When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?!
Chapter 114 - 115: Plunderers

Chapter 114: Chapter 115: Plunderers

It’s already noon. After school ended, Cail waved goodbye to his friends and walked out of the school. No, he is not going home yet. He’ll first meet with that strange buyer who texted him.

He found a secluded spot to wear a helmet and change his clothes. After making sure that he was unidentifiable, Cail nodded and drove off on his motorcycle (inside the space).

The time of their meeting was still far. But just like what he did with Deorc, Cail planned to prepare in advance. The wind felt fresh—it was no longer the rainy season.

While driving toward the meeting location, he noticed many people around. He managed to find a quiet spot under a CCTV camera blind spot.

After making his preparations, he walked around. He heard that there seemed to be another auction going on—it was in the deeper parts of the slum. If he wasn’t too injured after this confrontation, he’d check out what was going on there.

...

"Are you sure that man will come?" a small, skinny guy said. He sat on a chair and ordered a glass of water.

In front of him was an old man, probably in his seventies. His sleepy eyes looked at the customers coming in and out of the building. None of them looked like the target. Deorc had described the man as wearing a helmet.

Yes, they were not here for a transaction, but to plunder. They were thieves who specifically targeted artifact dealers. The artifact season was now here, yet they still hadn’t found anything worthwhile to show at the auction on the other side. They needed to find something now.

What is artifact season? It sounds similar to harvest season. But to be honest, there isn’t much difference. It is an event where sellers showcase their artifacts. It’s good for business and also for void users. That is a day to earn money.

Buzz Buzz

The phone vibrated. The thin man picked it up and opened the message.

An: I’m here. Have you guys arrived?

The thin man replied, "Yes, we’re here. Where are you?"

An: Oh, I see you. I’m coming.

The thin man lifted the phone and said to the old man, "He said he’s here."

While the two of them waited, the thin man couldn’t help but say, "Are you sure this man is okay? The last dealer we encountered was bonkers. We almost burned to death with him."

Yes, artifact dealers are usually sick in the head, so the thin man had his reservations.

"It’s fine. We won’t attack him immediately. He seems like a new guy, so he probably isn’t as insane as the others." The old man had been in this industry for many years. He was confident that with his experience, he could defeat anyone, no matter how crazy they were.

Finally, the thin man’s eyes glowed when he saw a man wearing a helmet walking toward them. He flashed what he thought was a friendly smile and waved his hand. "We’re here."

The helmeted man walked toward them. He sat in the empty chair beside the thin man and looked at the old guy who seemed to be the head of the operation. "Let’s get straight to the point. I’ll sell you the artifact, and you’ll show me how this works." Cail hadn’t forgotten his identity.

The thin man looked at him. "Don’t be anxious, brother. Let’s talk for a bit. Why did you choose this place? A lot of civilians—it’s not suitable for dealings."

"Caution," the helmeted man said. "I don’t know any of you. I’m a newbie, not an idiot."

With his face full of wrinkles, the old man looked at him and smiled. "That’s the spirit, my boy. No need to be so on guard. We’re here for the artifact and also to form a partnership."

His face looked gentle, at least to the average eye. But to Cail, he looked like dried resin. He tried to hold back his thoughts. "Deal later... but first, tell me how you can help me?"

It was time for the thin man’s job. He glanced at the old man out of the corner of his eye. "Brother, hahahaha. Why don’t we go out to breathe some fresh air?"

The helmeted man looked at the thin man for a good 15 seconds. It wasn’t short nor long, but it was enough to make the thin man uncomfortable. Finally, the man under the helmet agreed. "Okay."

Just as he was about to stand, the old man tapped the table. "Don’t be hasty, young man. Why don’t you show me the artifacts first?" It was better to know whether the artifacts he brought were worth the trouble. Murdering people for a meager sum of useless scrap was annoying.

Cail sat back down. He was smiling widely under his helmet. Of course, he had prepared some items to make himself look more tempting to these malicious people.

He looked at the two of them. His breath started to quicken. His head turned, scanning for suspicious people. He seemed to come to a hard decision. "I’ll show you," he said, his voice taut.

He opened the backpack he was carrying and took out a mix of jewelry. The moment the two plunderers sensed the void energy from the artifacts, their eyes shone with greed.

This—this level of artifact was not something they could imagine a newbie dealer having.

They had expected the highest to be B-class. Unexpectedly, what the man brought were all S-class artifacts!

The helmeted man looked awkward at their reaction. "I—is something wrong? These are the most valuable items from my father’s collection..."

"It’s okay!" the thin man said excitedly before the old man stepped on his foot. Feeling the pain, he reined in his emotion and tried to act nonchalant. "Although it’s a bit low, we will buy it."

When he was about to touch the artifact, the helmeted man slapped his hand. "No touching. First, tell me your information, and then we’ll change locations for the deal."

The old man was satisfied with today’s harvest. Although they hadn’t stolen the artifacts yet, he was already thinking of them as his. "Sure, young man. I’ll tell you what you want."

Cail, under the helmet, was basically beaming. These suckers really are goodies.
