Chapter 232: I Wish Love Was Perfect As Love Itself
[KAWAI]
"You switched it off, didn’t you?" Akila asked and Tamiko stared at him definitely.
"Come on... you won’t get a fight from me, but you need to rest. You look like shit... don’t worry, I won’t tell a soul you’re here," Akila said reassuringly. He could see the stress markers on Tamiko’s face even without his humanity.
He knew that this had to have been hard for the kid and frankly. Akila couldn’t blame Tamiko for the choice he had made. At least it was the way that the kid could relax, no matter how hard it seemed after all that he had been through.
Maybe this was a risk he was taking for offering to house Tamiko, but what else was there for Akila? He was sworn to be loyal to Igor Konstantin, and the man’s Erasthai by default. That was never going to be up for debate.
Maybe it was that this, to him, was just an act of love, for the family that needed his help.
"No. I’m not coming in. I’m fine out here, you can go back to sleep," Tamiko said as he curled himself on the ground even more.
Akila had come and found him curled up like a loner and that was the state he had gone back into. It wasn’t that difficult to tell why, but then Akila knew that this was not going to explain Tamiko’s pain.
Denial was a bitch and Tamiko was right in the middle of it, with so many things that needed his attention. He had to make a choice that would determine the next step for him... but what about sleep? What if sleep was the next step?
Would that be alright for him?
Oh, Tamiko.
"If that is what you wish. But I’ll leave the door open should you change your mind," Akila said and Tamiko nodded in relief. He wasn’t sure now, what he had been hoping that Akila would do to him, but clearly it wasn’t going to work and he had to think of something else.
Or maybe he didn’t have to do anything other than let himself sleep. He didn’t have to try so hard to force hate where hate was never going to come. It wasn’t going to be simple but by now, Tamiko had to have already known that too, right?
"He is at my door," Akila said to the king in the mind link, just so the man could be at ease. They all knew that Tamiko wanted to be alone and Akila was hoping that the king respected that. It was the only thing that Tamiko needed right now anyway.
Maybe at the end of the day shit would be alright too, no?
When morning came, Akila had expected Tamiko to be gone. He knew the kid had the craziest of tempers. However, what he had expected was for him to be sound asleep on the cold grass.
It was a sight that broke the Lycan’s heart and he wished that there was anything that he could do for the kid. He looked calm in his sleep, and for a moment, Akila couldn’t help but laugh at the way life had gotten for them.
Everything is suddenly so simple yet at the same time, it would always be complicated because of the dynamics they lived in. But that was not enough for them to assume the worst of the Lycan kid running away from his problems.
So wordlessly and without making a sound, Akila walked out of his house gently pulling it so it wouldn’t make noise. He hoped that when the prince woke up, he would feel lighter and free.
Maybe that was what would happen or maybe this time, Tamiko would just lose his mind.

"My beautiful... wake up, baby. Wake up..." Tamiko heard and for a moment he was sure he was dreaming as he always did.
For the past five days, he had been thinking of Igor Konstantin, looking out for him, loving him without any rules. They had been the best of dreams for him even if he woke up and Kosta wasn’t there beside him.
It had always been a harsh series of trusts and Tamiko hadn’t been strong enough to deal with it all on his own. He had hated how shit had gotten but then there was never going to be a way out for him if he didn’t give in.
So as always, he just smiled in his dream, like Kosta was not mad at him and like Kosta didn’t hate him. Maybe they would be alright, yeah?
"You’re cold, and you need to wake up. Listen to my voice, baby. Please," Kosta’s voice came through and Tamiko could swear that he was still asleep. He had been having a beautiful dream and now it felt a little too real.
The way that his subconscious was playing games with him was not cool but then it wasn’t like he could fight himself over his emotions, the same things he had been running away from for the past few hours, right?
Maybe this time he just had to pretend like it wasn’t real, and then it would all disappear, right?
"you’re not real. You can’t be real. It’s impossible," Tamiko chanted as he kept his eyes shut.
Kosta was still in his chambers, sleeping. He was still reeling from the aftereffects of a heat that he had dealt with alone, a heat that had been triggered because Tamiko hadn’t fought for him enough times.
That in itself would forever haunt Tamiko and he always despised himself for it. No amount of love would ever change his mind about how hard life had gotten for him. Maybe he was insane for that, but what else was life supposed to give him then?
He was just a boy, and one who had loved so much it broke him and everything around him. Perhaps it wasn’t the time to wake up just yet, so with his eyes still closed, he turned to the other side.
It was shit anyway to escape his hallucinations because it would have been a pity if Kosta came and saw him like that. He hated himself so much, oh poor thing.
"It was Zula," Kosta said and that got Tamiko sitting up faster than he ever had. He had felt his neck crack, but he would deal with that later.
His attention was needed somewhere, or rather, here listening to his Erasthai, the same man he was sure he was hallucinating about. Maybe that was a distant fate, because even as Tamiko sat up, his eyes remained closed, like he wanted to be certain that this war was a bad dream.
Surely Zula couldn’t be the one who took his Erasthai from him and triggered his what, right? Oh, that woman could get it from Tamiko. She would pay the price for everything that Kosta had incurred.
"What?" Tamiko asked carefully. He didn’t have any hope, but it was all that he could afford right now, this was the first possibility that screamed the right answers. He had to listen, and he needed to embrace what was coming for him.
"Zula?" Tamiko added, unsure of what he was hearing.
Something was terribly wrong because there was just no way that Zula was capable of risking lives like that. The woman had to have known they would come after Grealor tenfold, right? But what if that was never an issue for her?
"She saved me," Kosta said softly.
Tamiko’s eyes snapped open.
Kosta didn’t hesitate to take advantage of the moment; even as he slammed his lips against Tamiko’s.
