so far he wasn’t noticing something off about his void energy.
"I do have a grasp of void levels now." After seeing a lot of void users, he finally had a clear perspective about their strength.
The Tyrant seemed to be at late stage Warden, that gardener was early stages, just like Cail’s level now, very fragile and weak. Sirae was around early to middle stage Conductor.
That mad old man looked to be around early Voidlord, Cail’s basis for that was Mr Quill. That old man’s energy looked very unstable for some reason. Cail also haven’t seen him use the rumored domain... Could it be that some this is wrong with his void energy?
Of course Cail was just speculating. He is now in Early stage Warden, he still haven’t seen any mutation from his void energy. It could be that domains and other perks of this level only appears during middle stage?
"Interesting..." He should try experimenting on that.
As for now, his focus is his weapon.
He actually thought of maybe throwing knives, but to be honest, that is not his specialty and he’d probably only render the knives useless. As for axe, he had tried it before and it was very messy. He looked like a killer... Although he was, he is not planning on informing everyone.
Maybe he should bring an axe, just in case when his bullets ran out again, but he doubt it could be useful since his weakness is physical attack, he would rather keep his distance.
"Making this bullets is draining." He tossed another one inside the mark. It wasn’t just simply infusing void energy inside it, it is making sure that the void energy that he fused inside wouldn’t dissipate, and that requires a lot. A very lot of void energy.
After doing maybe three of them, his void energy emptied out. He put his gun back inside his space. "I’ll see what’s the food from the ground floor." He had seen a small snack stand there.
Walking out of the room, the one beside him is still quite. "Did they realized that another person is there?" Cail wondered. But not really his business now. He walked towards the elevator and pressed the ground floor.
As the elevator slowly went down, someone from floor 12 pressed the elevator button. The door opened. Cail who was reading manga from his phone looked up, and for the first time ever, wavered.
Same goes for the other person in front of him. The man’s eyes were sharp as he was looking at the person inside the elevator up and down.
"It’s really my student." Mr Quill concluded. His eyes narrowing, "Mr Xeren, I remembered you’re injured right? Shouldn’t you be resting instead to playing in another city."
Mr Quill stepped into the elevator. He twisted the ring in his hand and Cail felt a void energy fluctuation.
Cail’s mouth twitch, why is he so ready for an attack? Seeing your student wandering around instead of resting shouldn’t warrant such exaggeration right? Well, that’s probably the case, but if your student that got recently involve in something suspicious and the next second he was jumping up and down, you’d probably also suspect a bit.
"Plot twist, Sir! Turns out my injury doesn’t affect my ability to sit in a bus for six hours." Cail chuckled, trying to make the scene more humorous. Damn, he is not really that good when it comes to acting pitiful.
"You’re supposed to be resting." Mr Quill said once again. That was the main point. Why would someone with a broken rib wander around?
"I am resting! I’m just... resting with better scenery and slightly more street food." Cail excused. Hey, injured people should also look around right? He heard that’s good for the health.
Seeing that Mr Quill seemed to really want t pursue the matter, Cail became serious, his voice laced with helplessness, "Family matter sir. I didn’t come here to have fun, I was just joking. No need to be serious."
"My aunt needed help with something urgent, and there was no one else available. You know my mom... She’s not really the most reliable. I’ve been careful — barely moved around." Cail sighed.
Mr Quill still felt suspicious, but it’s not like he can just apprehend this kid with no evidence right? Beside, when he investigated Jael, he realized that this kid seemed to be a trouble maker. Not really connected with the void, but connected with sketchy things.
Still, Mr Quill’s occupational diseased act up, "You better get your business straight. You’re still young. You can abandon that industry if you want." He couldn’t help but lecture him a bit.
Cail smiled faltered, but just for a second, "What are you talking about sir? I have been behaving myself lately."
The elevator reached the ground floor. Mr Quill was the first to step out. "You better be, that’s for your own good." Then he waved at Cail goodbye.
Cail walked out of the elevator. He stared at the direction where Mr Quill vanished. It seemed to be the dining area?
"It looks like I better be careful. I now have another eye staring at me."
