Chapter 286: Perhaps New Enemies Were Old Friends [2]
[ZULA]
"What the fuck are you doing here?" King Zaffuto asked in surprise as he watched the man tear through the frontline like it was a piece of cake. Perhaps it was for him, given the man in question and being so used to battling, even when the king was not dealing with any battles.
He had been born for the battlefield and the said man had made sure to bring home so much success that the king had been certainly right to give him the exposition he was holding right now.
But even then, that wouldn’t explain the way the king was shocked along with his brother. This right here was pure madness and the three people who loved causing chaos the most in the realm were finally united.
Was this truly a war that Zula wanted to keep going with?
"I’m your Chief, sire. If you are not going to take the Kawai army I prepared, then you will have to fight beside me," the man said and Sadako just laughed before fist-bumping him.
It was as if they had just managed to unlock the worst levels of insanity and they wanted a way to go back. Even if the king went home before sunset, this man and Lord Sadako were bound to burn their enemies down to the last one.
It wasn’t up for discussion because any rational person who had seen the man fight knew that he was almost as cruel as Lord Sadako and the mad king. Then again, he was a barbarian, wasn’t he?
"You really are a barbarian, Konstantin," Sadako said with a laugh.
"Always at the service of the Kawai crown. Now let’s go kick some ass before sunset," Konstantin said and this time, it was the king who laughed. Everyone knew of the ultimatum the king had been given and frankly, it was interesting to say the last.
It made them respect the Lycan queen even more because she was the only person who could rein the mad king in and the king wouldn’t object ever.
"For the queen of hearts!!" Kosta shouted and the brothers cheered on before they started eliminating the people on the battlefield. It was almost like a cruel game of magic, swords, and blades.
Heads were littering all over with limbs being chopped off and even better, some were reduced to minced meat by just a touch or even magic. It was a chaotic battlefield and every attempt to come at the three crazed Lycans always ended up in more deaths.
Interestingly as they fought, the trio talked about the Lycan queen who had made them the happiest.
They talked about her with pride and even scolded the warriors who had chosen to be used by their leaders to come against the one woman who was holding the realm altogether.
Everyone knew Liana Hinata was a blessing to them so why the fuck were they trying to make life too hard for the woman? Wasn’t It enough that he had managed to keep the king calm and unrelated to war for three long-deceased?
Then again, some people were always going to be unthankful little shits.
"Who’s getting Zula’s head when we get to her?" Konstantin asked.
King Zaffuto stared at Sadako as if to ask if they needed to gauge what they needed. It was wild as shit because they had already managed to eliminate the last line of the enemy warriors.
It had been a long eight hours and honestly, it should have creeped people out, given the warriors had been enhanced, and yet they still felt like a house of cards.
"Let’s play rock paper scissors to get to her," Lord Sadako offered and the Chief nodded. Three games later, the king had won all the games, making them groan as if they were not already covered, in blood and body parts...
...Or even that they had started burning the battlefield to make sure that no one her left alive let alone managed to remind anyone of the massacre that had happened here they didn’t mind.
Honestly, that was the crazy part of all of this.
"You always win, Zaffuto. That is not fair," Lord Sadako whined and Konstantin laughed.
"Maybe It’s time for some family reunion after all. Go on, sire, we will take care of the mess here," Konstantin said and Sadako pouted as if that were supposed to make the king stay.
Then again, it was most pointless because, at the end of the day, they all would be walking back home.

"You knew they were not a match for me, sister. Why did you do it? Why did you target Liana of all the people?" King Zaffuto asked when he got to his sister why hadn’t even bothered to make a run for it.
Perhaps it was because she had known that no matter what happened, Zaffuto Hinata would always find her and do whatever the fuck he wanted with her. Maybe it was just a strong suspicion, but what the fuck was Zula supposed to say to that?
Well, she had tried to fuck around with the king and now another half of the already divided realm was down; which was all her fault.
"Did it hurt? Having to leave her pregnant and alone in the palace, Zaffuto?" Zula asked and Zaffuto stiffened. He could have sworn that no one knew that his Erasthai was pregnant.
It was just something that even he had known and yet his crazed sister seemed to have more information than she did. That could only mean that she had access to the palace. That way some wild work and Zaffuto knew for a fact that his Erasthai was officially a target.
This woman right here was the mastermind and while it was tempting to have her on the stake, Zaffuto knew his sister well enough to know that she didn’t come here without a backup plan.
"Is that what you go around doing lately? Attacking pregnant women because you can never get pregnant yourself, huh? Does it make you feel better than when you sacrificed your womb for more power from mother dearest?" Zaffuto asked and Zula faltered.
Her brother had always been a bastard but right now she couldn’t think of a comeback for the man. She had planned herself well and yet as she stared at Zaffuto and the cold spite in his eyes, she couldn’t help but wonder what the fuck was going on.
"Is that supposed to make me have a conscience, Zaffuto? You really are something. You should be home before sunset. Who knows how long you have with your precious Liana," Zula said.
Zaffuto blasted her with his magic, only for Zula to laugh as she disappeared through the portal. She had thrown the first punch and Zaffuto would never forgive her if anything happened to Liana.
"Zaffuto... Is Liana..." Lord Sadako trailed off, having heard the conversation between the king and his evil sister. It was one not meant for their ears, but they couldn’t help but hear him, with their super hearing.
"I have to go to her, Sadako... I have to protect Lili," King Zaffuto said defeatedly and his Lycan Lord and chief both indeed at him, having nothing to say to the man whose heart was slowly shattering.
For the first time, they saw raw fear in the eyes of the king.
