Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL] -
Chapter 298: In All of My Lonely Nights
Chapter 298: In All of My Lonely Nights
[TAMIKO]
As they walked back in, Kosta knew that the burden of the present was only just starting. The Lycan prince was hell-bent on vengeance and while it had always been the goal for him, Kosta couldn’t help but think that there was more to this.
Perhaps it was in the way that Tamiko didn’t even seem bothered by the changes around him. It had been weeks since Tamiko had talked about his vengeance in Grealor.
Anyone would think that he had forgotten about the place that had taken everything from him but Kosta could see a storm coming. This was the one storm that even he wouldn’t be able to find a way through.
It was the worst storm yet and honestly, it was a scary one. There was no other way out of this.
"There you are. I’ve been looking all over for you," King Zaffuto said when he saw his son and the Lycan chief make their way into the palace.
As much as they both knew the truth of how the king knew wherever his son was always, the two mates didn’t say anything about it. Instead, they just stopped and looked at the king who was smiling from ear to ear.
Kosta could see that the king wasn’t asking for him, and he didn’t want to linger any longer. He needed to think of a way to get around this shit with Tamiko because otherwise they were doomed.
There needed to be a focus but what was that when Tamiko’s obsession with Kosta was slowly resurfacing and it wasn’t the simple kind and romantic aspect. It was a crazed obsession, one that Kosta knew he had to brave himself for.
Of course, he didn’t expect that anymore after the kidnapping that had gotten them into crazier situations but he was tempted to think that maybe, just maybe this was not about him. Well, he knew he was lying to himself either way.
"I have something to attend to, sire. Please excuse me," Kosta said as he excused himself.
He didn’t give Tamiko the chance to complain or stop him because the moment he kissed Tamiko’s temple, the Lycan chief teleported away from there as if he really had shit to attend to.
Or maybe he wasn’t sure whether the king wanted to have him as part of that conversation and he didn’t want to put the mad king on the spot. The man was unpredictable as fu k and there was no telling what was going on in his way right now.
"Walk with me, son," the king said as they headed to the kitchens. It was not certain what the king was intending this time, given the fact that he and lord Sadako had long been banned from the palace kitchens. Perhaps this time would be different right?
Oh, Tamiko.
"Something seems to be bothering you, papa," Tamiko voiced.
"Me? I’ve never been better," the king lied and Tamiko sighed.
"Then I’ll go to bed before the kitchen staff start hounding me for coming along with you, hmm?" Tamiko said and his father cast him a betrayed look, as if to tell his son that they were both better than that.
But what was the use of being here when they couldn’t talk about shit?
Tamiko was clearly pressed about something and his father dearest had issues to think through too. There was no point in them playing the back-and-forth game with each other anyway.
Besides it wasn’t like there was going to be hell for the both of them to pay when they were both the masters of endless fates.
"Wait..." King Zaffuto said.
"Okay..."
"I wanted to spend some time with you," the king voiced earnestly.
"In the kitchen?" Tamiko asked with a raised brow. Surely this wasn’t the best place for the father and son to bond right? Or was this the most ideal place that his father dearest had thought of?
"It is easier to chat over food?" Zaffuto said and Tamiko stared at his father like the man had grown an extra head. Of the things he had figured he would be listening to, today of all the days, this wasn’t it. Not even by a long shot.
"What happened, papa?" Tamiko asked, knowing that there was no way that his father, the mad king could have gotten to this point with him. There wasn’t any tension between them so his father didn’t have a reason to be walking on eggshells around him.
Then again, perhaps it was because of everything that had happened the past month and how everything had turned out. It was a long month and most of them were still reeling from the aftereffects of the chaos.
Maybe it was the craziest of things in addition to the mad king’s declaration barely days ago. But then what the fuck was to be expected at this point then?
"I’m worried, Kaito," the king said, getting this one’s attention. The condition of the kingdom wasn’t exactly the most comforting, so Tamiko listened to what it was that worried his father so much.
Oh, how he hoped that this wasn’t because of what he had done to the ministers before.
"About the kingdom? It will all be fine, papa. The realm has to conform to the changes eventually. As for the Lycans, we haven’t exactly murdered any undeserving bastards since we came here, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
"Uncle and Danny are settling in well and Kosta is back to talking to me, everything seems alright. So, what could be worrying you that much, papa?" Tamiko asked, thinking of all the possibilities that he had to face.
All the aspects that could have had the king worried or pissed were already fixed.
Then again, was that all that Zaffuto was supposed to be worried about? A kingdom that he couldn’t care about since the death of his queen, or a people that he didn’t even relate to on any scale anymore?
The only reason Zaffuto had stepped out of his chambers was for the possible history that had come to light. And yet even then, there wasn’t much he could have held onto until the black eyes boy stepped into the kingdom.
Perhaps he was thinking too much of it, but then what the fuck was it meant to be for the father and son this time then?
"About you, Kaito. About you," King Zaffuto said and Tamiko stared in confusion.
"I’m alright, papa. You don’t need to worry about me. I am as fit as a fiddle," Tamiko laughed, only that this time, the happiness didn’t even reach his eyes. And his father knew that.
He had seen that state for the longest time and he needed to find a way for his son. He couldn’t live with himself if his dear son was left to hold onto the pain and anger like he himself had been left to.
That wouldn’t be fair to Kaito and Zaffuto wanted to see to it that his son was having the best of times in Kawai, regardless of the endless shit that was bound. That was all he wanted. But would he get it with ease? Was it ever going to be the only way?
"I’m your papa, son. I can feel what you feel. The rage that burns within, I feel it too. So, talk to me. Let me in. I promise I’ll listen. Let me be your papa, son," Zaffuto pleaded softly.
