Chapter 263: The Flower Bouquet From Hell [3]

[GREALOR]

"You will remember this day," Gabe warned. He knew it was difficult for everyone, but he also understood that they had to decide what was right and wrong. They could go on playing blame games with each other or they could get this over with.

Clearly, his father didn’t intend to let them know what exactly they were about to get into and it was disheartening. Maybe someday they would come to him and try to understand that life wasn’t so hard. Perhaps this was not just the time, no?

"We are targets by default, Gabe. It doesn’t matter what we do or think. The Lycans will be coming for us for what happened years ago," Ashton said as if that were supposed to remind his son of the risks they were facing at the moment.

All was supposed to be well, but now, but then the adamance of the alpha and the warlock was something that surprised Gabe. He had never seen anyone so determined to fuck up so many lives.

The families of the wolves who had been lost in Tamiko’s outrage hadn’t even had the chance to grieve and yet the former alpha was here trying to make it seem like they had worse things to deal with.

It wasn’t how grief worked and for a moment, Gabe wondered if there was a human aspect in his father.

He had never seen a man so selfish and it was driving him crazy, none of the things that they had tried to do had ever made any sense and yet it seemed like they kept forgetting that.

"Then what happened, father? How did you pull off the craziest shit in all of history then?" Gabe asked, knowing so well that he was walking some of the widest questions, he had been thinking, truly.

The young alpha knew that he could either stand in his father’s way as he was ringing alpha and probably lose his father to the madness that Zula had reigned him into. It was not that hard a choice for alpha Ashton because the man had always been loyal to Zula.

It was unfortunate and Gabe wished there was a way to break that loyalty and trust between them. But at the same time, Gabriel Grealor knew that his father was never going to stop with ease.

It didn’t matter what the fuck the realm showed them; they would always want to go after the Lycans. So, what better way of dealing with both situations than trying to understand the most basic aspects of them all?

He wanted to understand what had happened years ago that had lost him a mate.

’I could have been the one he hugs and kisses in the night,’ Gabe thought bitterly as he stared across the room waiting for his father’s response. There were nights when Gabe stayed awake because he couldn’t stop thinking of Kosta being with his Tamiko.

Those were the nights when Gabe hated ever being born into Grealor. He hated the fact that Kosta was an omega and could give Tamiko quite literally everything. The man was a Lycan Chief and had more power and influence on the realm than the entire Grealor. \

He was an omega and yet he had managed to protect Tamiko from Gabe and everyone in Grealor.

For an omega, Igor Konstantin had moved heaven and hell for Tamiko.

It was something that Gabe couldn’t even debate because he had seen it for himself, the way that Igor worshipped the ground that Tamiko walked on, he had seen the way that the barbarian was more than willing to give up everything for Tamiko.

For someone who had been mated to a slave, Igor had pulled out all the stops just for Tamiko. It was a truth that would never let Gabriel be and he despised the fact that Tamiko had to be saved from him, because of his immaturity.

He had hurt Tamiko and had lost him, now the same person who had saved Tamiko was the one that we were trying to go up against.

’You can’t kidnap Igor Konstantin,’ Gabe tried to reason in his mind, but he knew they wouldn’t understand him, so it was just him and his thoughts, that would forever stay thoughts, right?

What Gabe wished his father understood was the fact that Igor was always going to be Igor. Whether he was an omega or not, he was still always going to be the killer barbarian who had murdered millions since he had been born.

The man’s headcount could fill up ten wolf packs and even more. He had ruined so many lives and he was not going to just sit by and fail to protect Tamiko just because the world knew what he was.

At the moment, Gabe knew that Igor was never going to let anyone hurt Tamiko, not even if they had to use him to do that. The past month had not been certain for people outside Kawai, but Gabe knew that Igor was there for Tamiko.

It was sort of a bittersweet acceptance for the young alpha. His heart hurt, but at least he wasn’t hurting Tamiko. Then again, what else was he supposed to say to this? How the fuck would he be able to explain himself to Tamiko if ever his father managed to capture Konstantin again?

What the fuck was even at play anymore? Oh, but Gabriel was so done with the chaos around him. All he wanted was peace and yet even that seemed too big of a hassle because of the people around him.

Perhaps he was bound to be at the table and not mean anything, no? Well, one thing that Gabe was sure of was that he would protect Grealor. He had failed to protect Tamiko, but he wouldn’t do that to his people.

He wouldn’t make the same mistake and if that meant surrendering his father to the Lycans, then he would do it himself. Until then, he needed to know how they had pulled off the first attack in Kawai. It wasn’t much of an ask, right?

"You don’t want to know that. Focus on what we need right now," Alpha Ashton said dismissively. He knew that that was too sensitive a batch of information that he would never let out willingly.

His son had started showing signs of rebellion and he didn’t want to be the one to kill his son just because of a mission.

He had promised his wife he would be a good father and Ashton hoped that Gabe wouldn’t push him too hard because if he did, then the alpha wouldn’t stop himself.

He would give in to the urge to eliminate his own son just so his mission with the Lycans would succeed.

Kawai had to fall and if Gabe had to fall first, Alpha Ashton didn’t mind it.

"Are you planning on ratting us out?" Zula asked skeptically. She hated that Gabe had been talking to her and frankly, she wouldn’t put it past the young wolf to suddenly have a conscience.

It was something that Zula had seen with her warriors over the years. Oh, but she would definitely take out Gabe if that was the only way to shut the young wolf up.

"Why should I? I am a target too, remember?"
