Chapter 260: The Golden Rotten Poisoned Fruit
Chapter 260: The Golden Rotten Poisoned Fruit
[GREALOR]
The realm was full of surprises, so this wasn’t supposed to be a surprise for the warriors and the young alpha, but it was. It was the craziest of them all and frankly.
There would have been a thousand and one guesses about what the cud have expected when they are summoned and this would have caused their minds.
This right here was insanity; improbability and it was a shitty way of committing to the culture that had been greater for the longest time. But was it what they had to explain or was this just another pipe dream?
Hallucination, perhaps?
Was that all there ever was going to be to them or was this a chance at a former normal; perhaps a hint of what the past looked like had what the future possibly held for them?
Oh, but the surprise wasn’t just on the faces of the warriors but also on the face of Alpha Ashton himself. This... was insanity.
"Father, you called. What heinous thing are you planning this ti... me?" Gabe asked boredly, even as he trailed off to the greatest shocker of his life. They lived in a time like impossible shit and yet this took the count at the top two. This was just not real.
"What the fuck just happened?" Ciel, the ever-nonchalant warrior, asked as he walked past his friends who were still glued to the door, the surprise on their faces the opposite of what was on Ciel’s.
If anything, the warrior just smirked as he walked over to where the alpha was, like this was an eventuality. But was it? Was this what they had expected or rather should have expected?
"My legs," Alpha Ashton spoke in surprise and Ciel chuckled.
"Well, at least your traitorous ass got legs from the Furfante. Anyway, why did you call us, alpha?" Ciel asked, this composite amusing Zula who had been sure she had seen everything.
Clearly, there wasn’t much, if Ciel had managed to surprise her too. This warrior was something, but was that what this was about then? They had been summoned, and they were here.
Surely there had to be better things than this, staring at the Alpha who suddenly had legs and no longer needed his wheelchair, right? Or was that what they had been brought to witness?
If so then they would be a disappointment and it was already a show on Ciel’s face. The warrior was never one to hide his emotions and right now, his face was mirroring the disappointment that many would easily understand.
Well, it would take them a moment to catch up with what was needed now anyway.
"You really don’t care that he has legs, do you, young warrior?" Zula asked.
Ciel just shrugged. He had nothing to be glad about.
Maybe if his mate hadn’t been murdered as punishment for the damn pack, maybe he would have been able to play along with them, but he and his mate had been taken by the Lycans and it was because of Grealor and the stupid alpha who was now with legs.
Perhaps this was Ashton’s chance at making things right for the people who had lost so much at the ends of the Lycan kingdom because of him, right?
"We were busy training and we got summoned. The rational part of me chooses to believe that we were not brought here to see the Alpha get his new pair of legs. I am not interested in them, frankly.
"And if that is what we are here for, then I have warriors to keep training with, you will have to excuse me, alphas," Ciel said, not mincing his words.
He didn’t care if Grealor was suddenly the new kingdom and hosted a powerful home for the moon goddess’s children. All he wanted was his mate or vengeance for the loss that had ruined him.
He didn’t care that the stars and the sun would meet because none bore any significance for him. Ciel had centered his life around making sure he got revenge on lord Sadako.
He would find the Lycan Lord and he would make the man pay for killing his mate. It was just that simple for him. And while Ciel knew it was the most dangerous thing for them to even consider, he was more than willing to do it.
After all, life hadn’t been as easy for him. He had struggled his entire life to make shit right and he refused to be the one that people stomped on again. And certainly not by the royals of Grealor who only wanted to have fun at everyone’s expense.
That was what Ciel was going for.
No matter what state that Grealor was in.
"The Lycans are coming, and with Tamiko headed for the throne, the only point we can hit them the most is their omega," Ashton began and the warriors snapped out of their trance as they walked in and took their seats in the former alpha’s office.
Now that Ashton could stand and move on his own without the help of the wheelchair, Ashton chose to stand and pace around. It was notable, and the people in the room with him understood that it was just him being excited about being back up again.
It was something that the alpha would think of later when he didn’t have kids who were staring at him with boredom in his office.
"This is awesome. I never thought there would come a day when I did my claws into a Lycan Chief. When do we leave? How do we go about this?" Ciel inquired a little excited, making everyone in the room chuckle at his tone.
He was always looking forward to a day like this, and he had long told Gabriel that he would show up at anything that needed the Lycans to pay the price for what they had done to Grealor.
It was not that hard to comprehend and they understood him.
Frankly, they were on his side, and that made it even worth it. This was their chance to make things right for them and hopefully, he would live long enough to see what their enemies would be tattooing with them, right? Or was there something else?
"Aren’t you a little excited, Ciel?" Zula pointed out.
"They took my mate. If there is anything I need to do to take them down, then count me in. I don’t care what the consequences will be for me. Besides, I have nothing left to lose.
"Judd was my world and the Lycans took him," Ciel said calmly like he had been thinking of this for the longest time. It had been two years since the incident and truthfully, Ciel still missed his mate so badly.
He had been taken when Ciel hadn’t even had weeks with his mate. It was like the moon goddess had introduced him to Ciel just to leave Ciel a raging soul.
The rage was the only thing that was keeping Ciel alive just as the rage of losing Ronan had gotten Danny to the Lycan lands. The only difference was that Ronan was a highborn werewolf who was a victim of the alpha he trusted.
He was a Grealor wolf and had been murdered in cold blood by Gabriel and no one had said shit. Well, if Tamiko came for Grealor, then they would know for sure what it meant to Danny, losing his mate stupidly like that.
Gabe had betrayed Danny and Ronan, and that was something that even Gabe knew at the back of his mind.
He knew that Danny would be coming for him but then even he could tell that no amount of preparation of the Grealors would ever save Gabe from the best friends who were determined to have his head on spike.
"You will get your vengeance. We just haven’t weakened that throne first," Ashton said and Gabe looked at his father like the man had lost his mind. After that had been said and done, the alpha didn’t think that it was best to go after the omega again, no?
What the fuck were they even thinking? This was suicide and it would only make their pack weaker. There was no way that his father was society considering the worst plan that would blow in their faces.
It was bad enough with Zula here but fuck was it messing with him. His father surely had to have eyes. The man needed to think, and not just because he was excited about getting his legs again.
The Hinatas were protective of their people and they had already decreed it again, for the realm. Going after the omega was the worst possible idea and yet as Gabe looked at his father, he could see some sort of conviction.
It was as if he was never going to let go, which was weird because he could have sworn their races had to live in the realm without causing so much trouble. Was it all a distant hope for them?
Or was it just a chance at ending their lives sooner?
"don’t tell me you’re going after Konstantin again. You do realize that is a dangerous choice, right? Tamiko is not like his father," Gabe reasoned and they just stared at him like he was the one who was losing his mind by thinking of that.
What were the odds that he was wrong?
"We already know that. Which is why we are going after his Erasthai," Zula said and Gabe chuckled sadly. These people were crazy. That was the only thing he could think of.
No one in their right mind would go after something despite the losses they had all incurred. It was madness of the highest order, but as they stared at Gabriel defiantly, it seemed like they were not giving up the little fantasies.
"You don’t get it, do you? Tamiko is not like his father, because he is worse than his father," Gabe spelled out for them.
