When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 89 - 90: They Did Not Notice?
Chapter 89: Chapter 90: They Did Not Notice?
Zishi sat on the coffee table. He looked at the bodyguard that his brother hired, "I’m being targeted?" he asked in confusion. He had nothing. Why would he be targeted?
Yesell had an idea as to what was happening, "The news that your brother was injured already spread. You’re the only legitimate heir left. So a lot of people are seeing you as a thorn to their side."
Zishi felt anger. Not because he was targeted, but because a lot of people were now looking down at his brother because he was injured. "My brother— I trust him! He’ll turn things around!" He had a lot of faith in his brother who had shouldered all the struggles since they were young.
Yesell wasn’t that immersed in the family drama, "Yeah yeah yeah... But before all of that, we need to get you to safety first."
Zishi was playing with his fingers... His eyes started to dart around again. For some reason, he wasn’t as secure as before when he was in that glasses man’s room.
Yesell saw him looking very on edge. "You’re still thinking about that thing in the hall." He already knew what Zishi saw a while ago.
Suddenly Zishi flinched. He felt something press against his shoulders. He looked to his side and saw Lira hugging him, her huge breasts pressed against his arm. "Poor boy’s traumatized. You need something to ease your mind. Maybe something warm... or someone."
Seeing that Zishi looked even more terrified, Ollen felt pity. He pushed Lira away and comforted Zishi, "Aye, don’t be scared. She is just joking with you. She wanted you to relax a bit. You seemed to be very on edge."
The distraction worked. Zishi was sitting on the bed, feeling a bit calm.
Lira pouted, but her eye caught the silent Egin on the side. As if finding a next victim, she walked towards him, "Our Dear Egin. Why are you suddenly quiet?"
Egin snapped out of his daze. "Ah, nothing." He lied. For some reason, he felt a weird compelling sensation the moment he entered the other room a while ago. It was not a noticeable feeling but as someone who relied on his senses to survive, he knew that something felt off.
Whatever he was feeling, the three of them need to remain at the hotel... Because they are already marked by a binding artifact.
...
It was already deep in the night. Around 12 a.m. It’s not even night anymore as it is slowly approaching morning.
Zishi was sitting by the window, there was an unread book on his lap as no matter how much he tried to distract himself, it wasn’t working.
Lira’s lounging on the bed, legs crossed, scrolling her phone. Contrary to her, Yesell was busy organizing files on the desk and thinking about how to get out of this hotel that would drag them back in no matter what.
Ollen’s doing pushups in the corner and Egin is unusually quiet, polishing his bracelet absently.
Whatever was happening now, the crisis wasn’t bad enough that they needed to rush. The people who trapped them inside also seemed cautious. The situation now is in the middle of a stalemate. It was like, "Hey, you move first."
"Have you contacted his family?" Lira was getting bored, "Since they are prestigious. They should be able to send a void artifact to counter the bind, right? We are not rich enough for this shit." This is what she hates. Void fights should be energy fights. Don’t bring artifacts—that’s very anti-poor.
"Hey come here Zishi, let’s take a selfie... I’ll keep this a souvenir. I don’t interact with rich people daily." She reached out her hand, but it grabbed air. She looked back and she saw that Zishi was by the window. She had thought he was beside her.
"They will send." Yesell remembered what he had talked about with the butler a while ago, "But something was wrong with the transmission gate. They’ll probably arrive tomorrow noon." The other side is an independent realm, separated from the normal world.
Lira rolled over the bed, "So we just stay here?"
That seemed to be the case.
Ollen felt sweaty, "Can you pass me the towel?"
Yesell rolled his eyes. "There’s no one near you to pass the towel, grab that yourself and stop being lazy."
"Huff." Ollen felt exhausted. "I thought you’re here." He walked towards the towel and wiped his sweat.
"Excuses." Yesell muttered under his breath.
Everyone was just doing their thing peacefully.
Then there was a knock on the door. As usual, Zishi was acting like he just heard a bomb detonate. He was now very sensitive towards knocks. "Who’s that?"
Ollen stopped his push-ups. He walked towards the door and opened it without fear. Of course, his sense of safety was tied to the weapon that he had on his belt.
Outside was a scholarly looking young man. His hair seemed a bit long. Not long enough to draw attention but long enough to cover his eyes until his nose bridge if he wanted to. His front hair was pulled into a slick back hairstyle. Seeing an intimidating looking man opening the door, his eyes flashed with a bit of surprise.
"I’m the man from the previous room before... Is his wallet missing?" The scholarly young man took out a brown leather wallet from his pockets.
Hearing that voice, Zishi felt a bit energetic. He walked towards the door, pushing Ollen aside, he smiled, "You’re here!" Then looking at the wallet, he patted his pockets and realized it was missing. He grabbed it. "Thank you very much. I didn’t realize it was missing."
Cail who was standing outside the door smiled. Of course you wouldn’t realize. I stole it. Not because of money, but hey... I guess it was occupational habit. It’s good to always have a thread that you can connect to people whenever you like. Here, the wallet is the thread. A excuse.
Zishi seemed to be having that chick imprint behavior, after Cail saved him, he got an inexplicable trust with the man. Of course, considering that they seemed to look the same age also helped. He couldn’t help but ask, "So, how long are you staying here?"
"I’ll be staying here until tomorrow." Cail said, still having that smile.
What’s up with the change of image? Well, Cail got bored in his hotel room and he noticed a familiar face among the bodyguards. It was his first client.
After seeing that Virehn, Cail realized that his face seemed to have the potential to be the ’scholarly type’ with just a bit of styling, he looked harmless enough. His previous hairstyles, although not the emo type of covering his face, was a parted bangs on his forehead, not really showcasing his full looks.
When Lira heard that someone’s outside, she peeked out of curiosity. Seeing Cail, she sized him up and down. "You always deliver lost things personally? I didn’t know you’re the warm type after seeing you ignore us before."
Cail wasn’t fazed. Making excuses is his specialty, especially knowing his fickleness, "I didn’t hear it. I guess I was asleep."
His eyes scanned the room, then stopping at Egin. "Anyway, just thought I’d return the wallet. Hope the rest of your stay’s quiet."
Then Cail left without a fuss. The moment the door closed, he was slowly walking back to his room, thinking...
Did they not realize there was a sixth person in the room?
