Chapter 85: Heart Wrenching Story
Chapter 85: Heart Wrenching Story
There is a giant in the folklore of the Eresian, called the Giants of the Outyard. It is described as incredibly intimidating and awe-inspiring.
When the Gods arrives at the area of the giant to challenge him in a battle of strength, they finally see the Giant and his immense stature.
His size is so immense that the gods feel insignificant in his presence.
To him this is something new and something interesting.
Following the gift exchange, the couple partake in a ritual known as the "Hadag Ceremony."
They would offer white silk scarves, called Hadags, to each other as a symbol of purity, respect, and good fortune.
This act signify the mutual respect and support they promised to uphold throughout their married life.
In the spirit of celebration, the entire tribe gathered together to indulge in a grand feast. The feast was a reflection of the abundance and generosity of the Marynku people.
Aeryon, with the resources he had acquired through his magical system, generously provided an abundance of meat
Aeryon believe that this has something to do with the diet of his people
Since most of the tribes is the Steppe eat meat, the system always awarded him meat. He opens his storehouse and give wine and meat unreservedly.
The storehouse was opened, and platters filled with succulent meats were laid out for all to enjoy.
Roasted meats, even though it was not seasoned to perfection, adorned the tables, tempting the taste buds of those present.
Aeryon did get salts from one of the stash of the Xewa and Ghar tribe and while he could not give unreservedly to all of his tribe members, he did open up and give the respected guest some salt to spice up their roasted meat
There is also butter.
Butter was a staple Marynku food, though it is often boiled in a leather pouch, rather than salted to improve its shelf life.
Yogurt would also be made from the milk, as would dried milk curds, called ’Kuruts’ by the Marynku. Cheese could also be made by drying it naturally in the wind and sun.
The fragrance of sizzling meat filled the air, accompanied by the rich aroma of freshly baked bread.
There is also wheat resources card he got. And he taught a few dozen women on how to bake.
Baking is something that is very foreign to the people of the Steppe.
As nomads, the Marynku didn’t have ovens, so they couldn’t make bread. Since they didn’t farm, they also didn’t have many vegetables.
What they had was what they could find on the steppes. Wild onions and garlic were avidly sought after and used both as food and medicine.
However, they gained access to some of Yan food such as rice and flour.
Which could be used to make noodles and quick breads. The Marynku also began to use some spices, although in general their foods were hearty, but bland.
Wine flowed freely, poured into cups and shared among the revellers.
It was a feast full of camaraderie and celebration, as glasses were raised in toasts to him and the prosperous future that lay ahead.
With an alliance, the standing of the tribe becomes higher and more secure. These are the thoughts of the common people that is under the tribe
Laughter and lively conversations resonated throughout the gathering, creating an atmosphere of warmth and unity.
Musicians and performers entertained the crowd, their melodies and rhythmic beats infusing the air with an infectious energy.
Musical instruments filled the air with vibrant tunes, prompting guests to join in dances and celebrations.
The rhythm of the drums matched the pounding of hearts
All in all, it was a festive day yesterday and even from the area of his tent he could still see the traces of the feast yesterday and he could not help but smile.
The tense atmosphere of the tribe was loosened yesterday and it is good. There is time for war and there is time for rest.
Aeryon shakes his head a bit when he remembered something about yesterday
"Belarion drink much yesterday, but it took him a few hundred wine jars before he get drunk. What kind of monster is he?" he thought to himself
Belarion did challenge him to drinking but Aeryon, the wise men he is, how could he accept a challenge where he knew he would lose?
There is something else he seems to have learned about Belarion. This sworn brother of his like drinking too much
And he likes feast.
Not that he doesn’t like it. But he clearly does not like it as much as Belarion does.
He just shakes his head, shaking off the memory of yesterday.
Aeryon observed the traces of construction near his tent and contemplated the changes that were taking place.
"My tent would become bigger" he thought to himself. Though that is only appropriate, he thought again.
Ayera today would be transporting her belonging to his tent. This signify her transition into his household.
His tent was being expanded to accommodate Ayera, marking her official transition into his household.
It was only fitting that their living space grew to accommodate their new life together.
In the customs of many families, Ayera would have been accompanied by her family and the women of her tribe on her journey to Aeryon tent.
They would have assisted her in settling into her new home, offering guidance and support.
However, Aeryon and Ayera were not part of an ordinary family.
Ayera family remained in the Utgard tribe, and while she did have maidservants who would join her later, for now, she was under the protection of a hundred horse riders from Utgard.
These guards were assigned to ensure her safety and well-being during her transition into her new life.
As time passed, the number of guards would gradually decrease, as their role in protecting Ayera would diminish after the initial period.
The decision to assign such a significant number of guards was an indication to Aeryon that Garron’s concern for his daughter’s well-being is real
Garron probably wanted to ensure that Ayera would have the necessary protection and support as she embarked on this new Chapter of her life.
Aeryon’ heart swelled with a sense of novelty and contradiction.
’Haish" he sighed
In his previous life as James, marriage had never been a consideration for him.
It had always seemed like an elusive concept, distant. In his time, lifespan is long. And nobody around him marry that young. But in this world, twenty is already old for men and women.
In this new world as Aeryon, he had not only become a skilled warrior and leader but was now embarking on the path of marriage.
All the things he never done in his other life, all the things he never thought he would do, he had done everything
And he had learned something new when he was undergoing that marriage yesterday
The marriage of the Marynku emphasize unity, respect, and celebration. He wonders whether he and Ayera could really be like that
"Maybe, because it is steeped in ritual, I felt the need to fulfil these obligations" he thought to himself
The union between Aeryon and Ayera was more than a simple joining of two individuals; it held the potential to unite their tribes and forge a powerful alliance.
However, beneath the surface of celebration and unity, Aeryon sensed hidden intentions and veiled agendas.
This is not the concern of his people for they only celebrate feeling that the tribe is secure. They do not understand the worries that he have. And neither should they
It is his job to worry about these things.
He was acutely aware that Ayera had her own motives, just as her father, Garron, had his schemes and machinations.
And Aeryon also has his own scheme. The meeting and alliance that is forged would surely break down someday in the future.
This is something he is very sure
"After all, my ambition is bigger. Sooner or later, we would clash. When that day happens, what should I do with her? And what would she do to me?" he thought
Aeryon own ambitions burned brightly within him, driving him to pursue grander goals that surpassed mere alliances.
He knew that eventually, the meeting of their ambitions would lead to a clash, a battle of power and dominance.
The question lingered in his mind: When that fateful day arrived, what would he do with Ayera?
And what would she do to him?
The complexities of their relationship weighed heavily upon him as he considered the possibilities and repercussions.
Aeryon understood that beneath the surface of unity and respect, there existed a delicate balance of trust and betrayal.
He had learned through his experiences in this world that appearances could be deceiving, and alliances could crumble with the slightest shift in circumstance.
In his world, he is quite the pacifistic man. This world however is full of enemies. He saw how Garron manipulated the Xewa tribe and manage to break the shackle and is now expanding his tribe
He never underestimated the cunningness of someone who is called a Viper.
And he knew that while the Steppe honour alliances, they also could break because of simple things.
And the more he thought about it, the more he sighed. The ebbs and flows of human destiny.....is always this heart wrenching.
"If I don’t have feelings and she doesn’t have feeling.....it would not be heart wrenching" he thought to himself.
"At least when she is here, when she is my wife, I should protect her" Aeryon decided that when Ayera move to his tent, they should have a heart-to-heart conversation.
And then he would decide what he should do.
He look into the distance and with the fog in the morning it is hard to see, but he could see the silhouette of his wife tent.
It would take some time before Ayera would move to his tent.
