When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 115 - 116: Who’s The Plunderer
Chapter 115: Chapter 116: Who’s The Plunderer
"The gatherings of artifact selling. In the other world, we call that the Gold Pot. Basically, that is where you could buy artifacts, but the majority of them are scams and traps to kill unwitting victims," the old man said, not blinking an eye even though he was describing their group.
"They are open during artifact season. It is located in the slums near here. It is the connection between the other world and this ordinary realm. Even void users that are stationed in this realm can attend the event."
Cail wondered if it could also be a passage to the other world. So he asked what was on his mind, "Can we enter the other world through the Gold Pot?"
Hearing that, the old man laughed. "My boy, entering the other world is not easy. The security is strict and every portal is heavily guarded. If it was that easy to enter, then the registration wouldn’t exist."
"So how can we enter the other world? Also, the Golden Pot—do you also need some kind of invitation or ticket to attend that event?" Cail was a bit curious about what was going on on the other side.
"To enter the other world is the same as getting citizenship. You can marry a void user there, be born there, have a parent that lived there, or have merit and let the VRA grant you a card," the old man said. A lot of void users dreamed of staying there, but none of them had been able to.
Hearing the ways, Cail thought deeply. Better marry a void user. But he wasn’t at the age of legality yet, so that was out of the question... But murdering a guard—that should also be possible, right?
The old man was unaware of what was going on in Cail’s mind, so he continued, "I have a token here for the Golden Pot." He grabbed something from his pocket and tossed it at Cail. "That is a token for a seller." He didn’t mind giving it to Cail to gain his trust since it’d come back to him after looting this helmet guy.
Cail managed to grab the golden token. He could sense the void energy inside. Ninety percent chance that it was a real token, but even if it wasn’t, then he could just strip that old man after killing him.
Yeah, Cail also planned on looting them. Why? Is there a rule not to? Ahem, it seems that there is, but who cares?
He pocketed the token. His aura radiated excitement. It wasn’t false—he was truly excited about what it was.
"Thank you. How about we continue the deal now?" Cail wanted this over. He wanted to explore and play with the token before artifact season, which the old man said was tomorrow. He better not be lying.
...
The three of them went out and found a secluded corner near the slum. The thin man was getting impatient. "This is secluded now. Where are the artifacts?"
"Don’t rush. I’ll give them to you guys," said Cail. He had never seen anyone that excited about their death.
After finding the spot that he had prepared, Cail finally stopped. He looked at the two and opened his bag. The reason why they did not look inside was because most artifact dealers had special containers that only they could open.
It was expensive, but based on the artifacts that they had seen, it was obvious that the helmet man’s predecessor was a strong artifact dealer to manage to secure those S-class artifacts.
The two of them waited impatiently as Cail rummaged through the bag. But after a few minutes, it seemed absurd that he wasn’t done grabbing the artifact yet. Based on what they remembered, he seemed to take out the artifact with ease before.
"Child?" The old man felt ominous. He looked at Cail, and his hand that was gripping the cane tightened.
"Yes?" Admittedly, Cail was just being a pain in the ass now. But since the two of them were excited, he finally made his move.
A rifle appeared in his hand. Instead of shooting them, he smashed the rifle on the thin man’s head, then on the old man.
The two of them were taken aback. They both fell to the ground. The old man mobilized his void energy only to realize that it seemed to be suppressed by something.
"What did you do to me?" His eyes filled with anger as he looked at Cail.
"I did something, alright." Cail didn’t say what he did. But he wasn’t just warming their seats when he arrived early. He had already infused everything in that area with his void energy so that it would be easy to slowly infect these guys.
Him letting them share the information wasn’t just because he wanted to know immediately, but because he was buying time—waiting for his void energy to penetrate their core.
The old man and the thin guy realized that they had fallen into a trap. Actually, it was easy to guess so. Deorc and they were not really on good terms. It’s just that they were blinded by greed and anxiety for the upcoming event.
Deorc, on the other hand, had no burden telling them the information. He knew that the dealer was crazy. He also knew that he wasn’t some hapless newbie.
Heck, he even made Cail’s image gentler to these guys, saying that he was a pitiful guy and easy to scam. Behind their backs, he was smiling and gloating. If possible, he would have wanted to see the show.
Cail knew that Deorc probably used him to kill his enemies, but he didn’t mind. Well, maybe he did mind, but as for now, he was in a good mood because of this harvest.
"You—why are you doing this to us? We just want a clear transaction. We never wanted to harm you." The old man was sly. He was quick to make an excuse because so far, they hadn’t shown any ill intent yet. Maybe they could still salvage this.
Cail wasn’t in the mood to talk about morality. He lifted his rifle to the old man’s head and just said, "Yeah, I don’t care if you guys have malicious intentions or not—because I do. I wanted to murder and loot you guys from the very start."
And with that, he didn’t want to bother them anymore and pulled the trigger.
