Chapter 297: Right Where You Left Me

[TAMIKO]

[Today]

When Tamiko had told his Erasthai to recount what had happened to him on the day of his capture, Kosta hadn’t expected that he would end up this furious. There was a determination in Tamiko’s eyes that made the Lycan king’s determination look like a joke.

The pure rage in those eyes was enough to bring down realms.

It was as if this was the first time the Lycan chief was seeing his mate and he could see someone different. Danny repeatedly told him that Tamiko never liked sharing what was his, but this was different for Kosta.

He had thought it was just a thing that Danny had said to pass the time. The Lycan prince was a whole different entity and it was creeping Igor Konstantin out, when the man himself had always been the greatest out there.

"She let them touch you. She tried to taint you for me. She triggered your heat. She made you suffer," was all Tamiko had been trembling for the past hour as he paced around Kosta.

Anyone who didn’t know that they were making small talk would easily think that the prince was trying to intimidate his omega. That he was trying to make sure Kosta bends the knee which wasn’t even hard seeing as Kosta was down for anything Tamiko wanted.

But this was different.

"I’m sorry," Kosta apologized, knowing so well that Tamiko hated it when he did that. It was like a taboo for the young prince and hearing it from his mate was a slap on his face. It was always a wake-up call that never ended well for Tamiko.

He never wanted to put his Erasthai in such a position, and so when Kosta voiced out an apology, Tamiko stilled. It was like he had just remembered something, even as he lifted his head to glance at his Erasthai, the most beautiful omega the realm would ever have.

"I’m so sorry," Kosta added, knowing that if he didn’t, Tamiko would revert to his pacing.

"I should have been stronger... I should have—"

"If you apologize again, I will burn Kawai down, I swear it," Tamiko spoke gently, his eyes softening as he made contact with Kosta’s beautiful green eyes. He could see the worry in Kosta’s eyes and that is something that Tamiko wished he would take away.

He knew that the future was going to be filled with so many things and that the world was not going to be as colorful as Tamiko had thought of with Kosta, and he wanted to say something, anything.

And yet as Kosta stared into Tamiko’s black eyes, all he could see was that fierce determination again. It was like the threat that hung in the air and it almost made Kosta scared, even though it wasn’t directed at him.

He was just a Lycan omega, who was loved by the craziest of them all.

"I’ll never forgive them for what they did, my precious. You know that too, right?" Tamiko voiced, never breaking eye contact with his beautiful mate. He could stare into Kosta’s eyes forever and he would never once complain about it.

Life had always dealt them the worst set of cards and Tamiko didn’t mind it this time. If anything, he loved the chaos that had been brewing around them for a while now.

Of course, he hated that his Erasthai had been hurt in the proceeds but he would maximize on that chaos. He would make sure the realm would remember what it was like to mess with what was his.

"But what if it never ends, dusha? This cycle of violence. Is that what our lives will forever remain?" Kosta asked as he looked away from Tamiko. He didn’t want the prince to see how scared he was of what life was like for them.

Kosta had grown up on the battlefield. He had spent more time there than she had in the place and more often than not, he had wished that life didn’t have wars or shit that needed to be solved.

He always wondered what it was like to live a normal life with the love of his life. He missed the time when the Lycan queen was alive, but the blunders had happened and life had changed for everyone.

Right now, it was like he was praying for shit that would never make sense, shit that would never come to life again.

It was a hopeless wish and as Tamiko watched him intently, the Lycan Chief couldn’t help but wonder if there was ever going to be a time when his Erasthai was just a happy man, who didn’t have to worry about the madness of the wars that would probably never come to light again.

"I will end it, Kosta. I promise you this much. I will end the chaos. I will make sure we have a quiet life not just because we ran away from the kingdom and made it to apply where no one knew us. Our home.

"I will keep my promise, my precious, I swear it, again. I will end it for you, and for us. For the life I dreamt of us having. I will put an end to the chaos, just give me some time, my love... Just a little more time," Tamiko said as he gently sat at Kosta’s knees.

He knew that the Lycan Chief was worried about what life would be like and that was alright for him. It was the reminder that at the end of the day, even if they stayed in the battlefields, there was always something to fight for, and something to come home to.

And Tamiko, he wanted to come home to Erasthai. He wanted to see to it that his Erasthai was the happiest of them all. He wanted to give everything up for him.

"Forgive me, dusha. I’m supposed to be the Lycan Chief assigned to you, the one who’s meant to protect you and here I am, wondering when the chaos would end instead of stepping on the battlefield and being a part of the reforms," Kosta said.

"You’re my Erasthai, Kosta. No matter how many titles you take on, you will always be my Erasthai first. Just mine and no one else’s. And that means you can be whatever you want with me.

"You can say whatever you want. You can be free and goddess have mercy on the soul that will try to fault you for anything," Tamiko said, his determination still evident in his tone.

He was confident about what he felt for Kosta, and he wanted to let them know about it.

However, deep down, Tamiko knew that the attack on Kosta was not a one-time thing. He knew they would always try to come after Kosta and that was the one thing that was pissing him off more than anything.

It was like the attackers wanted everyone to know that Kosta being an omega was the one weakness that was needed to breach the kingdom, and Tamiko wasn’t going to let that come to light.

He would fight for his Erasthai. He would fight until he couldn’t anymore and he wouldn’t stop until he was certain his Erasthai was safe.

"Yours... always," Kosta said carefully.

"Mine. That’s all that matters," Tamiko said with a tone of finality before adding, "Let’s go back in. The weather is changing."

And Kosta knew what that meant.
