Way of Overlord
Chapter 60: Weight of Destiny

Chapter 60: Weight of Destiny

He sighed inwardly

"The entire Great Steppe?" he thought in his mind. In the Southern Great Steppe alone there is dozens of tribes and hundred of small tribes and clans all over.

How many people that have tried to unify even one part of the Steppe and how many have succeeded. In the last few hundred years, there was only a few.

And that is speaking about only one direction of the Great Steppe. But the entire Great Steppe?

It is fine to aim high.

But don’t aim impossible goals. Looking at his nephew, it doesn’t seem that he is joking. He truly wanted to campaign all over the Great Steppe.

Rukari is not interested in a pipe dream. A dream like this could easy shove their tribe into a path of no return.

What he doesn’t say was that if one day, Aeryon really managed to unite the entire Southern Great Steppe, and truly decided to cast his gaze to the other three direction of the Great Steppe, then that is really a path of no return.

If the tribe becomes that big and that powerful, when the concentrated forces of all the tribes of all three direction of the Steppe bear down on the Brolgadhr tribe, and if they lose, this time, there would be no lucky escape.

At that time, to make sure that the tribe could, never have the chance to rise again, those tribes would never let any of the people of the tribe go.

He sighed; his head is having a headache.

No one wanted to support Aeryon more than him. They are family. How could he as his uncle do not want to support him?

Of course, he wanted to.

But this.... this relates to the safety of the entire tribe Rakarys might not be as brave or as strong as his son, but he still manages to keep the tribe surviving.

Aeryon might be more powerful and brave than his father, but there is a great chance that trait is what would push this tribe to the path of no return.

So, he could not back Aeryon. Not until he could convince him. Convince him that he could truly conquer the Great Steppe.

"I am not convinced" he repeated. But he did not go out of the tent. He was waiting. And Aeryon also knows what he waits for

Aeryon sit back down and then he gestures to his uncle to sit back down

But Rukari still stands.

"You are not convinced. Then let me tell you, my plan. Then I believe that you would be convinced"

Rukari hesitated, close his eye and takes a deep breath. Opening his eyes, he nodded and then he sat back down.

Outside the night becomes deeper and it has passed midnight

the three men came out from the tent. And they all ride their horses back to their tent; all have their own thoughts and calculation.

For Belarion, his mind is filled with ideas of adventure. From the moment he fought those people a certain instinct was born in him.

And from the plans that is laid out from his brother, the tribe would become bigger. Now, that he knew what his sworn brother is planning to do, he no longer has any worries

Mayeux rides his horse and when he return home, he could not help but laugh

An ambitious ruler.

That is what he wanted. Because only under such ruler that he could verify whether what his father and grandfather taught him have any merits.

"It is a great plan. I could go behind that" he muttered to himself.

Rukari rides his horse back to his tent, his expression does not show anything. Was he convinced? Or was he not?

People that live in the Great Steppe is shaped by the Great Steppe.

Each and every man and every woman who lives in the Great Steppe influenced the Great Steppe and they in turn is also shaped and influenced by the Great Steppe.

Indeed, the Great Steppe is a land of unforgiving hardship, where the elements and the environment shape its inhabitants in profound ways.

The people who call the Great Steppe their home is intimately connected to its rugged landscape and formidable challenges.

The constant struggle for survival in this harsh environment has forged them into resilient and formidable individuals.

The men of the Great Steppe are renowned for their hunting and warrior skills.

They have learned to navigate the vast expanse of the Steppe, mastering the art of tracking and capturing elusive prey.

Their ability to ride horses with unparalleled expertise is unmatched, as they have tamed these majestic creatures, turning them into powerful companions and tools of conquest.

The women of the Great Steppe, too, have grown strong and hardy.

They have learned to endure the harsh conditions, braving extreme temperatures and adapting to the demanding lifestyle.

They contribute to the tribe’s survival by taking on vital roles in gathering resources, tending to livestock, and nurturing their families.

Their resilience and resourcefulness make them an essential pillar of the community.

The wildlife of the Great Steppe mirrors the untamed spirit of the land itself.

Horses roam freely, their strength and speed akin to mythical creatures, while birds of prey soar through the sky, embodying both grace and ferocity.

The winds that sweep across the Steppe are relentless and chilling, testing the endurance of those who venture into its vastness.

Life in the Great Steppe is a constant battle against the elements, where the inhabitants must adapt and overcome to thrive.

They draw strength from the land and its challenges, becoming hardened warriors and tenacious survivors.

Through their shared experiences and collective resilience, they shape the very fabric of the Great Steppe, creating a legacy of endurance and indomitable spirit.

The Great Steppe has one theme and that theme is hardship.

And for thousands of years the people of the Steppe took this hardship and melded with it and as they shape the history of the Steppe, the Steppe moulded them

But it never had broken out of its shell. However, that night, the shell crack. And the potential of the Great Steppe is about to break out

That night a grand plan was formed.

A strategy was laid out.

Three men were summoned and three men bear witness to the declaration of a young man inside that tent.

One of those men would follow anything that person said.

This man is Belarion.

The other one has his eye shining bright, thinking of a fame of a thousand years.

This man is Mayeux who will surely craft strategy so that the plan of that man would succeed

And another is an old man, thinking of the safety of the tribe. This man is the Elder of the Brolgadhr tribe, Rukari.

Little did they know that their conversation that night would transcend the confines of the tent and ripple through the annals of history.

The plans and strategies discussed would shape the course of events for generations to come.

Historians would pore over their words, dissecting the intentions and outcomes, debating the impact of their actions on the fate of the Great Steppe.

On that night, the young man’s declaration reverberated with the weight of destiny.

The potential of the Great Steppe, long confined within its shell, was about to break free.

With unity, determination, and the shared vision of these three men, a grand plan was formed, a strategy laid out, and the course of history is about to be forever altered on the Great Steppe.

......

The morning sun bathed the Great Steppe in its golden glow, signalling the start of a new day.

The heat is just right, not to cold and not too hot.

Aeryon, as was his routine, rose from his sleep with a sense of purpose. He swiftly prepared himself for the day ahead, donning his garments and securing his weapons with practiced efficiency.

Stepping out into the bustling training ground, Aeryon observed his fellow tribesmen engaged in various forms of physical exercise and combat drills.

He exchanged greetings and brief conversations with his companions, ensuring that everything was in order and that each person was prepared for the challenges that lay ahead.

As he rides his horse around the settlement his thought turned toward Ayera.

"Hahaha!" he laughed. He was reminded of this woman who had such much gust that she tries to kill him.

"Garron, I know she is sent by you to plot and scheme against me" Aeryon is a cautious man but he also had that spirit of challenging things.

Without such trait, he would not have the ambition to conquer the entire Great Steppe.

If he is only a cautious man, he would probably be satisfied with the Southern Great Steppe, creating a large tribe, marry a lot of women, live in the prosperity of many livestock and die a happy man in these troubled times

But he is cautious but not timid.

There is a certain heroic charm to him.

James know that this is because he melded with the original Aeryon. He is James and he is Aeryon and as days passes it became harder to separate which is his feeling and which is Aeryon.

And he very much wanted to challenge this woman. She has a certain presence that is very captivating.

And so, he could not help but laughed.

He could guess that Garron would not come to simply send his daughter to him.

"Maybe a Black Widow? Or is it the beauty trap? Whatever it is, I wanted to see whether you could do it"
