Chapter 264: The Flower Bouquet From Hell [4]
[GREALOR]
"Are you planning on ratting us out?" Zula asked skeptically.
"Why should I? I am a target too, remember? I played the worst bit of Tamiko’s life, so I know he will probably kill me frost or torture me to the ends of the fucking world," Gabe said, reminding them that he was the very reason that Tamko despised Grealor mostly.
As devastating as it was to admit that truth, Gabe knew that life was never going to be the same for him too. He had played a role in what was bound for them and it would be his greatest shame as a mate, as a wolf, and as an alpha.
He should have known better, but he couldn’t turn back time, so he was stuck with his regret for the rest of his life... Well, if it was long enough anyway.
"If you rat us out, I will make sure you never get to the afterlife to be with your mother," Zula warned and Gabe’s breath hitched. That had to be some serious joke this woman was playing.
She may have been a warlock but tampering with the law and nature and how things were supposed to be couldn’t really be the best way out for him right? Or was it what she was obsessed with? An ounce of control?
Then again, no one here knows that Zula was King Zaffuto’s younger sister. Maybe that was why they were so confident with her around. For how long though?
"You—" Gabe began but Ashton interrupted him stiffly like he didn’t want his son being targeted too. Then again, wasn’t that what they all were right now? Zula could always find people to do her shit with.
She was a warlock and someone with the blood of the most wonderful Lycan lineage. She had managed to disguise herself as a warlock, but Zula was a Lycan too. Perhaps that was why it was so easy for her to deal with them.
They didn’t know that yet though, but what they were obviously certain of was the fact that she wouldn’t stop, and she was obsessed with getting over to where Zaffuto was.
Maybe someday when they were done with the wars, they would eventually understand why she was so determined to make sure that life was not going to be easy for the people who had gone against her.
Or would she come clean about her beef with the Lycans? Would she?
"There is nothing to argue about, Gabriel. You want to know or what?" Ashton asked, knowing that this could easily turn into a tragedy for them all. They were risking so much, just by being here and listening to the mad woman.
Ashton knew that Zula had connections that could wipe their pack out. But he didn’t want that. He loved Grealor and he was willing to keep them safe. It was his home for the longest time and the fact that his skin was like that was depressing for Ashton.
Maybe a part of him had expected Gabe to never talk shit, but he had trained his son well. His son would question every wrong decision they made and even if he had to follow them along the way, Ashton was sure Gabriel would never stop asking questions.
Maybe that was becoming regret for the alpha, but what was the point then? Wouldn’t it all just be the same at the end of the day then?
"She can’t just say that to me... that’s unfair!" Gabe shouted as if that would ever make sense but hey, he was the one dining with the devil he had to have known the consequences too, right?
There was nothing fair about what they were planning or their determination to fuck up society once again.
Going after the king was one thing but going after Tamiko was something that Gabe had warned them about and yet it seemed like they never cared for that little truth. Well, at least they were warned, right?
"Oh, yeah? Well, here is a better option, if you rat us out, I will reignite your mate bond with Tamiko who everyone knows, will never want you, even if you had Igor’s face," Zula said and gasps hard in the room.
That was some mad audacity coming from a warlock who didn’t even have a home to go back to. It was not fair how she was trying to manipulate everything in her favor. Binding Gabe to Tamiko again was not a threat that anyone here took lightly.
They had all seen the way Gabriel had suffered because he lost Tamiko. They had all been there when Gabe cried his heart out in the nights as he longed for Tamiko’s touch and acceptance.
They had seen Gabe give up more times than they could count in the last two years because he wasn’t brave enough to let Tamiko go. His friends knew that Gabriel was in love with Tamiko and that it wasn’t something the mate bond had triggered.
Perhaps that was also why they were pissed at the Zula declaration.
"That’s low, even for you," Ciel growled at Zula, shaking his head disappointedly. He had expected lots of things when they had started talking about Kawai and the barbarian omega but this was not it.
They were not supposed to be attacking each other like that. They were on the same side as the fact that Gabe was still here after everything was supposed to be proof enough, or wasn’t it?
"You have no clue how low I can go just to get what I want. I won’t let a kid fuck that up for me," Zula said, not caring about how cruel she sounded.
She would get what she wanted and Gabriel Grealor was never going to ruin that fit her no matter what he was on. She refused to let him win like that. But was this about winning or was there more to it?
Zula had grown desperate and they had seen it too. The woman was basically walking on thin ice just to get what she wanted. She had come back to them bleeding and bruised and her first thought wasn’t even to heal herself.
She had come to Grealor like this was the place that felt like home for her. They couldn’t blame her though. After what had happened with Zaffuto, Zula had found a home in Grealor.
They had shown her what love was to her and how important it was to do what she loved. Zula was just trying to keep his promise. She couldn’t lose another family because of her brother.
Then again, she couldn’t be honest with them in that part too. So, she was stuck with being the woman who, and no empathy, thought that we were never going to bother Zula.
She had seen and heard enough and he’d be damned if she lost again because of Zaffuto Hinata.
"And here I thought King Zaffuto was the spawn of the devil," Zakhar commented quietly as he shook his head. He wasn’t sure what was waiting for them behind the chaos they were supposed to brave through and through, but he hoped they would make it out alive.
They had to, right?
Or maybe they would?
"Well, here goes nothing," Zula said before beginning the horrific landmark disastrous tale of the realm. Maybe that understanding would make the wolves in the room choose to side with her, but what if they didn’t side with her?
What would happen then?
