Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Classification of Stars

After the longest dark flight in history, Lu Chen and Wandering finally saw the light again.

The source of the light was the Ant Nebula.

This ant-shaped nebula had been observed by humanity on Earth in the past, said to be stellar clouds formed from the chaotic ejection of massive amounts of gas and dust when a Constant Star neared death.

The nebula group was about four light-years in length, emitting light (electromagnetic waves) that was extremely bright.

Lu Chen and Wandering could see it from a distance, and when they got closer, they confirmed something—the Central Constant Star of the Ant Nebula was a Supernova on the verge of explosion!

A Supernova is a phenomenon in the life evolution of a Constant Star, and also the most spectacular one.

Only when a Constant Star exceeds ten thousand Constant Star Masses, will it form a Supernova Explosion in the final stage of its life.

If the Constant Star Mass is less than ten thousand, then after central nuclear fusion stops, due to insufficient mass-energy it won’t cause a massive explosion, therefore small mass stars usually become white dwarfs after death; if the Constant Star Mass exceeds one hundred thousand, it will become a Black Hole.

In simple terms, one can understand it as follows.

After death, small mass stars (below ten thousand) become dwarf stars;

Medium-mass stars (above ten thousand, below one hundred thousand) will form a spectacular Supernova Explosion, leaving behind a Star Core;

High mass stars (above one hundred thousand) will go through a Supernova Explosion, and the enormous gravitational pressure produced by their massive size will keep compressing inward, eventually evolving into a Black Hole.

A Constant Star Mass is the minimum standard mass required to become a Constant Star and is often used as a unit of measurement.

The Sun’s Constant Star Mass is only 1,250, not exceeding ten thousand, it’s just a small mass star, so when the Sun dies it will become a White Dwarf Star!

However, the star inside the Ant Nebula is different, its mass exceeds ten thousand Constant Star Mass, much larger than what humans had initially estimated from observations.

The reason Lu Chen was so certain was that he sensed it up close with his Intention; definitely more accurate than humanity’s estimates from thousands of light-years away.

As said before, he could sense the mass of each particle, thereby deducing their properties and total mass.

However, back in the Windmill Star System, Lu Chen couldn’t sense the mass of the Black Hole, indicating that the sensing of Intention has its limits; with his current Intention strength, it seems he could only sense matter below ten thousand Constant Star Mass.

It seems his Intention is not strong enough yet; he still needs to grow even more diligently!

And the imminent Supernova Explosion in front of him is an excellent opportunity, for only during the period of a Supernova’s explosion, the radiation energy it emits is enough to rival the total sum of the Sun’s lifetime radiation energy.

One can imagine how quickly Lu Chen’s Intention would grow in such intense radiation energy.

Moreover, during a Supernova Explosion, it will continuously eject all outer gases, which are mostly Hydrogen; therefore, Supernova Remnants, or nebulae formed by Supernovas, usually become star formation areas, having a certain chance of birthing new stars.

What Lu Chen currently lacks the most is hydrogen, he definitely won’t miss this great growth opportunity, the Ant Nebula to him, is just like a delicious cake!

If he could absorb the massive Hydrogen ejected by the Supernova, it’s possible he might directly grow into a Constant Star, at the very least, he should become a Super Gas Giant!

"Wandering, let’s go, there’s a sea of stars ahead!"

Right away, Lu Chen took the Wandering with him, and they headed toward the Ant Nebula; soon they arrived at the tail of the Ant Nebula.

Lu Chen had already sensed that the Central Constant Star inside the Ant Nebula had no Intention, it wasn’t a Celestial Civilization, so they could act without worry.

Just when Lu Chen and Wandering were preparing for a big undertaking, they suddenly found that their flight speed was dropping in a straight line, and the planetary magnetic field, as well as the planet’s surface, started "zzzzing" with a dense layer of electric noise.

"Big bro, what’s going on?"

The Wandering’s planetary magnetic field was rubbing fiercely against charge particles in space, with part of those charged particles forming a current after entering the highly conductive Metal Planet, spreading all across its body instantly!

Lu Chen replied in a deep voice, "It should be because the Constant Star Wind and radiative energy here are very dense, the charged particles are creating a current from friction with our magnetic field. Plus, the dense Particle Flow is colliding with our bodies, reducing our speed."

"But particles are so small, how can they block the movement of something as big as our planet?" Wandering asked again.

Lu Chen said, "One or two particles or even a few thousand or million can’t, but the Constant Star Wind here is terrifying, over a million times stronger than the Solar Wind of the Solar System. That number of particles is billions upon billions, it’s practically a particle ocean, the impact force is much greater. And with the Central Constant Star continuously ejecting matter, it produces a pushing force that naturally slows us down."

"A million times?"

Wandering found it unbelievable: "Good heavens, we’re only at the edge of the Ant Nebula, still 2 light-years away from that Supernova. Won’t the Constant Star Wind be even more terrifying inside?"

Lu Chen smiled and said, "A star capable of forming a Supernova Explosion is naturally very massive, not to mention it’s the last blast in its brilliant dying moments, its explosion power is likely even bigger than a Singularity Bomb; that it generates Constant Star Wind several million times stronger than the Solar Wind is quite normal!"

"So, do we keep going in?" Wandering asked.

Lu Chen replied firmly, "No guts, no glory. I want to become a Super Planet, even a Constant Star, I have to snatch hydrogen from these dangerous places, so we absolutely must go in!"

He had carefully sensed earlier that the Supernova within the Ant Nebula still had some time before it would genuinely explode. If he could gain enough advantages before the explosion, that would be the ideal scenario.

"If you don’t want to go in, you can wait for me outside!" Lu Chen added.

Wandering replied righteously, "What kinda joke is that, my life was given by you, boss; wherever you go, I follow!"

"Alright, let’s go!"

Lu Chen had Wandering attach to his body, then they slowly continued toward the center of the Ant Nebula.

Though his speed was slow now, that was only in comparison to flying in a vacuum; in fact, his current speed was still 250km/s, surpassing the Cosmic Fourth Speed!

Approaching the Supernova was indeed very dangerous, but within crisis, there are opportunities; Lu Chen’s enhancements during this time were also swift.

Imagine this, waves of Particle Flows constantly battering against the planet; most, after having their charges neutralized by the planetary magnetic field, were converted into Intentions, a large number of Intentions like warm currents flowed into Lu Chen’s Consciousness Field, causing the number of his Intentions to skyrocket rapidly.
