Chapter 251: The Plight of An Unhealthy Savior
Chapter 251: The Plight of An Unhealthy Savior
[KAWAI]
"The next person is the Lycan Chief, the royal omega and my son’s Erasthai, Chief Konstantin," King Zaffuto spoke confidently. There was pride in his tone like this was easily the best thing that had happened in his miserable life.
It was like he had lived for years and years for the realm to get to this point. King Zaffuto had always found it odd that there was an omega in his timeline and an omega who had managed to strive so hard to be the Lycan Chief.
It was unheard of, for an omega to be working that hard, and even worse, for him to be that powerful. Perhaps a part of the king had always known that Igor Konstantin was destined for greater things and even roles.
Perhaps he had seen for himself that there was more to this, but even he was not a man of fate, because, at the end of the day, he never got to question that presence again.
He had considered letting the realm know of the existence of an omega in his kingdom, to see what would happen, and yet as horrible as he was, the mad king had protected the Lycan Chief with his honor.
It was almost like he was the most important person in the king’s circle when he was just a barbarian who worked away from home.
’He should be back now,’ the mad king had thought to himself more than he could ever admit over the years.
There were days when Zaffuto was certain that the omega would never make it back home, days when he expected the realm to combust at the mention of a Lycan omega in Kawai.
And yet in all those six hundred years that Konstantin had served the crown, there was never an instance, save for the moment his son had come back.
It was almost like fate was pushing him to make a revelation, to free the Lycan Chief of the most dangerous secret that he had been keeping.
Weeks later the king had thought hard about what it meant to have Konstantin as an omega and frankly, one that belonged to his house. He had tried to make it make sense, but there was never a thing that made sense.
The only truth that Zaffuto couldn’t deny was the fact that even before his son had claimed the Lycan Chief, the king had always looked forward to Igor Konstantin coming home.
Granted, it wasn’t as open a thought for the king, but it was there, lying softly underneath the rage and pain that the king was feeling. Almost like Konstantin was perhaps the reminder that the king had his humanity.
Funny how all had ended up in the most twisted of ways, because right now, here in front of thousands of Lycans, the king had made his choice.
He had made an announcement, a declaration so crucial that the realm would bow in the process without even lifting their tongues to question the line of thought. And perhaps that was what fate looked like.
Perhaps it was what life had meant for them because this was their home.
"Sire," Igor stood up proudly, the mask he always wore for his scent, off, letting the entire kingdom reel in the truth that there was an omega before them.
He looked majestic as always, on one hand, he had a sword for the house Hinata, and on the other, he had his blade, the blade that had taken one too many lives in his tenure as the kingdom’s Lycan Chief and the ram’s worst barbarian.
He looked happy and proud of his service to the kingdom, and on his neck, was a fresh mark, for every step. The reminder that this was the Lycan prince’s Erasthai. Igor Konstantin was marked by the prince and he wasn’t hiding it anymore.
The mark on his chest was for Tamiko to see when they were alone, but the mark Tamiko had carved so beautifully on his neck was a royal seal for him.
A reminder of the bond that he had traversed factions for.
A reminder that this was the love he had hoped for as a young boy, an omega who never had anyone to protect him, and an omega who had been abandoned into the realm and one who had to learn to survive.
The mark on his neck was the reminder that he had the protection of the house Hinata because he was a part of the house Hinata. He was an integral part of the house that burned things to the ground so easily at the slightest inconvenience.
Igor Konstantin was one of them.
He was them.
He was a Hinata too.
And maybe if the timelines allowed, it would be official and he would no longer just be Igor Konstantin, but he would have Hinata as a last name; the name that ruined lives and carved relationships from the dust.
He was no longer just a mere omega with no one to stand up for him. He was the royal omega. The omega who was protected by the house Hinata. Because unlike how he had always thought, love was not the death of duty, nor was duty the death of love for them.
They were one and the same, in a timeline that screamed love and mercy, yet rage and chaos at the same time. This was the emblem of the house Hinata, a destructive and constructive lifetime bond. Oh, to be a part of the Hinatas.
"Look at him, and look at him well, Kawai, for he is the newest member of the house Hinata. He is the pride of the realm as barbaric as he is. He is the pride of the kingdom as the great Lycan Chief that he had always been for all of us.
"And he is the best thing that ever happened to my son, the omega who fought to keep Kawai safe. Let it be known to all that have ears and can hear, that a threat to the royal omega, is a threat to the house Hinata.
"Only that house Hinata is never threatened. House Hinata never gives in to threats. Tell those of you who plan on using the royal omega as bait to bring down the kingdom. Let them know what is waiting for them—
"... for I, Zaffuto Hinata, will never let you and everyone you ever met live if you so much as stare at him the wrong way," Zaffuto warned while Konstantin stared at the king in shock.
He had never expected that the king, of all the people, would be the one to stand up for him that dedicatedly.
It was almost like something had possessed the king and honestly, Kosta wasn’t sure if this was a good sign, or if this was the reminder that no matter what they did out there, no matter what shit got for them, there would always be a fallback plan.
It was a crazy one right now, but it was what life had brought for them. It was something that he had not been sure would make sense and yet for some reason, it seemed like the king didn’t mind burning bodies for the Lycan omega.
This was not just about this little gathering. This was a warning to the entire kingdom and Kosta was slowly learning that. Maybe it wasn’t so bad to be on the side that the king defended and stood up for, right?
