Chapter 344: Domination of the Southern Great Steppe
He only has ten point.
When he looks at the System shop and compare the points he has, he feels like crying.
when he opens the new System Shop, there is all kinds of dazzling skills.
Passive and active. All kinds of skills and abilities
But the more powerful it is, the more absurd the Destiny Points that is needed. And most of them are locked behind the era.
That is what he notice.
There is no guns or an AK47 he could buy.
If he has even one of this, he could conquer the world.
And there is also some magic spell but it is also locked. Probably because the Age of heroes and Magic had passed.
From what he understood, the world also did not have that much mana in it.
Even if it had, it would not reach the level of the past where the mages are truly like gods and deities.
And Aeryon had also chosen his quest
"Open quest window"
The moment he thought of this a window popped up in front of him
He already choose one of the most promising quest that he could do among the many list of quest he could do.
Quest: Domination of the Southern Great Steppe
The Southern Great Steppe is a vast, resource-rich land inhabited by fierce nomadic tribes. Gaining control over this region will significantly boost your resources and strategic positioning, increase your fame and power and get you closer to uniting the tribes of the Great Steppe.
However, failure to dominate the Steppe could embolden your enemies and weaken your standing and might leads to your destruction.
Certain steps when taken forward, you could no longer turn back.
Objectives:
Unite the tribes of the Southern Great Steppe. You could use diplomatic effort to persuade, use strength to coherence, or use force to conquer the tribes of the Southern Great Steppe to join your cause.
Success Condition: Form alliances with at least three out of the five major tribes. Or conquer them.
Whatever the method you choose, as long as they submit to you, it would be considered a success
Secure all the key resources around the Southern Great Steppe. Hold vital resource nodes (gold mines, fertile lands, water sources).
Control at least 65 percent of the key resource locations.
Defeat the warlords, the chiefs and take down any powerful rulers that stand in your way to unite the Southern Great Steppe.
Occupy their stronghold and settlements.
Establish governance by building and fortifying a regional capital to ensure sustained control. The success condition of this is to construct a fortified city and deploy sufficient troops to maintain order
Reward For Success
Resources Boost in the Territory
Gold would be increased.
One thousand units of food
Four thousand units of building materials.
Destiny Points would be given according to the completion degree and the way you solve the quest.
Item Rewards
Banner of the Warlord : Increase troop morale by fifteen percent when in battles. Grant you five strength temporary point during battle
................
Failure Condition
The tribe is destroyed.
The Southern Great Steppe is not unified by you.
........
This is the quest he chooses
And at the last moment, the quest window ask whether he wanted to accept the quest.
Aeryon nodded and the quest is accepted.
By now Aeryon did not hesitate to much
The one thing he likes about the current quest system is that the quest become more aligned with his ambition
It is like the system adjusted it to his desire. Or at least that is what he thought. And of course, Aeryon sometimes wonder whether these system is really just a simple system.
After all, that memories that he had seen before....he is quiet sure that is his memories. And if that is his memories, then he must ask himself, who is he really?
What are those memories? Is there still more information about himself?
Aeryon himself did not get any hints on how to access these memories.
But Aeryon had a feeling that the more Will he collected, the more information and memories about himself would be unveiled
Because while he did get the Will of the Steppe in that cave, Aeryon also knows it is just a fragment of the real Will of the Steppe.
The Will of the Steppe is not some kind of tangible things.
It is like an accumulation of desires and wishes.
The best way for the Will of the Steppe to be whole again is to unite or pacify the Steppe.
It could be done through force or diplomacy.
But clearly talking would not bear any effort.
Would anyone believe him if he said to the chief to surrender to him because he wanted to pacify the Steppe so that he could protect the people of the Steppe from the massacre of Yan people?
Would anyone would give him their warriors and their power to him just by talking?
Even if somehow, they believe him, they would never give their powers and influence to him
Why? Simply because it is against their interest.
Not to mention, most tribe still think of themselves as a separate entity. But for the empires around them, they all lumped the tribes of the Great Steppe into one category.
Barbarians.
And they killed indiscriminately when they go to the Great Steppe.
Since that is the case, Aeryon wanted to unite all of these races of the Great Steppe into one banner and into one loyalty.
Aeryon wanted them to know, whether they are Marynku, Eresian, or Ashran, Songnu, Sirong, Roma half blood, Yan half blood, whoever they are, as long as they are in the Great Steppe, they are the people of the Great Steppe, and their enemies are these people out of the Great Steppe.
Unite the people, unite the tribes, and unites the heart. And then when these three things is achieved, he could conquer the world and no one would stand against him
In human history, as long as people unite their hearts, unite their minds to achieve one single goal, the resulting effect has always been tremendous.
Since, all of these empires already treated them as one group, then what Aeryon simply wanted to do is to truly unite all of these forces into one group and show the world what would happen when the barbarian group together.
Then the whole world would tremble. It would shake. And the wolves of the Steppe would bare its fangs to the whole world
Lions and elephants would be tear apart and the howls of the wolves of the Steppe would reverberates all over the world
The only reason that the empires around them could kill them so easily is because they use the difference, feud and entanglements between the tribes to weaken the tribes of the Great Steppe.
Once he unified the tribes, such method would not work again.
He sighed and shakes his head
"This is not the time to think about all of those big things. There is still many things I need to accomplish before I dreams all of those large things" he thought to himself and then he chuckles again
"And it is not time to think of my lost memories. For now, to simplify thing, just think of myself as James. Simply these things. This world is a book and I am James"
Aeryon did this not because he truly accept this version of reality of himself but because without any sufficient new information, he would keep wondering.
And if he keeps wondering and did not do anything, he would not be able to survive in this world
From the moment he expanded the tribe there was no other way out for him.
He either rise and triumph over all or some other heroes would trample upon him and his tribe to make him as an example or as a stepping stone.
There is some action where if you take a step froward, you could no longer turn back.
And Aeryon did that.
He reforms the tribe, implement meritocracy, expand the military, create cities.
If he had stopped after defeating the Xewa and Ghar tribe he could have still turns back
But since he did not stop, there is no way out.
Now, even though he seems powerful, only he knows that there is no turning back for him
By now, even if he wanted to surrender he could not.
Because no chief could tolerate him. And no one would even dare to accept his surrender.
His tribesman could not see the pressure he is in. Only Mayeux and Belarion and his uncle could see it.
And he suspected Ayera could see it too.
That girl is a perceptive one.
"Just go all the way" he mutters with a smile.
He did not feel afraid.
Because he choose it.
And now if he complain that he is buckling down under the pressure, he is not a Steppe man.
At least for now, he should only think of trying to unify the Southern Great Steppe and did not need to distract himself with other things.
