Chapter 202: Hunt All Over the World

Chapter 202: Hunt All Over the World

The Khagai tribe and the Brolgadhr tribe warriors still have some gaps between their experience in battlefield with the Khagai tribe being the more experienced soldiers.

But if there is one thing that makes them look similar was their discipline.

The two chief, Aeryon and Valgrun both restrained their warriors from getting wild and crazy like Esbizuk tribe warriors and all of their warriors listen without disobeying

They are more like soldiers than there are warriors

And that makes them more lethal

When the Khagai chief look at how disciplined the warriors of the Brolgadhr he himself was shocked

He took a long time to mould his men who has the nature of the Great Steppe to become a disciplined force resembling those of the armies of the Western Zhou people

But Aeryon in just a few months has turns unruly men into disciplined machine

Only then when the Khagai chief listens to Aeryon method that he is convinced why Aeryon could create such an elite disciplined force

It lies on the fact that Aeryon unlike any other chief increased the loyalty and the cohesiveness of his men by promoting commanders based on merit rather than the use of clan seniority or close relations

When Khagai chief listen to this he could not help but feel that this young chief truly had great ambition.

And he is determined to do this.

Valgrun the chief of Khagai tribe has long been accustomed to dealing with people of Western Zhou which has a more disciplined soldiers than the people of Great Steppe.

And because of his dealing with the people of Western Zhou that he became even more impressed with Aeryon

Valgrun take decades to master the words of the Western Zhou and Yan and from there he learns about the art of war of Western Zhou

And there is a suggestion among the many wise counsellor of the Western Zhou in the past to employ people not based on character but talent

And it must be done through meritocracy instead of recommendation by fellow officers. Recommendation is allowed but it is not a guarantee that one would get the position

And for a time, the Western Zhou did try to enact such method but failed ultimately because of the backlash of the noble class.

But who would have thought that he would see such method employed in the Great Steppe? Aeryon is also very generous with his rewards

But as much as he is generous in his reward giving, he insisted on strict discipline and any warriors under him or any of his commander who disobeyed orders is severely punished, lashings being the most common method

Any ordinary soldier could expect nothing less that the death penalty for desertion, retreating when not ordered to or sleeping when on sentry duty

At the same time, Aeryon give his commander quite the autonomy on the field of combat and this flexibility reaped rewards

The two soldiers of this chief did not do chaos and in the places where their warriors held sway with Aeryon holding the northern part of the city and Valgrun holding the western part of the city, these are the only two part of the city that did not experience a bloodbath.

Aeryon and Valgrun that night met with each other.

They share a drink and talk about themselves, about their people, their problem and.....and they talk about the world

The mood turns sombre and tense. They share words, both are testing each other, the young chief probe the intention of the old wolf and the old wolf wanted to know the ambition of the young wolf

Back and forth, they trade words and then after a while, the young wolf knows what the old wolf wants and the old wolf knows what the young wolf wants

And both of them thought

" I could walk the same path and look at the same direction" And so, their words become candid, and their ambition is shared with each other.

The old wolf laughed and the young wolf laughed. Two of the great chiefs of the Southern Great Steppe that night laugh like there was no tomorrow

And when the night gets deeper, and Valgrun exited the tent of the young chief, he look at the sky and laughed

That night many things happens the messenger birds flies all over the Yan empire, announcing the return of the Great Steppe people to the Yan dynasty

The wolves that has been beaten all of those years ago, no longer fears you, sheep clothed in tiger skin

Instead, they are hungry, and they are in a Great Hunt. And this time, they would hunt all over the world!

The wolves awaken and he is hungry!

The dawn in Nurshira cast an eerie pall over the city, the remnants of yesterday’s tumult still lingering in the air.

The smoky aftermath of the battle obscured the sky, a grim reminder of the fierce clashes that had torn through the streets.

Throughout the city, the echoes of mourning and distress persisted, interspersed with eerie silences in some areas.

Desolation loomed over deserted streets, where once-bustling life had now vanished entirely.

The absence of any signs of life painted a haunting picture, a stark contrast to the city’s former vitality.

Traces of the violent conflict were starkly evident—strewn corpses, shattered structures, and the pervasive stench of death.

The morning light illuminated scenes of devastation, with entire districts ravaged by the brutal warfare that had unfolded.

Amid this bleak landscape, pockets of relative stability emerged in the northern and western parts of the city.

Under the reign of the Khagai and Brolgadhr tribes, these sectors retained a semblance of order amidst the chaos that enveloped the rest of Nurshira.

These two tribes are the only two tribes that did not engage in a massacre the night before

Aeryon and the other chief did not take long to retreat from the city of Nurshira.

The chiefs wasted no time in heeding the call to retreat, each leading their respective tribes away from the war-torn city of Nurshira at the break of dawn.

Orders were swiftly relayed to pack and carry the spoils of war—the accumulated riches that had been gathered from the conquered city.

Tens of thousands of Steppe warriors, laden with the newfound treasures, surged forward in a rush toward the Great Steppe.

As the tribes streamed back to their respective territories, the sheer magnitude of their acquisitions became evident.

Livestock, precious metals like gold and silver, and various resources filled their caravans, evidence of the tremendous wealth accrued from the conquest of Nurshira.

The return journey was marked by a sense of accomplishment and the anticipation of the prosperity these newfound riches would bring to their tribes.

Each chief led their people back to the Great Steppe, their departure leaving behind the city of Nurshira, now stripped of its wealth and left to grapple with the aftermath of the brutal conflict that had unfolded within its walls.

A week passes since the four chief returns back to their tribe in the Great Steppe.

And finally, the news of what had happened in Nurshira is relayed to the entire Southern Great Steppe.

And it shocked every tribe of the Southern Great Steppe.

The news of the conquest of Nurshira by the four tribes reverberated across the Southern Great Steppe like an unexpected tempest.

Shock and disbelief swept through every tribe upon learning of the remarkable feat achieved by their counterparts.

Whispers of astonishment and awe echoed through the vast expanse of the steppe as word spread.

To hear that not only had the four tribes ventured southward and confronted the Yan soldiers but had also succeeded in breaching the walls of a Yan city was beyond the realm of imagination.

The fact that they had conquered the city, seized its riches, and claimed captives sent ripples of disbelief throughout the tribes.

For generations, the Yan Empire had been perceived as an insurmountable force, a seemingly invincible entity that had loomed over the Great Steppe.

The unprecedented triumph of the four tribes shattered this long-standing perception, challenging the established order and overturning the belief in Yan’s indomitable might.

And if Aeryon could see this, hear the words of bravery of the old Steppe people, igniting their long desire to avenge old wrong, he would surely be happy.

Yan tries to tame the wolves of the Steppe. Aeryon wanted the wolf to reman wild and hungry.

So, that the would hunt. First, he needs to reign in the wolves. And then when the wolves is under one pack, a large pack, they would hunt.

Hunt outside.

Hunt everywhere.

Hunt all over the world!

The triumph of Aeryon and the three other chiefs in conquering Nurshira had a profound impact, presenting an alternate path to wealth and resources for the tribes in the Southern Great Steppe.

It was a revelation that sparked a paradigm shift in the perceptions and aspirations of the chiefs of the Southern Great Steppe.

They all could see that there is a new wind blowing in the Southern Great Steppe.

They could see it from the conquest of Aeryon, from the expansion of the Esbizuk tribe, to the fighting near the Utgard.

There is a trend here. And they know that if they do not become strong, they will be trampled on.
