Chapter 47: Old Memories
Chapter 47: Old Memories
"What are you planning?" Belarion muttered under his breath, his voice carried away by the wind.
"I could not help you if I don’t know how to help you" he muttered while sighing
Lost in a mix of curiosity and concern, Belarion found himself lost in thought
Which rarely never happens to him
He thought back to the days when he was a child. A simpler days.
Belarion, even as a child, possessed an extraordinary physical prowess that set him apart from his peers.
From a young age, he displayed unmatched strength and power, making it clear that he was destined for greatness on the battlefield.
Growing up in the Brolgadhr tribe, he was known as a courageous child, brimming with the spirit of a tiger and a temper to match.
As a child, Belarion often found himself at the center of attention
He himself like the admiration of those people around him. When he returns victorious, he heard the cheers of his tribesmen and he could not be happier.
He always relished in his physical abilities, taking pleasure in showcasing his strength and skill to his tribe.
Despite his simple nature, he had an instinctive reaction to battle, which became apparent whenever he engaged in any form of conflict or competition.
even Belarion notices this about himself.
What he is lacking knowledge about is the world.
This did not mean that Belarion did not know himself.
Instead, because he focused on himself than the rest of the surroundings, he knows himself better than anyone
He knows the things he could do, and he knows the things he could not do.
He did not care much about his surroundings so he lacks knowledge about them. This makes people think that he is stupid.
He knows he has a simple nature. This is simply because there was never a need for his nature to be hard.
Living in a tribe like Brolgadhr that did not put any responsibility to him is like paradise to him.
He knows how others of the same kind like him, those born with innate strength, how they are treated in other tribes.
But Rakarys, Aeryon father had never imposed any kind of responsibilities upon him.
If he wants to take that responsibility, Rakarys would allow it but he wouldn’t force it.
Some Elders always thinks that Rakarys is too kind and it was that kindness that made him end up being killed by Xeqani.
But it is because of that kindness that Belarion did not leave the tribe to join other tribes.
It is because of that kindness, Belarion swore to himself that he would protect Aeryon, the Son of Rakarys.
Kindness does not do a lot of thing.
But everything has a value. And it was because of that kindness that led Belarion to b wholly loyal to this tribe.
And then he forms a bond with his sworn brother.
They could considered cousin far removed with each other but because they play with each other when they were children, Aeryon became a vital part of his childhood.
Aeryon is calmer than him.
He is also more thoughtful. This complemented Belarion nature. It is because he was with Aeryon that he could maintain such a simple nature.
Belarion smiles a bit and laughed suddenly. He remembered some old memories. An adventure they tell themselves.
And they embarked on numerous adventures, whether it was hunting condors or racing through the plains on their horses.
Belarion admired and followed Aeryon, participating in any ruckus that his sworn brother concocted.
Belarion still remembers when he fought against the Wusun tribe
their tribe was attacked by the Wusun tribe.
He learned that one of his friends had been injured in the raid, and his fiery temperament ignited.
Fueled by rage and a burning desire for revenge, he approached Aeryon and implored him to join forces in a retaliatory raid against the Wusun tribe.
Aeryon did not hesitate to follow him
With their weapons in hand and mounted on their horses, the determined duo rode out to confront the enemy tribe head-on.
It was during this battle that Belarion feel this true nature as an instinctual warrior began to emerge.
He remembers that during the heat of battle, he exhibited an uncanny ability to intuitively discern the best course of action.
His instincts guided him, enabling him to make split-second decisions on where to attack and when to defend.
It was as if he was blessed by the God of War himself.
Belarion knows himself.
While his strength earned him the admiration of his fellow tribesmen, his impulsive nature and unpredictable temper also evoked fear and unease.
He became both revered and resented, with some viewing him as a force to be admired and others as a potential threat.
There were times when the Elders have dark machinations for him and he knows about it.
Aeryon father however had always sheltered him so that he would never be exploited by the tribe.
And with Aeryon beside him, the tribe accepted him even with his sometimes impulsive and violent nature flaring up
In the years after, the tribe did not engage in any large-scale battle and the old die, the young die and the tribe become smaller and with the death of Rakarys, it seems that the tribe is on the verge of disbanding.
But a few days ago, a battle was fought and victory followed Belarion.
Now, the reputation that he has as harmless oaf has changed to a fearsome warrior. Because of his restrain, he rarely shows his innate strength. But during the battle, he had showed it all.
And the warriors of the Brolgadhr tribe witnessed his true potential and today, Belarion commands awe and respect in the tribe
But.... but.... somehow, Belarion like it better when the tribesmen think of him as that harmless oaf.
Belarion is simple.
But not stupid.
He could think....and now he is thinking
The wind of the Steppe blows gently.
And he sighed
There are complicated feelings in his heart and his mind has many thoughts.
The feeling he had is a feeling he never had before.
Conflicting emotions, this is something new to him
And as for his mind....it is confused.
This is the first time; he tries to think of something complicated other than what to eat and when he could play
To him, all of this is torturing. But if Aeryon could see Belarion right now, rubbing his forehead like he is going to make a fire, he would laugh but also feel proud.
Because Belarion is growing
And in such an era, he should. He should grow and be stronger
Because if you are weak, this world will not be merciful at all. It would not give you a break.
Belarion sighed and then he rides back to the tribe

Ayera went to the Brolgadhr tribe and met with the Elders.
The Elders knows the intention of the Utgard totally themselves in the form of marriage
They are very much welcome to the idea
But the Elders did not want to overstepped their power. It’s different if Aeryon is only their relative.
However, he is also the chief.
So, the matter is not as simple as the Elders going to Aeryon and ask him to accept her hand.
If they seem to be too insistent, it might seem like they are coercing the Chief.
In other tribes, such thing could easily happen. But not in this tribe. All of the Elders of the tribe of Brolgadhr had some sort of kinship with Aeryon.
And after the victory Aeryon is no longer just a chief that needs the protection and influence of the Chief to convince the tribe
Before, when Aeryon gives his order to go to Northshire, if not for the fact that the Elders back him up, most of the tribesmen would not agree to go.
It is clear then that Aeryon still needed the Elders to make the people of the tribe follows his orders.
Now, he is the Sun at the highest peak in the tribe. The victory brought confidence. And the confidence brought power
As for the new Elders, they are the former chief of the conquered tribe. It is good enough that they were spared and their people were not slaughtered
They would not stick out their neck out for a woman they do not know.
She knew then that she still needs to meet the young chief.
She had met many people. Some are the people that the Brolgadhr tribe had conquered.
And some are the people of the Brolgadhr tribe himself. She is trying to make people familiar with her, gaining sympathy and gaining trust
But there is another reason why she always come to the settlements and talks with all of these people
Because she wanted to know more about this man, her father worries so much about
She is smart and knows how to ask question.
And the more question she asked, the more she seems to know about this young man
And so, an image formed of the young chief in her mind.
She had seen him once. When she came to the settlements of the Brolgadhr a day ago, she glimpses the appearance of the young chief.
Just like how people describe him, he looks very heroic and his demeanor is very commanding.
Or maybe it is the afterglow of victory that made him appear like that
"I am very much curious about this man" she muttered under her breath
